Any dates/venue for Nice Fish yet?
UPD oh, sorry, it's just for Musicals then! )) I wouldn't mind the singing fish also as long it features Mark Rylance

That programming wouldn't surprise me a lot. Another musical there.

That programming wouldn't surprise me a lot. Another musical there. Isn't that the way it's always been? Curve are known for putting on Musicals. But recently they have also started doing more high profile plays as well like Streetcar, Tiffany's, Wipers and Earnest.

It's the choice of some recent musicals that suggests a lack of originality.
Regarding the plays (Wipers was being workshopped a couple of years ago by them I read), it seems they are going with the path of reinventing classics for new audiences, but there have been mixed responses so far for some and I preferred Kerryson's programming of plays.

They always seem to revamp their musicals and although they're still good, the originals always seem better!

If they ever brought Frozen over here, I think it would do so so well with families

Only less than a month to go before Dr Faustus finishes at the Duke of York and nothing to follow it, as yet.

Their job is to provide theatre for the community and the theatre that the community wants, which is the kind of shows they are putting on. Anything less well known and the theatre would be empty. Leicester isn't London, where people would be interested in lesser known shows or new work.

I thought the Curve was a charity but not subsidied. It would be nice to see them tackle a musical that hasn't been done in decades perhaps Camelot or Brigadoon or maybe work with a commercial producer on a new musical or new revival.

I realise they need to produce shows which bring in the local community (Although I'm not sure how well Legally Blonde sold). But as someone whose local theatre is also Curve, I have felt put off from some of their recent and upcoming productions.

I imagine if it transfers then it has been doing fairly well as it costs money to move a show... unless they were offered a deal.

It's Kenwright. Money isn't an issue. Are you joking? Have you seen a Kenwright set recently? He knows when and where to spend it. If it's a case of putting down a deposit and putting on a show in a quick time-frame, Kenwright is your man.

Doctor Faustaus ends next Saturday! How are they going to announce a new show in these 10 days? They need to promote it and get people to buy a ticket. Surely, they can't leave it dark until October?

I'm guessing they'll be doing renovation work, especially after the flood they had a few weeks back. I highly doubt that something will be going there at this late notice
