While I feel Cheryl has lagged quite a bit throughout the competition, her personality and energy really made you love her. I am sad to see Cheryl go (especially when I felt she had the stronger lip sync), however with Baga having three wins under her belt it wouldn't make a whole load of sense for Cheryl to progress ahead of her.
I am very excited for the finale. I am definitely on Team DDC!

What a lipsynch! It made me cry, I felt it was really uplifting and so quintessentially British drag.
Cheryl was a pointer sister throughout but she did look the best she looked all season. She’s so bubbly and fun, it will great to see what she can do when she stops shopping at Karen Millen.
I’m conflicted about Baga. It’s clear she’s been wearing some plot armour for some time now. Given she did Amy Winehouse in the first challenge and is known to do her regularly...it feels like a Mambo Number Five level of lip synch shade being thrown to pick that song.
I do wonder about Baga’s relationship with her mum, obviously it’s all between them and not really any of our business. But given the complex relationships queer people can have with our families, I am starting to wonder if that pairing was all so Ru could be her usual Trauma Vampire self. Am glad they didn’t indulge her, but crikey it was uncomfortable to watch (and I am not just talking about those eyebrows.)

I think this has been an excellent season, even the judges seem to be having a lot more fun than the last few US seasons, it's been a breath of fresh air. I was surprised the BBC has commissioned it for another season, given how popular it has been, I would have thought it would have been snapped up by a commercial broadcaster and filled with product placement and big cash prizes. I'm glad it's staying with the beeb, makes it feel a bit more British. I did laugh last night when the mothers/sisters were brought on: US drag race: (through tears and hand waving): "oh my God mother, you are just so awesome, you gave me life and you are an inspiration to me and I love you so much" UK drag race: "I hope you've shaved your minge mother!" Love it! TBH I don't think any of the commercial broadcaster would touch it with a barge pole, it works on iPlayer and I think for the BBC it's something that can drive younger viewers to the service but I get the feeling it would struggle elsewhere. Pose aired on BBC Two for example and it did very badly. |

Total fit up. Baga should have gone this week and no mistake about it. Cheryl has come out of this as the most likeable, I hope she goes far.
Also, something has been bugging me about who Cheryl looks like as a boy and I’ve finally realised who it is.

It’s a shame Cheryl went but no one was surprised - not even Cheryl. Her and her sister reminded me Chicago actually, doing their walkway.
I didn’t actually like the challenge. I get what they were trying to do with it, but I just felt like Baga (and Viv to a point) were backed into a corner because it was their Mums rather than siblings. Even when you don’t do drag, you always act a bit different around your parents so I got Baga’s unease (to a point).

I loved both finalists (3rd place was right in my opinion) I did get what Ru meant when he said The Vivienne was more of a “next generation” of British Drag wheras Davina represents the more classic drag. Can see why Viv won for this reason |

The Vivenne seemed more American pageant drag than British. i think it was obvious who was going to win, but think Davina would have been the better choice.

Predictable...I liked Davina more, but Viv is certainly a worthy winner which can't be said for the last few US winners x

While I was Team DDC all the way I am absolutely delighted for The Viviene. She gave a stunning final performance, amazing runway and both queens delivered my favourite lip sync of the season!

I don't see why they even bothered to have Divina and The Vivienne lip sync. I felt Divina gave the better lip sync but still didn't stand a chance against The Vivienne.
I would have preferred if Divina won, The Vivienne just seems very smug.

I was team DDC but sadly it wasn’t meant to be. As much as I loved her runway look (very Ginger Spice 2019), it just wasn’t the right one for the final. I think everyone has known for weeks that The Viv was going to win and as competent as she is... I can’t stand smugness.
There’s nothing wrong with being good and knowing it, but what was interesting I how on very different sides of the fence DDC and TV were with it. DDC has worked hard at her talents and skills and wanted (deserved) validation, whereas TV just seems naturally gifted to the point of smugness.
That’s why I felt DDC should have won but I get the impression RuPaul is looking for something much more polished and shiny... thus the winner. Don’t get me wrong, The Viv is a deserving winner. But in the UK I think we’re used to the idea that reality tv winners are supposed to have a lot of heart and humility to earn the win - not just walk in fully formed.

The lip-sync song was bizarre. Definitely one of the odder choices, especially for the final. It's just a rotten office party song to me.

I agree with the choice of the final lip-sync song, I wanted something more camp/cheesy/pop/fierce (insert drag/gay adjective here).
I thought The Vivienne was the best queen over the course of the series, even with her blip in the girl group episode, which I don't think she was even particularly bad in.
Divina was the better queen in the final episode though, with her dress in my opinion, and the lip-sync. I was happy with either of them winning in hindsight although at the moment in the final, I expected Divina to win.

UK season should have been out this autumn but something got in the way of filming...no idea what.
So we should already have our second winner.
The overlap wasn't planned but they can't keep backing up things for a theoretical ideal time

Felt a little underwhelmed with the first episode of Drag Race UK tonight. Didn't get the same feeling as Season 1 and honestly some of these queens are annoying AF and some of them are rough AF, as were some last year but the difference is last year the rough ones still had good personalities. I dunno, it didn't quite hit it for me but of course the season could grow.
I like Laurence so far and for some reason Tayce just cracks me up.
The elimination was a pretty bizarre choice though.

Pretty much share all your opinions and thoughts! It wasn't bad, it was good, but yes there was just something that didn't quite hit right. Certainly potential, bizarre to say that a second season needs to 'find its footing' but thats what it felt like. Perhaps now the UK queens saw the success of he first season and are going in trying to 'edit' themselves which is a big criticism the US queens get. The elimination? Odd. |
