Excellent. I presume they will follow suit on the enforcement front for Cabaret as well. The email really is quite strongly worded and makes clear that if you don't produce proof of vaccination you could be denied entry without a refund. All extremely reassuring provided they do proceed to enforce it! Be interesting to see if it’s legal to change terms after booking (which is what Cabaret have done) and refuse a refund as a result. The person I am meant to be going to Cabaret with wants me to consult a solicitor over that as they refusing to take a test. Why doesn't your friend consult a solicitor themselves? Sounds likea lot of hassle for you, if it were me I'd be taking a different friend....

They paid for it - the booking is in my name but they gave me all the money. So, if it's in your name buy them out and take someone else. Also, let them consult a solicitor themselves, they want to go w/o the test, it's on them to sort out their mess. Everyone else has to do it with no fuss. Honestly, a solicitor for something so minor!

The email I got when I booked my Cabaret tickets made very clear proof of Covid status was required. That was the phrase used. Taking a test and providing a test result is proving Covid status, so well within what ATG warned you would be needed when you booked. Nothing has changed, all they have done is now explain what precisely is required. If your friend is refusing to do something as simple as take a test that takes two minutes then frankly I don't think they deserve a credit voucher, let alone a refund! Utterly ridiculous to refuse to do something so simple and that benefits themselves and others. Proof of Covid status has always been taken everywhere else as including vaccination or testing. No where else has ever used it only for testing. How it is used elsewhere isn't decisive - the words mean what they say and providing a negative test is proving Covid status.

Theatres are entirely within their right to claim the only way to get close to actually proving your covid status is to have you take a (free, so no one can complain about them) test, imo.

The set looks great on the Piccadilly stage although I've seen a picture of the Melbourne production which I think has just opened or will be opening and it looks bigger than both Broadway and London.

The law of contract is fairly strict. If they haven’t made sure they terms of conditions cover unexpected changes then they could be in bother.

The minute extra charges are de facto required to legally enter and someone refuses to pay for a test and is refused entry and denied a refund they will sue on principle.

No it must be true. They used ‘de facto’ and that is legal jargon. As someone that did jury service at the Old Bailey twenty years ago can I suggest that it is the sort of hardcore requirement that may have needed mentioning at the time of booking. Habeas Corpus. Objection etc. Sound convincing?

Lateral flow tests are free of charge. Have you asked for a refund? If so, what was the response?

Except extra charges aren't required as lateral flow tests are free. And even if they weren't, as I've already said, you were warned proof of Covid status would be required. That is the only thing that matters. ATG have a strong legal team who will no doubt have advised on this. I don't see any legal issue here.

I’ve heard from someone working on it that they are going to really enforce this, and are having many other producers etc keen to know how it works as they have wanted to do it, but haven’t been brave enough. Good for them I say. About time someone took a proper stand that is a clear sign that it’s a small price to pay for protecting the industry, and audiences. They did not. I have to say it is tricky with the long rows in the upper circle now the middle aisle has gone but I didn’t see anyone being reminded.

I was there tonight and they didn't enforce it at all, they just asked you to keep your mask on all the time when they checked your ticket. Maybe 50/50 mixture of masked and non-masked people.
Really enjoyed the show, best to just absorb the spectacle without comparing it to the film. The set was incredible.

I assume it's been given a spruce up given it's been 19 months since it was last open.

Had not realized this was starting previews already. Wonderful to see that new shows are now opening up alongside the previous runners in the west end. Something which seemed to be so far off earlier this year.
Do also like that ATG ticket site shows view from all seats so you can get good idea of view, will be interesting if the circle overhangs which look like they limit views do come up as a issue with people seeing the show.
I presume there is a lot of merchandise being offered for sale?

Stunning auditorium and set. Great set pieces. Great vocals. All let down by two leads with no charisma or chemistry (him especially). Know it's a first preview but...disappointed.
Absolutely no enforcement of masks either - The Stage article is all for show
