Do we know why La Ellis doesn't do the full schedule? It's not like it's a particularly taxing role.
Unless you find taking your top off and putting it back on taxing.

I went in open minded (mainly for Kerry Ellis)
It started and I was a bit meh for about 15 mins. But then my mind didn't wander for the rest of the show and I was right there with it the whole time.
Agree that Victoria is the star - that woman's voice is amazing. Ramin was great - voice is sublime and he is gorgeous (not sorry). Kerry was also really great - suited her vocally and I think it was the best I've seen her act.
I like the score - some of the songs are still going round in my head now.
Do agree that it feels like the cast are a bit too good for the show. They have too much talent but I enjoyed it overall.

Anyone managed day seats for this one? Thinking of going to the matinee today?

I agree with most opinions on here. Victoria is easily the best member of the cast, which surprised me as Kerry and Ramin were my initial draws.
I understand that this is an exceptionally established cast of talent, but those prices are unjustified for such a basic set and tiny venue.

Looks like Tom89 and I were having the same theatre day with Side Show matinee and MB night.
Enjoyed MB. Nice and rocky. Good fun.

Well this must have been completely lost on me because I hated it. I booked because of Kerry and Ramin having not heard any of the songs before. Thank god - dreary songs that all sounded the same to me. I also disliked the book - what is the point? Are you meant to care about any of them? Are you meant to feel for any? I certainly didn't. Plus the twist suddenly came out of nowhere (for me) and was very quickly over. I also didn't get the final song.
I sat in C8/9 which I think is as a close as you could get as you only really missed feet. I paid 32 - thank god I didn't pay full price. I am so disappointed as I desperately wanted to like it but if there was an interval - I would have left!

Talk about best laid plans: I deliberately arranged to see this on a Friday matinee to avoid Kerry Ellis only to read on Twitter just now, while on the train to London, that Natalie McQueen is on as the Narrator today & therefore Kerry will be on this afternoon. Typical!

I'm certain she doesn't know of my existence. My stage door habit does not include speaking to people whose performances I'm not keen on. While she has a very good voice her acting leaves me cold.
I can't say I enjoyed Murder Ballad. Neither the style of music nor the plot were to my taste. Not that I was expecting them to be. I only went to see Norman Bowman, as I haven't seen him in anything for ages.
I though Natalie McQueen, as the Narrator rather than Sara, gave a good performance. I found myself rather wishing I'd seen her as Elphaba.
The production was okay but I ignored the video projections as much as possible, not being very keen on that sort of thing. Chair abuse - check! And I'm not sure I have ever seen so much undressing & dressing in a show before.
Thanks to Theatremonkey for the very useful seat information. I forsook my usual front row preference in favour of row J (technically behind a pillar but as the entire rest of the row was empty I moved in 2) and was glad I did so. I was somewhat surprised that even though I turned up only half an hour beforehand the box office weren't doing any discounts, given the stalls at any rate was half empty. The rest of the audience seemed more enthusiastic than I was: a couple of people even stood.

Had a very unplesant experience with Arts theatre yesterday. I booked my "slightly restricted" BB row seat for Murder Ballad back in July for £25. In September Arts Theatre messaged me notifying that front row is now very restricted. They suggested to move me further back, and I agreed. When I came to the theatre today I found they moved me to the equally restricted second row. (Why not further?) And asked me to add £25 to get a better seat. I was surprised, as my friend, who booked restricted front row later than me and for a smaller price, got moved to the row G for free. In fact, there were only 2 people left in that very restricted second row from where I couldn't see almost anything. This felt humiliating

Bad customer service there.
When I was at the first preview I had booked the very back row but they said we could all move forward but I think that was more to make it look fuller than anything. In fact they were tweeting it was a sold out show when it was anything but.

Saw this tonight and really enjoyed it. I've been avoiding some of the comments on here, Not Ryan's, of course. So I thought I was ready for shirt off Ramin. Goodness me. Added to the enjoyment factor.

Kerry Ellis's mum reads this board and runs the box office, Dawnstar. I don't think I'd've been allowed in the theatre if that was really the case! Saw this tonight and really enjoyed it. Am I the only person who doesn't find Ramin Karimloo that attractive now? I much preferred him back when he was playing the Phantom on 2008-9 when he was much slimmer. He looks like he's spent all of the intervening years in the gym & that much muscle doesn't appeal to me, especially with the very large tattoo on top.

I'm kinda sad that I won't be seeing Ramin shirtless lol
This was another ticket that I bought and I'm seeking someone that wants to watch the show, it's a Dec. 2 show at 8PM at G6, I paid £29 for this ticket but we can't talk if you are into a sale =D

Nah, you're not alone, I don't like that caveman troll look with huge muscles either, I'm all for the very British slim weedy type. But I've only ever seen Karimloo live once in Love Never Dies with mask and everything, so basically I'm looking forward to a chance to SEE him, with or without shirt. Lovetheatre is doing discounts for November now, so I bagged D10 for 29.50. It's about the sum I'm willing to pay for this kind of smallish fringe show and saves me the bother of going to the TKTS Booth in the morning when I'm in London.

Another vote for "preferred Ramin's looks back in the days". I feel he's not as over the top muscular as he was when I saw him on Broadway last year. But I still think he looked better before he decided to be Mr. Universe. ;-) Still a lovely guy though. Always gracious and nice to the people who are supporting his career. :-)

I so wanted to like this, but like others on here I found myself not caring for the characters at all. I have actually erased this from my memory - not on purpose, but I was thinking about the shows I saw last weekend and I have virtually no memory of the music, plot etc, it's just so bland.

With the obvious proviso it's entirely up to people to decide how they treat their own bodies... I do feel slightly sad about Ramin's new build, as I do when I see those 'dad bod to ripped bod' articles in the Mail.. The first thing to go, alongside the perceived 'flab', is their beautiful smile. Shortly followed by their personality as exercise and food become their main focus, and all those fun and interesting opinions they had about other things appear to be gone forever.

Saw this yesterday evening. Had there been an interval, I'd have left. Likewise had I had an aisle seat instead of a centre one with people on my left and right who I didn't want to bother. I never felt so bored and found myself constantly checking my watch assuming that at least 15min must have passed since last checking the time only to find out it weren't even 5.
I was in row B and they really shouldn't have sold the first 5 rows at all.
The pros: I liked the cast, they were great and gave everything with the little material they were given.
The cons: everything else. Crappy view (yes, I paid full price), the score felt as if it were just one long samey bad song and I can't even hum a single motif, the minimalistic set, I didn't care for anyone and their relationships and interactions were implausible, the story dragged on an on.
In short: I was so happy when this was finally over and I could leave the theatre. Another 85mins of my life I don't get back.
And I really wanted to like this show as it sounded as if it were my thing: rock score, murder mystery and a stellar cast.
1 star.

I enjoyed this the first time. Went back to see it again the other week and came out loving it. Definitely a grower for me. I'll watch it one more time later this month.
It's great to see Ramin in a non Phantom/Les Mis role. He's clearly having a ball being in this show. I've been following Norman's career for more than ten years and as much as I enjoy seeing him in plays it's great to hear him sing again. Victoria is the star of the show for me. And while I'm no fan of Kerry's acting (or lack thereof) I think she does an alright job in this show.
The front two rows should definitely be avoided though. Even at a discount they should not be on sale.

This seems to be limping along to the end ticket sales wise as Kerry's fangirls seem to be there every evening.
Was going to try and catch Natalie on but not sure it will happen now.
