Do we know if this has any ounce of substance? The Sun obviously aren't massive SS fans, describing her tour as a 'car-crash'.
Give the girl a break! I'm not a massive fan, but god people love to rip her to shreds. She can sing and act- but cause she doesn't act like the peoples princess, people tear her down.

Sorry - but sexual harassment is sexual harassment. I won't give anyone on a break if they overstep that particular line.
Given the legal implications of making such an allegation, I suspect the lawyers would have been all over this before it was published.
No matter how big a star you are, you aren't allowed to act like that.

Ah well it's been a few days since a scandal in London theatre!
I'm sure it'll all come to light in a few days.

Well if it's in the Sun it must be true. After all they did publish the "Freddy Star at my hamster" story.

I don’t think that is anything to get all upset over. Every single day there is joking and innuendo between cast members and creatives in the theatre- and long may it continue. I suspect that ‘story’ has had many details left out (if it’s true) to make it more anti-Sheridan

Sheridan and size-questioning in the same story- whoever would have imagined it?

I'm sure that whether it is true or not they will keep on digging until they can find any more nonsense stories that may or may not be true.
Good old Great British gutter Journalism!

If the story is true, they have to show her the door! I am sick and tired of all this talk of work-place banter.Put yourself in the place of the dancers trying to make a living and not wanting to speak up because the so-called star of this show can’t keep her mouth shut or her mind out of the gutter.Thank goodness someone has stepped forward to report this. Btw,how do you square her comments with this being a kids panto production of Joseph? If true it is sexual harassment.

If it was reported that Jason Donovan had asked which female cast member had the best boobs, you can guarantee that the usual people on here would be up in arms about it. It's shocking that Sheridan Smith should get a pass for the exact same thing.

Amen - this is gutter journalism. Vague, third hand, and even if a smidgen of truth, context for such a thing is everything. I would have no opinion at this stage as the story is a headline grabbing nothing.

The Sun is a rag of a paper that will write whatever it wants to fit its own agenda.
If a company member was genuinely offended, they should have gone to the production manager and not The Sun. 💰💰
I dare say it wasn't a random out-of-the-blue comment, but rather something fitting of a conversation the dancers were having with her. Context is everything.

It's shocking that Sheridan Smith should get a pass for the exact same thing. Nobody is getting a pass for anything. None of us knows what went on, if indeed anything did at all. I'm not going to condemn someone on the Internet just because that ridiculous excuse of a newspaper prints something.

Let's look at the power imbalance here:
Leading performer v ensemble member Established name v unknown
It is easy to see why it would be hard to make an issue internally
If it is true, it is not acceptable and action should be taken.
And in this litigious age, lawyers would have been all over this before it went to press.

Blaming the messenger is not a good look.
It is wrong to assume The Sun is always right or always wrong.
But on a story like this, they wouldn't risk publication without credible sources and a lot of checking.

Blaming the messenger is not a good look. I’m not blaming the messenger. I’m just questioning your belief that The Sun gives a flying f*ck about the truth! The story could well be true, that’s not the point I’m making. Just that The Sun is not a reliable source of anything.

Prefer to read forum rather than post, but as this discussion is ongoing thought it useful to note that Smith has denied the allegation earlier on Twitter, writing that 'Unfortunately this is completely made up nonsense yet again'. Not that ends the issue, but it's significant that she has publicly dismissed the story completely.
Also, while I understand valid discussion of power imbalance etc., if someone has been made to feel uncomfortable I do feel that writing into the Sun's showbiz column really isn't the best way of addressing the issues. The issue isn't being treated with any care at all in the shoddily written article.
Tackling inappropriate behaviour in the workplace is a matter of great importance, but in this situation there is currently a lack of credible information.

If the story is false, then SS has to sue the newspaper for effectively accusing her of being a sex pest. The legal implications suggest that the newspaper is very sure of their position in this case. Btw it was very widely reported that the tour was indeed a ‘car-crash’ in terms of SS’s erratic and manic behaviour on stage.Reports of her flashing her underwear on stage, giving her hotel room number to an audience member, slurring her words, appearing time and time again to be on the point of some complete emotional meltdown etc are incredibly worrying.I became a fan way back with Two Pints Of Lager, but her personal and professional life seems to be in a constant state of turmoil.

To some newspapers lying and then paying compensation is a workable business strategy.
As always in this sort of situation, rather than believing the first thing you hear it's better to wait a while and see how the story develops.

Exactly why the way someone people have faith in The Sun is so dangerous.
