Oh for heaven's sake, so that's the Barbican, the Royal Court, the National, the RSC, and now the Young Vic all in the same month? Maybe regular theatre-goers don't contribute as much money to the day-to-day running of the theatres as we like to imagine we do, but we could contribute a lot more if they just spread their booking periods out a little more.

January 2020?! This seems ridiculous. If theatres really want people to book over a year in advance IMO they should be far more relaxed about returning tickets.

"We will not normally issue refunds. Where possible, tickets may be exchanged for another performance of the same production if..."
I appreciate allowing for exhanging performance dates, but if they want us to stump up and commit to seeing something ~15 months away, I think that returning tickets should be accepted.

Do they do flat-out just returns? I've always found them very amenable to exchanging tickets for a small fee, and I know they're happy to receive returns for sold-out shows, but I didn't think they went the whole hog and let you return a ticket with no intention of seeing the show another day, or proviso that you'll only get your money back if the ticket resells?

Tree is the only production specifically mentioned in the season email alert. It says London dates for it will be announced sooner rather than later. The Young Vic does give credit notes. |

If you are a Friend of the Young Vic they will give you a full credit if you can't go to a performance. (At least that was my experience the one time I couldn't make a performance - Brothers Size - but I can't see that they explicitly state that they do that anymore.)
The Young Vic and the Almeida are the two Friends memberships I keep up because both stage so many plays I want to see and if you book early you can get perfectly good tickets very inexpensively. The £20 I spent to see The Inheritance or £10 to see Twelfth Night or Fun Home were incredible bargains. But, yeah, I generally book WAY in advance and then have to remember to go see the shows!

I think I'll wait and see when the seat layouts, cast announcements and things come up - I've rarely managed to see a production on the date I originally booked and thus far have always managed to get a return for an easier date, sometimes a much better seat than the one allocated before seat layouts were shown (I'd defo have booked one further back for The Jungle if I'd waited). Evening half price previews and lucky dips aren't really an option for me any more because of the distance.

At least it's only priority booking opening the same day as the announcement; those of us waiting for public booking at least have a few days to plan dates (and I've never had a problem getting a good cheap seat waiting for public booking day).

After all the recent booking periods across theatreland, in all honesty I was hoping for a bit of a break. If nothing else it would give my credit card a bit of a rest. I’ve not bothered renewing my membership after it ran out in August, so depending on what is programmed, I may renew otherwise I’ll wait and it will give me a bit of time to sit down with the diary and see what’s possible, particularly with having to book trains from Liverpool/Wigan. If programming is being done until Jan 2020, any bookings are going straight onto the iPad calendar otherwse I’m going to forget all about them and double book with other stuff.

I'd got the impression the Marianne Elliot Death of a Salesman was a West End show, must have misread that last week. Presume the dates for Fairview are a mistake and this should be 28 Nov 2019 - 18 Jan 2020. Which is ludicrously early to be opening booking |

Well, I'll definitely be booking all the main house productions and maybe a couple of the others. It's a good-looking season, though I have my suspicions as to what people will be complaining about most when the inevitable complaining starts...
