On the above note, for a bit of fun...who COULD they cast. viserys and I were talking about Harry Styles as a Jason equivalent for today...and I can't lie...I'd buy a ticket. I could see them going for someone like that little One Direction person that isn't Zayn, Harry, Cheryl's ex or the one on X Factor.

It is a smart move I'm thinking. Fair enough there are plenty of older people that booked for the King and payed top price but the show wasn't a sell out. Joseph appeals to all ages. Hopefully they have some sort of family deal so this isn't limited to the wealthiest. I'm not holding out hope.

This is brilliant news!
Joseph is an incredible musical done well and deserves so much better than the Kenright tour.
The Jason Donovan version had just the most incredible buzz. And Linzi Hately belting out Pharaoh Story every night - epic! The Adelphi was fun as a tribute to Stephen Pimlott and walk down memory lane but did show that this version was very 90s!
I heard Nigel Wright talking in a pod cast about how that 1991 version was re orchestrated to make it a contemporary pop sound but how it would be completely different if they were to do it again now, so assume there will be some exciting new arrangements.
ALW repeatedly said about a year ago he wanted Liam Payne to do it. In itself a fine idea, but my God the audience bad behaviour thread would be through the roof.
Anyway, was this and Starlight that got me in to MT so am thrilled. What with this, a new Evita and the return of JCS, Summer 2019 gonna be wonderful. With the endless tired tours we forget how incredible these shows were. Wonderful to see new productions!

The buzz in this thread has sold me, I’m definitely going to try for a ticket!
Does anyone have a link to a mailing list or something like that I can sign up to for tickets? x

The 1991 production ran for 3 years at The Palladium and not many shows could do that. There was just something about that production that captured the public's attention and made it the huge hit it was. Both Jason and Philip were inspired casting, Darren Day, not so much.
They definitely need a big name as Joseph, and I don't mean someone that only musical theatre nerds know.

Theres no doubting that the Palladium version was a real blast. They might go pop star for the narrator rather than Joseph. I don’t think that any of 1D would be remotely interested though. Maybe one of Blue or that lad off of Hollyoaks off of the jungle? Tits & teeth, not neccessarily talent.

Well I can't believe it's 50 years. I was a mere child when it was written. Think it will do really well. Jo public love Joseph and everyone knows what it is. But I can't believe that no one has mentioned the obvious choice for Joseph
Fleeshman! !!!!!!
I thank you.......

So many great memories of the 1991 production, first ever visit to the Palladium. Linzi Hateley singing Pharaoh Story still gives me goosebumps, I bought her album in the foyer.
There's a great behind the scenes of Schofield preparing for his debut, they showed it on Going Live just before his opening night. It is on YouTube.
I just remember being so disappointed seeing the low rent tour version years later.

When ALW was casting the 2007 production (via TV), he said he wanted a Joseph who was a cross between Jude Law, Justin Timberlake and a young Michael Jackson! I wonder whether he'd consider going down the TV casting route again? I suspect not, given that last time, instead of the stereotypical blonde, popstar type he wanted (and was definitely pushing for), the public chose a dark haired (though, admittedly, easy on the eye and gym honed) Musical Theatre performer!

First show I took my kid to (aged 7, Wimbledon). Prompted me to change my pic. Ladies, Gentlemen, and those who have yet to decide. I give you Donny Osmond. In a loin cloth.

It definitely can’t be Charlie Stemp because I’m pretty sure Mary Poppins is beginning previews in August.

E-mail from the Palladium calls it a brand new, reimagined production

Well personally I am delighted. This show provided a 6 year old version of myself with his first obsession and his first window into the fabulous world of musical theatre which went on to be a huge part of his life, so I hope that this will be accessible to other young children (i.e, without a £90 ticket price) and have the same effect on them.

Is Michael Harrison Entertainment the company behind the Palladium pantos? Hopefully that means it should be a quality production?

E-mail from the Palladium calls it a brand new, reimagined production Maybe in this production, it's Mr Potiphar rather than his wife, who tries to seduce Joseph!

If @ryan is in charge of casting it'll be Fleeshman, Bateman or Fraser.
