I know in the Washington production (starring Christine Dwyer of Wicked) they had a pool table in the middle of the venue and the actors acted around and through the audience for a bit.. From the chart of this theatre it doesn't look like it's that kind of venue. Does any one know what the staging was lie on Broadway?

I think the Broadway production was performed in a similar way with the pool table in the centre that the actors acted around and the audience was sat surrounding it.

Yes, they had a bar and a pool table in the centre as you can see on those pictures. The bar was fully functional. Some audience members would sit at the tables at the bar and the actors would act around them, climbing the tables or coming into or out of the audiences on the side. It was pretty cool. I've sat on both sides of the centre "stage" but never at the tables though... I'm pretty curious how they are going to do this at the arts. There is no set besides the bar and the pool table. So the stage will look pretty empty if the don't change something...

What a treat it could be- to have Ramin act so up and close

Are there any shirtless scenes? It might inform how close I sit... Do you think Kerry would do that?

Same! I suspect I shall give in and gamble on it. The fact that in that venue being very close to Ramin is also a selling point...nice view and all... Are there any shirtless scenes? It might inform how close I sit... I saw it in Washington DC, and not in that production! www.studiotheatre.org/plays/play-detail/murder-ballad

She was excellent. Great voice and presence; reminded me of people I knew in high school. I'd never seen (or heard) the show before, but the entire cast was intense and impossible not to watch. And I don't say that just because they all didn't nearly sit in my lap at some point!
Also, to add to the questions above about staging -- it was on the second or third story of a multi-use theatre that my local DC-area friend was familiar with. Until she told me after the show, I didn't realize it wasn't ACTUALLY the theatre's bar they had just dressed up to look more divey. They didn't have any drinks on tap, but they did have an entire bar setup with refrigerated bottles of beer, cider, wine, etc.

Wow, the cast looks pretty amazing! Struggling to justify paying such high ticket prices for a one-act show though. Especially as I know The Arts isn't the nicest theatre to frequent.. Not even a concession period for previews!
Do people reckon this will likely get discounted in the future, or will the strength of the cast list make it a hot ticket? Think I'm going to wait and hope for the best...

This was originally advertised as running until December. Does anyone know if that will still be the case? From what I've been told there has been talk of a possibility of extending for 4 weeks. Nothing confirmed yet though.

4 weeks would only take it to late November though.

The friday 5pm shows are much cheaper than the rest of the run - and have the added joy of not being surrounded by obsessive Kerry fans. Anyone know if the others are out on these shows too, or just Kerry?
(im not that fussed tbh, i adore the score and will happily hear it performed by anyone!)

Interesting Kerry is enough of a draw to justify discounting just because she's not performing

It could be coincidence - it might just be that 5pm on a Friday is a weird time to do a show so they've discounted it for that reason, and Kerry isn't performing on those performances for a reason unknown to anyone but her and the producers who've agreed to it. Wish they'd reduced the price of all the tickets though, not just the expensive ones, I'd happily go to a Friday performance if there was a more palatable option than £25. XP

Does anyone know who will be performing instead of Kerry in Friday Matinee performances?

Does anyone know who will be performing instead of Kerry in Friday Matinee performances? Someone with a megaphone no doubt. Same effect.

Was contacted by Arts Theatre this afternoon as the first preview on Thursday 29 September has been cancelled. They are offering a swap to another date or a full refund. Have now swapped to the Saturday night (now the second preview). I usually avoid first previews and this just confirms the risks of booking for the first performance.

I don't think Kerry fans are that overly obsessive anymore. Or perhaps we are just more practiced at hiding our obsession?! I do miss the dramas of days of old though.
