I'm really pleased with this casting.
Wendi Peters is a star and will be a great Queen
Kerry and Carolyn will share that part brilliantly (yes I'm a Kerry fan so biased but think she'll be great).
but for me, best casting of the lot is Natalie McQueen as the Mad Hatter. I Will Prevail (provided its still in) is a very similar style and sing as No Good Deed, which she excels at, so I think thats inspired.

Never heard any of the music to this, so I really wouldn't have an idea what to expect. That said, I'm keen to see Carolyn and Kerry. Suppose I'll do a week evening to see Kerry and then if it's my cup of tea I'll do a Saturday matinee with Carolyn.
I would have presumed that Carolyn would do the venues that Kerry isn't. But the website says another casting will be announced - possibility of another star name?

I'm surprised too. Wonderland is a show that has had no success anywhere and the role of Alice sure didn't do much for the career of Janet Dacal who played it on Broadway.

Not sure if to book for this, I was badly burnt by Wonder.Land which was a mess  I agree I hate the national version. Crazy timing to bring this Wildhorn. version out. The other one received the worst word of mouth ever! I hated it! I saw this was playing Edinburgh and thought it was the National show, the publicity didn't make it clear that it was a different take on the source material. We're probably far enough away from that there London up here to ensure that they dont lose many punters because of the negative reception of the National version.
I was having serious reservations about booking this but as its a different show I may now be tempted. The casting is a big meh from me, no one I'd cross the street to see but no one I'd cross the street to avoid.

Where? Tampa? Yes, it did okay there despite the reviews so I may have overstated the case. It had a very short life on Broadway.

Janet and Darren split up quite a long time ago. Not hear of anything she's done since Wonderland.
Back on topic, the casting for this makes me want to see this. I'm surprised Kerry Ellis would get involved in this, but it's certainly interested me enough to think about booking tickets.

I booked for this last week, a matinee in birmingham. So trust me to decide to do it just a few days before casting news and the info that someone i would like to see is part of it on evenings only!
I'll probably book for an evening now too.

I meant venues such as the Southend Cliffs Pavillion or the New Alexandra in Birmingham where the stages aren't particularly huge hence it won't be a huge touring production, i.e. The Lion King or Wicked. Means nothing, all shows are designed with venues in mind and are to built to be adapted, don't forget, Cameron's Oliver and Les mis went to the Alex in the 90's when the Hipp was being done out, Jersey Boys last year/this year??? went to the Cliff's. Don't judge on the touring schedule. Alex's stage is fairly large. South Pacific showed how big. Easier to get cheap seats there, too! |

Also is Carolyn alternate Alice and playing mad hatter or alternating both roles. |

Its not a Disney show thank goodness (although I do like Disney). It is totally different with the same characters involved but the story is set in New York (sort of). The caterpillar is smoking "something"? The Cheshire Cat hangs out with a latino gang, the White Knight and followers are a "boy band" and the Mad Hatter is a lady trying to overthrow the Queen of Hearts. Sounds weird but I think it works well, with good sets and costumes (if this production is having the same) really looking forward to see it again.
I think kids (older ones not little Disney fans) will enjoy it but they should go not expecting Disney.
