What a lovely gesture from Simon Bailey The danger now is people will try to get his attention in future shows and possibly annoy the other audience members. What was the audience member doing to get noticed on stage?

What was the audience member doing to get noticed on stage? I would hope not. Simon did reply to someone’s comments on Twitter and just said how much the person was enjoying the show.

I saw this tonight with my daughter and thoroughly enjoyed the show. I really don’t understand the beef that Jamie is getting on here, as I thought he was excellent. Maybe not a traditional musical theatre performer, but I thought he brought something unique to the role of Christian. A kind of believable simplicity, innocence and optimism that made sense. I liked his voice and thought Roxanne was his best number by far. Lissi as Satine was great too, we totally believed her performance and also wanted her wardrobe 😉. And we loved to hate Simon as the Duke, which meant he did his job well. The idea of any man owning a woman like the duke tries to own Satine had us both fuming. Finally Zoe Birkett was a standout as Arabia.
We were seated in the very front stalls and got up close and personal (literally) with the Moulin Rouge cast and Can Can (cos you can can can) dancers. Honestly, my husband would have loved it for all the wrong reasons! 😂
What I liked about the show is that it delivers what you expect - having seen the film. The theatre is beautifully dressed and the ensemble earn every penny with their enthusiasm. All the principal cast were on tonight with the exception of Santiago. His understudy was very good indeed. Clive Carter as Harold Zeedler was a joy to watch, such an engaging performance from start to finish, chickens.
All in all a great night out at the theatre, I just wish MR would lower their ticket prices a bit so we can see it again soon.

The MR cast are performing on tomorrow (Monday 31st May) night’s Britain’s Got Talent.
What’s On Stage says they’re doing Backstage Romance (the Act 2 opener) so it’ll be good to see them do something other than the main show opening number.

I think Diamonds or Elephant Love Medley would be better for BGT.

I think Diamonds or Elephant Love Medley would be better for BGT. Agreed. Would love to see them do the Elephant Love Medley on one of these TV performances. I think it was probably my favourite moment in the show.

I was there Thursday for my second viewing. Still a technically good show and quite the spectacular but the audience at times were just awful, some really bad behaviour and lots of people getting quite drunk. Highlight - row C, towards the end, Satine does her thing to Christian and all we heard was this woman say “what a bitch”. I’m sure the cast heard as they seemed to take a second…. Still don’t think there’s much chemistry between the leads and I’m not a fan of Christian, don’t think he is strong enough, however the Duke still does it for me and plays it well. Who plays Duke?

Still want to see this, but it's so expensive still. They reduce the ticket prices on the day (not by a lot, but it does help). Alternatively, if you want to book ahead, they have seats for £25 and £35 in the grand circle. The view is really not bad at all. You are a bit far away, but the rake is really good.

Anyone who has an ATG account know if there's a way to access that seat on the end of row B that was only showing up to logged in ATG members? Since they changed the site (so being logged in to your account from the top of the site rather than having the members/access log in here button by the show date) it never shows up, even on shows way in the future where nothing around it is sold, so I'm assuming there's still a trick to it. Anyone know?

Actually really liked the BGT performance, thought they did a great job and the opening section certainly started the show with a bang.
Was the actual show at the Piccadilly pulled tonight, or did they pre-record the BGT performance? With so many of the principals in Hammersmith they couldn’t possibly have done both!

I’ve still not seen Moulin Rouge, but from what I’ve read on here it’s interesting how every time they get a chance to promote the show the leads are barely featured.

That's so true, not a great sign. Why not just re cast?

That's so true, not a great sign. Why not just re cast? It’s not that simple. Hopefully they’ll be gone when a new cast takes over in the winter. They can only improve on these 2 surely?!

On the BGT performance, I couldn’t help but think how uncomfortable Jamie looked when he appeared at the end of the number. And it wasn’t Liisi as Satine - was it Tanisha? (who I think normally does Mondays anyway).

Have to say that everytime I have seen the show on TV programmes I have been underwhelmed. It hasn't made me want to see the show at all. The only performance they ever seem to do on tv is Lady Marmalade so I suspect boredom has set in seeing that repeatedly? And then they go and do Bad Romance and Twitter slates it!
