Massive roar went up just before curtain, I am such a defus I thought it was Diane Paulus to do one of those first performance’s speeches to apologies if there is going to be any hitches, as it is the first show, then I thought she looked rather young, she invited as to get our cell phones out, then promptly told us a minute later to put them away, also she said make sure you hang around for an extra special encore. Confused why is Diane Paulus doing an extra special encore? That was Sara Bareilles ... no?

So as I’ve posted before, I’ve gone into Waitress without being overly exposed to it. I haven’t listened to the full cast recording and I haven’t watched loads of videos. I nearly even didn’t bother going tonight but decided that I should as it would have been a waste of money. And I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sorry haters but Katharine was fantastic! The show is really funny and is wonderfully put together. I loved the integration of the band on stage!
The whole cast did a fantastic job. As I said Katharine did a great job and anybody doubting her casting should really give her a chance. Laura and Marisha suited their roles perfectly both bringing a lot of humour. And I have to talk about Jack McBrayer who was hilarious! He hasn’t got the strongest singing voice but he was absolutely charming.
As you’d expect from a first preview, the audience were incredibly responsive and enthusiastic but it meant the atmosphere was incredible throughout.
It all seemed to go really well for a first preview. Nothing that I particularly noticed that went wrong. Randomly the house lights went down about 15 minutes before the show started but that’s about it.

I wouldn’t get too excited about the pies.they are tiny and £6. A rip off. And they LITERALLY put tons of cinnamon in the oven they heat them up with so the theatre reeks of it. Also as others have said- the stage is really high. The highest I’ve ever seen for a musical actually! In the front row tomorrow so will make sure to report back!

The special treat at the end turned out to be Waitress badges, but as people had expected big finale, Sara went onstage and sang her new single!

Really enjoying it so far! Sara Bareilles came out at the beginning and said that there is a special surprise at the end of the curtain call. What a first night! "Used to be mine" was stunning.... Sara Bareilles sat behind me for the show....It was quite magical...

Speak for yourself, I love a good freebie. I've already got my free pie voucher for my visit, if I get given a badge too I am going to be buzzing! 😁

I’ve been waiting for 2 months to go to a LW Theatre again so I could use my free champagne voucher they sent me at Christmas! Although £6 for a pie, I will pass!

Oh damn... Well that's... busier than your average Wicked. Looks like a more pleasant environment than Heathers tbh.

When I see this I'm gonna avoid stage door.

I’m so glad that I have zero interest in going to the Stage Door at shows. I don’t think I could cope with that.

That looks like a nightmare. I wonder if Jack M. will like this aspect of live performance or maybe it's back to the safety net of telly for him.

It's the first night, of course Stage Door is going to be busy!
I'm sure it will soon settle down.

Seeing this on the 23rd, really pleased the reviews from the first preview are positive! Starting to really look forward to this now and, £6 or not,I’m def having a pie!

People on this very board have spoken very earnestly to me about the importance to them of having a glass of wine from a theatre bar, so I will not be judged for choosing to drop £6 on a teeny tiny jar of pie until people start boycotting theatre bars for their extortionate prices.
