Baz confirms in his column this morning that the King and I will head out on tour next year first in the UK then internatuinal
Curious to see who they get to do the tour

Laura Michelle Kelly was really good as Anna in the US tour (although I she's left the tour for the latest legs), so I wonder if she could be tempted back to the UK?
I also really liked Jose Llana as the King. He's still with the current tour and also played the role at the Lincoln Centre, but I'd imagine he would be free by the time as UK tour starts. I preferred him to Ken Watanabe, the only downside is he looks a little young.

For the King I'd imagine they would either bring someone over or maybe the London understudy

I think Laura Michelle Kelly could only be tempted back to the UK if it was a starring role in London's glitzy West End unfortunately. She's doing well enough in the US without having to come to the UK just to schlep to the provinces. |

I’d imagine this would be doing big month-long sit downs at the “big” venues such as the Liverpool Empire, Cardiff WMC, Edinburgh Playhouse, Manchester Palace as opposed to doing small stops in small venues?

Big venues yeah, but not month long runs, maybe two weeks at most. Is King and I on the same level as Wicked, Les Mis, Matilda, Billy etc in terms of popularity in the UK to justify long runs like that? Not me talking the show down, but curious.

I'll be surprised if it does month long sit downs. it's a show that's done fairly regularly. probably one or two weeks of say. but yes I expect it will do the larger venues then go international
the sound of music did 3 to 4 weeks but had Connie who was a big name at the time and the show itself hadn't toured for a long time

The King and I will be in Zurich in November and I am tempted to go, because I don't know any musicals by Rodgers and Hammerstein apart from the Sound of Music. I'd love to see some more classic musicals.
Cheapest ticket prices I can find are for the back row of the stalls at 55.50 chf (roughly 43 pounds), which already includes a 20% student discount. I can probably save another 5 chf by using a birthday voucher from Ticketcorner. I don't think there are usually any deals in Zurich (it is Switzerland after all: very expensive). It would be my first solo theatre trip, because I don't think I can convince anyone to see this classic with me. To those of you who know the production: would this be worth it?
I also noticed that the balcony is not on sale at the moment (they only have stalls and a balcony in Theater 11, Zurich), so maybe they are keeping it closed as they don't expect many people coming? Either that or the balcony is sold out while there is still plenty of seats in the stalls. Unlikely, I'd say...
