There's not much news on this. Any rumours re casting?
I'm really keen to see this as this a favourite show of mine and I avoided the awful Kenwright tat that they shoved in as filler at the Dominion and Phoenix. So last time i saw this in London was the superb revival at the Adelphi, which had too short a run. Jamie Lloyd was assistant director on that, so interested to see his take on it.

Why not? It's a fictionalised account, not an exact retelling of someone's life. The only thing that matters is talent! I can't believe we might be about to have essentially the same debate in multiple threads at the same time... |

I'm pro-color blind casting. But you don't specifically seek out a certain race when the story does not call for it. If the actress happens to be black - so be it, and by all means. But to shut out other POC's and any other race under the sun when it's completely uncalled for, is just not solving the problem.

why not cast the one who sings the best at the audition?
where are the people that scream racism when they posted they only search for white actresses?
all silent? why is the outrage not as big as the other way round, it is discrimination

There's a difference between casting a black actress as she is the best for the part and saying it can only go to a black actress. Complicated further as the role is portraying a white woman (though that switch seems to work for Hamilton) |

I don't think anyone who has been an advocate for color blind/color conscious casting had THIS in mind. |

I kind of think it’s ironic that there’s uproar when they cast a white actor as Maria in West Side Story and yet when they are casting a real life person (who was white).. they state they want someone black..
