Rather enjoying this so far, with the exception of Jack McBrayer’s singing which is dreadful (though he is very funny). Stephen Leask is getting a lot of laughs as is Marisha Wallace. Katharine McPhee is great as Jenna. My friend went last night and she was almost angry about how bad Jack McBrayer's singing was! 😆 Btw if anyone is wanting to get day tickets for this this week, i'd get to the box office early-ish. My friend turned up at 9.30 today thinking it'd be fine but she missed out, and they apparently only sell 20 day tickets a day. She said there were about 30+ people in the queue when the box office opened. Surprising really. With plenty of seats still available for tonight you’d think they’d sell the excess stock to those who queue. Seems to be what CFA are doing with TodayTix and they have full houses!

My friend said they announced when they opened the box office it’s 20 tix only (so really only tix for the first 10 people assuming most people buy 2 tix), but for a 1,500 seater venue (and it being half term) you’d think they would sell more day tickets, especially when the show probably won’t be sold out come show time.

Stephanie Torns has now extended as lead Jenna until the 17th of March, still unlikely Lucie would step in then though because 2 of her concerts would be days before her supposed Broadway debut. Seeing as Stephanie only just announced this now I guess it means they had someone else lined up and it fell through or they've literally been looking for someone and haven't found anyone! Glad for Stephanie, she deserves a good run if they don't need a stunt cast.
The cast changes of this show are such a state but it's so entertaining to observe!

I’m pretty sure Lucie Jones must have signed on to be the next Jenna in the West End once Kat McPhee finishes her stint. The timings make sense, and they’re probably just using Lucie’s image in NYC right now for the Joey McIntyre posters because Lucie did her Jenna photoshoot (for London) at the same time as Joey, and they had to use someone because they can hardly advertise the show with just Dr P! I find the constant struggle to find a broadway Jenna amusing too - the problem they have is that, 3 years in, Waitress is now at the stage where it’s not able to sell enough tickets on its name alone, so they’re looking for a well known Jenna who can do that. But it’s hard to find someone famous enough to play the role and boost the box office but who also has the necessary talent to play the role. Sara can’t keep stepping in, and I doubt Kat McPhee would want to do another stint in NYC straight after London. Rumour is they had lined up Anna Kendrick to follow Nicolette Robinson (even though I personally think that would have been a horrible choice. I just really dislike her voice lol!) but she pulled out last minute for a tv show.

Has anyone sat in row AA for the show? Just browsing the website and wondering whether to try them or go further back and to the side.

I thought the show was just in between ok and good. I think I’d have liked it a lot more if I’d stumbled across it on tour or something, rather than entering a hyped up machine. Katharine clearly has a technically great voice but acting wise... just a bit blank really. I do like the romantic resolution of the story. Some good comedy moments, and I loved David Hunter, his acting, singing, character etc are all amazing. The concept of “never getting rid of me” does seem creepy and is a bit clumsily handled. The same story points and character could have been achieved less clumsily without the creep factor I think.
Just left a little cold from the show really, and maybe having seen Come From Away again recently makes it hard to not make that a relative comment, as CFA, for me, is a beautiful show filled with joy and compassion. Clearly many intense fans already going by the audience reactions to some songs and moments which just didn’t seem to make sense out of context of fandom.
I wish I’d enjoyed it more and glad for those who love it.

Saw this last Saturday and really loved it. It has a huge heart. Loved Kat’s voice and the rest of the cast are first rate. Loved Oggie’s comedy number. Would have liked more of Marisha.
Will certainly revisit and think it will be be a big word of mouth hit.

I think some of us screwed ourselves over with this one after being so spoiled with the incredible Come From Away. That's the comment I keep on seeing and hearing. 😂😂

I thought I knew nothing about this show but seems I've heard Rachel Tucker sing it's back catalogue at her concerts over the years.
I'm looking forward to seeing it at the weekend.

That's the comment I keep on seeing and hearing. 😂😂 I'm doing it the other way round - I've seen Waitress and really enjoyed it (with the singing of one character the exception), hoping to enjoy Come From Away just as much on Friday.

Ooooooooh my goodness. This is bad. I mean not funny-bad, but so mild it's almost soporific.
It's not going to survive long, is it? I mean it'll do a year, at least, with the coach parties, but beyond that, nada.
For a show that seems to have as its focus domestic abuse, what on earth is it doing representing and presenting it in this way? If you're going to show it, show it. Don't dilute it, and make fun of it by treating it in the way the writers have in this.
Yes, a few of the songs are pleasing, but the majority of the time it was why are you singing now, and about this?
We just didn't care. And we should have cared in a show tackling this subject.
And what's with the plots? The Oggie plot is just bizarre. And the Jenna plot equally random.
And do we REALLY need the terrible stereotype of the nurse? I'm still cringing... That poor actress. Oh god.
That guy cannot sing, we've established that. Why on earth he was cast. He's not even well known over here. Why not give a Brit the opportunity? I hope one of the covers get given the role once he's gone. But then they'll still have to act out that awful storyline...
Above all it's just bland bland bland.
I think audiences will see this, and maybe word of mouth will end it sooner than the critics will. They're not going to be nice to it that's for sure. And, unfortunately, it deserves the panning it's headed for.
Why can't the lead act? Again, the brilliant British (and International) musical theatre actresses out there, and we get this one? Why wasn't Katie Brayben just offered the role?
Anyhow...I could go on. My partner wanted to leave at the interval, but we hung on...to that sinking ship.
Opening up...but hopefully closing down soon.
Come From Away better restore our faith in these imports.

nash16 I completely agree with your comments. I saw the show last week. I made a New Year resolution to be kinder and took on the mantra "if you've nothing good to say, it's better to say nothing at all". I couldn't find anything good to say about this so I kept quiet. I too nearly left at the interval but stuck it out. I thought it was too "American" too sweet and "nice" (awful word). I put it down to the fact that I am simply not the target audience for this - the last time I said that was for The Girls and look what happened to that! I await the reviews with interest.

I think it'll follow suit with 9 to 5 and Only Fools and garner in 2/3* reviews.

Well, I know the producers are obviously looking to boost some sales- but getting a Love Island contestant to post a story surely isn't the wisest marketing I've ever seen!
And it's also worth noting the girl isn't really 'big' anymore, she was from two seasons ago. Which by the grand schemes of things is old news....

</attachment> Anybody know how to add a picture from a mac- I can't seem to do it for the life of me! Attachments aren’t allowed because we have to pay for storage. To add a pic you’ll need to post it one one of the many image hosting sites (I use postimage.org) then when you have a url click the image button in the menu at the top of the reply window (you need to be using the full reply, not the quick one). The image button is in the middle of the second row of buttons, to the right of ‘mail’.
