Pharaoh Story was down a tone, I think, for anyone else who’s musically inclined and nosey. Enough to make it more manageable for Linzi I guess but still packs a punch. Her part in the megamix was soooo low - I guess that’s Alexandra’s key. So glad she didn’t have to do the whole song in that key. I may have actually fist pumped the air when we got “Chained and bound afraid alone, Joseph stood before the throne” in the right key though. She’s still got it! I felt exactly the same at that bit! think Pharaoh’s Story is the same key as it was for Sheridan in 2019. I’ve not seen Alexandra in the role yet so don’t know if it’s the same for her too.

I’m serious contemplating booking more Linzi dates. I’ve got tonight and then 4th September booked, but this afternoon was so amazing I’m tempted to book at least 1 more now.

What an amazing afternoon, I’ll never forget it. First show back - and what a performance from Linzi. Wish I could do it all over again tonight! The joy and love for her from the audience was palpable. Wonderful!

What a magical afternoon that was and what a fantastic atmosphere - I bet the cast have never had a matinee audience like that before. If anyone was there who hadn't gone to see Linzi or even know who she is would have been very confused when she came onto the stage and got that huge ovation before she even sung a note. I had never seen Linzi perform the role before so only have the cast recording to go by but she still has it in droves and sounded wonderful. She was excellent at the comedy too and shows what a good actress she is. I do like this version of Joseph and pleased they have kept Sheridan's version. I also find it highly amusing seeing the kids wearing beards - I have a strange sense of humour. Jac is a great Joseph too and Jason is Jason but I love it. I don't blame those of you that have booked for tonight as well, if it wasn't so hot in the west end I might have done the same but I will definately be booking for another of Linzi's shows. I would be interested to hear the views of people who see it with both Linzi and Alexandra. Lovely to meet up with alison (and thanks for your help with the ticket), sorry I didn't see anyone else but the place is a monster of a building isn't it. Talked to a woman and her young daughter on the tube home who had been and I explained how special it was today as they didn't know but I have a feeling they will now be boasting to their friends that there were there when Linzi performed the role for the first time in 30 years.

The more I read about Linzi's first show back, the more excited I'm getting for when I see her!!! I grew up with the 91 album, so getting to see her and Jason together is going to be something very special!

think Pharaoh’s Story is the same key as it was for Sheridan in 2019. I’ve not seen Alexandra in the role yet so don’t know if it’s the same for her too. I've got tickets to see Linzi in a few weeks, and I can't wait. Especially after today's comments. She does comedy really well (she was a great Mme Thenardier in Les Mis) so I look forward to seeing her doing this version. However, it's a bit frustrating they have kept the same key as Sheridan used in 2019 - if Alexandra and Linzi can perform it in the original key (no disrespect to Sheridan, but they are both better singers, so I assume can manage it OK), then I wish they would revert to that this year. *EDIT: When I say 'original key', I mean the 1991 Palladium production. Not sure if that's how it was written in 1968.

I’m back in on the 28th July which is an Alexandra show and it’ll be interesting to see what she’s like. chestwig was in last night and said her performance reminded her of Whitney Houston so we will see!

dontdreamit, when I saw Alex on Monday, I definitely got Whitney Houston vibes in the way she was singing. 1 hr to go before curtain up! I’m seriously getting excited for this now. This is going to be a special evening at the Palladium.

Queuing again for tonight's show. Just mentioned to one of the ushers that I'd been in earlier and she said the show had a totally different energy with Linzi.

Just upgraded myself to the stalls for this evening (don't worry, I paid!) - for £20 more than where I'd been moved back to in the Upper Circle I think it's definitely worth it - hopefully for the atmosphere as well as to avoid the worst of the heat rising!

So jealous for all you who live near London and can travel to see Linzi! I’m way up in the Scottish Highlands and my one trip to London misses all of her performances. I was OBSESSED with both Joseph and Carrie in high school so Linzi was a huge part of my love for musical theatre. So glad to hear she’s getting the love she deserves! She must be absolutely loving being on stage right now.

Linzi got a huge ovation this evening - only the second time in all my years of theatregoing that I wasn't annoyed at audience noise over the overture!

Interval here. Atmosphere brilliant again and I am loving being back in a theatre- there is nothing like the buzz of live theatre, and having a double Linzi show for my first trip back since the summer is just perfect.

What a performance!! Linzi has still got it. Yes, alot of it was in a lower key and hardly any of it is belted the way it was, but that was 30 years ago. Regardless, she still delivers as the Narrator. I really enjoyed her comedy bits too. I felt Sheridan Smith was mugging it up all night, playing Sheridan Smith, but Linzi made it her own, whilst still being the Narrator. And she has the moves too! It was a glorious afternoon at the theatre.
As for Jason Donovan... i barely understood a word he sang, Did he make some words up as he went along? Very bizarre.
That final megamix felt very long too.
But it was Linzi Hateley that made it as great as it was and i look forward to seeing it again soon.
