There were definitely cheaper seated tickets available than that, but not huge numbers. The website says the price range is "£10, £30, £35, £40" so I think the seats were £40, £30, and £10, and I think you're right that the seats are all going to be upstairs and downstairs is going to be just standing spaces for £35.

Totally forgot about public booking opening, but just managed to get through the queue in a few minutes and easily picked up a ticket for Death of a Salesman. Loads of availability on every date I looked at.

Fairly painless booking, half an hour queue and got £20 ticket for Death of a Salesman. Not booked for anything else as it's too far in the future  Did exactly the same - love that the Young Vic always publishes their captioned performances way ahead, so I could easily book for that. |

I booked for a couple of the cheaper, short run plays but it's so far ahead I think I'll wait for the rest until the seat plans/cast are up.

I managed to get cheap tickets for all productions on sale (and a ticket for Spring Awakening). Now I will go and ask for a mortgage because by savings were depleted...

If you're thinking about seeing Tree, it looks like the majority of tickets will be standing and will cost £35 (I'm picturing Here Lies Love all over again) so if you like to sit or get the cheapest tickets, then don't dawdle booking that one.
The Manchester run is at the Upper Campfield Market, so that doesn't surprise me. The Jane Horrocks thing at MIF in 2017 was nearly all standing tickets - there were just a few seats pre-bookable for people with access issues.

Got through easily and booked for 'Blood Wedding', 'Fairview' and 'Ivan and the Dogs'. Wasn't interested in 'Death of a Salesman' so left that one for you all to fight over.

The ongoing Americanism of English, Draft means both an early form of a document and a cold breeze in America, in English we have two spellings with draught for the cold breeze which looks wrong but is correct as in draught excluder. Not particularly funny and quite obtuse. Thanks Neil, obviously that's how you point something out without having to be a dick about it. Honestly draft/draught is not really a word that comes up much in day to day use so I'd never given the difference much thought. But yes, that is how I'd automatically spell it, no it wasn't autocorrect. Sorry we aren't all PERFECT like some people, but I'm glad for the HILARITY a fairly obscure not actually error caused. My GOD it must be HILARIOUS living in perfect grammar land. Erm, gonna stick my oar in to say I thought it might've been an intentional pun on first glance - I remember you having some issues with The Inheritance, and given this board's general tendency towards groan-worthy puns... |

Nope, there are £10 tickets for that age group in all areas, but there's also "Seated Zone C" for £10 with no age restrictions. I got through the queue really quickly and most of the dates I looked at were already saying "only X number of tickets left!" for that option, so I would be frankly astonished if there were more than a dozen available per performance. |

They don't have seating plans for the productions at this point. You either book now at the price you're happy to pay and keep your fingers crossed you get somewhere good, or you wait for a seating plan to be confirmed but risk the production selling out in the meantime. I only ever buy the Zone D tickets and I've never had any visibility issues (indeed, occasionally my £10 ticket will put me right at the very front of the auditorium) so it's not the *biggest* gamble, particularly if you're willing to pay more than a lousy tenner. They do assign the seats once they've sorted out where the seats will be, so if you book now, you can find out before you go where they've put you (and, depending on availability, you may be able to exchange for a different seat/date).

For the dates I looked at during the friends booking there was nothing seated under £30 and on some dates only standing for £35 (but I only checked out a few early dates.) I went back today and got two seated for £30, which is more than I usually pay at the YV, but.....
During Friends booking I went for inexpensive tickets for Death of a Salesman, Blood Wedding and Fairview (I dithered a bit over that one.) So I guess it all evens out....

Is there any way as part of the online booking process you can express any preference for the seat you'd like to be allocated? I'm not really bothered how far back I am but would much prefer an aisle seat.

First time I booked tickets a year in advance was for the Ring Cycle - really don't want to do that for a random show at the Young Vic. Find it very annoying when places put things on sale so far ahead - prefer the Almeida or National approach of announcing a lot but only putting a few months at a time on sale.
