"Fiddler on the Roof transfers to the West End for a strictly limited run, as the Playhouse Theatre is specially transformed into an immersive space for this perfectly-tailored production"

I presume a similar layout to how they set it up for The Jungle: central stage area was built up over the middle of the stalls, with seats surrounding it ("cafe seats" for The Jungle, I presume more traditional banked seating on each side for this). The dress circle was on sale as normal but the upper circle was closed.

The layout of the stalls, based on the ATG seating plan, looks rather unusual for this at the Playhouse.

Thanks for that - looks vaguely similar to The Jungle - assets.lovetheatre.com/assets/30/400125/seating_plan.gifStage is in roughly the same place anyway. For that they built up a platform at (I think) the usual level of the stage, running across the usual stalls. There was a bank of 5 rows of seats at the back, which were presumably the normal back rows of the stalls. Seats near the stage were laid out like a cafe. I presume for this there will be banked seating on both sides. Are the circles on sale?

Can I buy a cheap cushion seat, 'cos I genuinely enjoy sitting on cushions or beanbags at the theatre when given the choice...

Dress Circle Front Row "Restricted View Due To Safety Rail" price £125. That seems astronomical.
Most of stalls priced £99.50 or £125 . Front stalls are £75. For some reason there is a single seat in the stalls, N24 priced at £20 surrounded by others for £52.50, but not stated to be restricted view though there must be a reason for the lower price. I've booked it anyway. Wanted to see Fiddler again without paying too much so that will do me
Only bookable by ATG Theatrecard holders at present or West End / London Theatre presales. If most or all the unavailable seats have actually already been sold the whole run is likely to sell out.

Wow, crazy prices! Suspect the unavailable seats are just not on sale yet rather than sold.

Doesn't say anything about being restricted so I'll expect to be jumping on my high horse and berating ATG if it is ...

So judging by the other seating plans online it looks like there is still a stage at the front but with a runway extending into the stalls - maybe along the lines of the McKellen King Lear?
Love the poster for this, very classy and retro!

Am i right in thinking that discounting seats before a show has even opened to general booking is unusual ? Even includes Saturdays and not just during the previews. The discounts aren't that great or extensive but even so I wonder about the rationale.

Yes, it has, Encore offer, same at the one this board has. What seats included in the offer do you think are best?

Has this already virtually sold out the stalls for the entire run before it's on general sale? Extraordinary - had no idea show was so popular!
Can't find any side aisle seats on any dates!

They only had a small selection available when they first went on sale, so I'm sure they're releasing them a batch at a time.

Probably because public booking doesn't open until 6th Feb (according to the Menier website) so they must have just released certain tickets.

I’ve never been to the Playhouse before, or seen a production of Fiddler before: is it normal for the stalls to have such an unusual layout?

The altered layout for this show has nothing to do with THE JUNGLE (brilliant though that was) and everything to do with keeping the spirit and sense of the Menier configuration of FIDDLER, which was itself very intimate and enclosed the production in a most unusual way. The initial idea for this production was to transfer it to some sort of "found" space somewhere, but this seems a more practicable solution, both financially and also keeping it within a West End context, especially since the Playhouse can be a notoriously hard venue to book.

Lucky me!
2pm today I'm looking at tickets for the Playhouse and thinking "bloody hell that's expensive". On a whim I scooted over to the Menier site and lo and behold 2 seats dead centre, row B for the matinee starting in 90 minutes.
It's very good. beautifully acted. Male dancing is amazing. A very intimate show - I hope they can keep that when it transfers.
As I say - lucky me.
