Holy crap, it's Miranda Hart! 😮 Hate to leak it here...but it’s Jane McDonald making her triumphant return to the West End

You lot clearly need your Annie education. It's obviously Anita Dobson.

I tell you what, a few years younger, I'd love to see Jodie Prenger give Becky a go, she'd be a hoot!

Oliver Thompsett is tweeting about having lots of reading to do for research for his next roll? Hello I’m a doctor? Guess we’ll see...
Edit - he just outright denied it on twitter so that doesn’t bode well...

I have the feeling that this show is going to flop big time in London

"We are SO thrilled to announce that the one and only Katharine McPhee will be playing Jenna in #WaitressLondon 💗
She wowed audiences as Jenna in Broadway’s Waitress the Musical, so we’re excited to welcome Katharine to the West End this February."

Katharine said on Twitter a couple of weeks ago that her postponed US tour/concert dates will be rearranged for next year, so I reckon it's likely she'll do a fairly short stint and there will be a British Jenna to take over after a few months, which was also suggested a while back.

Great choice. She's very popular and I'm sure she will bring people in. Not to mention, she's great in the role.

That seems a bit of a slap in the face to her fans. cancels her tour due to 'vocal problems' but suddenly ok to head a west end run. just be honest
also agree I don't get a good feeling on this lasting over here, especially in such a big theatre and she really isn't a name over here

This is such a weird choice. She's not a name here in the slightest, she's not someone who is going to sell tickets or generate much extra press. A UK lead would've been a much, much smarter idea. I also think if anyone is a fan of her, then they'd also be fans of the show, so would be seeing the show anyway. Seems like a bit of a stupid decision to me. Would've much rather seen one of our own incredible actresses do the role.

I only had very little interest in this show before, but might have gone to tick if off my list. But with Katharine McPhee? No way.

As a Smash fan (team Ivy obvs) I’m intrigued enough to see this now and hear Ms McPhee live!

I also think if anyone is a fan of her, then they'd also be fans of the show, so would be seeing the show anyway. Seems like a bit of a stupid decision to me. Would've much rather seen one of our own incredible actresses do the role. To be fair though, there aren't many of the British "names" being thrown around that would sell more tickets or generate more extra press than McPhee will either. I guess they think it's in safe hands seeing as she's done it on Broadway already.

Anyway, for my money the person who did a good job on Broadway is a safe pair of hands to open a show with. Also I am trash for Smash so I'm happy.

It was obvious, at least to me they would cast a name in this and given she has played the role on Broadway, Ms McPhee was the leading contender. It will be a hard sell in the WE. No Tonys, and the so called "well loved film" is nothing of the kind.
