I'm a huge fan of these guys, but there are still some shows I have yet to see.....the haunting, The Visit especially. I love how adventurous they are with structure and subject matter, and some of their rag/dance music is truly breathtaking - well with me dancing room it certainly is. what do you think is their finest achievement. If pushed, I would plump for the Scottsoboro Boys, but that certainly could not have come without Cabaret or Chicago.
Have I missed any of their stage work? This list below seems to be inconclusive......
Flora Cabaret Chicago The Rink Liza with a Z Curtains The Visit Steel Pier 70, Girls, 70 The Scottsoboro Boys. Kiss of the Spiderwoman
and then there are a couple of reviews aren't there?

Kiss of the Spiderwoman. Heartbreaking. Although it is a very hard choice as I love their work.

Kiss of the Spiderwoman and then there are a couple of reviews aren't there? Zorba, The Happy Time, The Act (Minnelli), Woman of the Year (Bacall), all on Broadway and Over & Over (based on Wilder's The Skin of Our Teeth, also called other titles), which hasn't (yet) got there. Unperformed shows include Golden Gate (which didn't get past a demo) and Wait for Me World and, as a real rarity, an industrial show for General Electric called 'Go Fly a Kite'. Then you have Kander without Ebb (early and late career), such as Family Affair and, recently, The Landing and Kid Victory or Ebb pre-Kander such as a few shows with composer Paul Klein. Early on Kander wrote the dance music/arrangements for the original Broadway productions of Gypsy and Irma la Douce. Some bits and bobs in other shows such as 'Madwoman of Central Park West', plenty of songs for Minnelli's stage shows and a song for a revival of 'Hay Fever'. Of all of those extras I think Zorba is probably the most effective. I very much enjoyed this book, which gives an insight into their career and working methods - www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0571211690/ref=rdr_ext_tmbEDIT: Remembered something else, a show called Tango Mogador with Abe Burrows about the French Foreign Legion, announced but never happened. Another called Santa Teresa about Eva Peron, I wonder what happened to that one. More info. than anyone might ever need but this breakdown of Fred Ebb's papers at the New York Public Library pretty much covers Ebb's end of it. This is what happens when you want set out be a completist........ www.nypl.org/sites/default/files/archivalcollections/pdf/musebb.pdf

Kiss of The Spiderwoman is probably one of their best scores IMO. I do wonder if we'll ever get a full production on the West End again. If I was producing it, I'd get Catherine Zeta Jones for Aurora. She's no Chita (who is??) but i think she'd be fantastic.
When the OLCR came out, I went to the signing at Tower Records. The only time I have wanted an autograph and waited for hours in the rain...
I'm surprised somewhere like the Southwark Playhouse hasnt done The Rink yet. It would seem to fit the space well. 'Blue Crystal' is beautiful.
