Saw this the other night slight enjoyable show, glad I had the chance to see it . The highlight was the original girls appearing during the curtain call, Enjoyable but forgettable, it will find its targeted audience.

I thought this too, Daniel when I read it, as it didn't seem right to me. There are a fair few reprises that aren't mentioned in the programme, otherwise indeed it would be very chatty. I'm sure as well there are some numbers not mentioned ("Hello, Yorkshire I'm a Virgin...") that may form part of other songs?

EP just playing "Dare" on today's show as sung by Gary Barlow. As much as I like mr B I cant help thinking isn't it about time they actually used the cast singing some of the songs rather than relying on his versions?

The depiction of Yorkshire is ludicrous. I spent the first 20 years of my life in Yorkshire - so I should know - it looks and sounds nothing like what was on stage at the Phoenix Theatre! It was completely "Disneyfied". I think this is why I failed to connect with the piece really. The set, costumes and accents - the whole look was off. Thank you. This was one of my issues with it. I found the whole Yorkshire thing over played and incredibly trite. They make the location important enough for it to be mentioned throughout, give it its own song, and then completely eff it up with terrible "op north" accents and pathetic stereotyping. |

I saw this yesterday and enjoyed it, but I don't think it really connected. The score has a handful of notable songs but overall does not bring anything new to the table that was not in the original stage play. The advantage of a musical is that the songs can heighten the emotional punch of a story and this just seemed like a missed opportunity. The cast are all excellent and it appears to be playing well to its target audience who were lapping it up,

he ones who are natives of Lancashire for starters. They are using their native lancashire accents. Hardly putting on generic northern accents as you alluded to. James Gaddas and Joe Caffrey seem to be using their native geordie accents as well. I'm not saying the show is without fault, but to not shy away from a Yorkshire that functions as somewhat part of a migratory North is a lot more realistic than you give them credit for. It would be easy to get the cast to put on uniform Yorkshire accents - but the opening song hammers home the intrinsic link between yorkshire and lots of other counties. "This could be norfolk, could be kent, this could be shropshire, devon, cornwall..." Ultimately, despite the definite geographical settings, the show is aware of its universal themes |

If you're telling me that the range of different northern accents is somehow deliberate then that's certainly a theory. To be clear, I wouldn't care about the accents if it wasn't for the fact that they go on about the location so much, they've made it intrinsic to the story. Forgive me for expecting a bit more effort to make it sound authentic. |

If you're telling me that the range of different northern accents is somehow deliberate then that's certainly a theory. of course its a deliberate decision - a west end musical doesn't get workshopped for this long without basic things like accents being addressed! |

A Lancashire accent is totally different to an Yorkshire accent. The show is, as far as I know, set in Yorkshire - Rylstone in North Yorkshire to be exact. Some Yorkshire and Lancashire accents are near identical. Take a saddleworth accent - no different from a holmfirth accent at all. My point, though, was that they aren't 'terrible' accents whether they are yorkshire or not. Also, the show is set in the fictional town of Knapely. |

Yes, when Todmorden was taken out of Lancashire to become part of West Yorkshire. all the townsfolk struggled hard to speak with their new totally different accent. |
