It's just been to Wimbledon and was heavily discounting so can't see it happening. I would love a cast recording though. Isn't it going to Richmond as well?

Having seen it, I am genuinely confused with this hair tucking! I was actually expecting it because some on here made such a big deal out of it, but I noticed it once, when she came out of the Looking Glass in her new outfit. But that was it! Whilst I can't speak for the others that've also noticed it (as I'd hate to assume they're like me!) I know that I'm easily distracted by irritants and annoyances of any kind. Squeaks in cars, whistling noses, loud breathing, hair tucking, etc etc etc!

I do wonder, and I thought this in the thratre too, do you think it bothered you more because one or two made such a big deal of it here so you were almost expecting/looking out for it?

^^ she did it continually when I saw the show. Yes I may have been looking for it, but you can't see what isn't there. Really really poor. Her acting was poor altogether. "Sad" = put tips of fingers together, hunch shoulders and look down at the floor. Very Jason Manford. To quote that famous review "she ran the gamut of emotions from A to B". At least when she was tucking it looked natural. Meow

Nah I know me, I would've noticed it anyway! Just like she was constantly pulling her shirt down and I don't recall anyone here mentioned that?!

I managed to get a £22 ticket for this in Aberdeen last night and I can honestly say I haven't felt as confused at the end of a show as I did after this. It started well, good opening number, acting spot-on, I was already drawn in. But - I just don't know - I got bored, the costumes distracted me - they were just like someone had found an old box in the loft and threw the contents at the cast and said "this will do you" etc. There were some good numbers, but the small Aberdeen audience last night just didn't take to it - it was like pulling teeth getting applause after each number. I felt for the cast, so applauded louder! I saw some of the cast caper on stage a couple of times too - a couple of the guys were giggling at each other and when they had taken their bows I saw a couple of the same guys doing some tongue-gestures (I don't know how to I say what he was doing without being rude? Blush.) to the cast waiting to come on for their bows. They must have been as bored as the audience. I like seeing new things, but this one wasn't for me.

Does anyone know who is playing Alice next week in Dublin? The posters and twitter have Kerry advertised but she tweeted that she'll be doing West End Live next Saturday in London.

It will be Michelle Pentecost. On the website, it has a list of the venues each of the leads is performing in and Dublin is not on Kerry or Rachael's lists.

Bit unprofessional that the official Wonderland twitter tweeted out that Kerry would be doing it. Looking forward to seeing Michelle though.

Well. Thats 150 minutes I'm not getting back. Fairly forgettable score and a really weak book in my opinion. It looked ok, but a bit cheap in places. Poor mans panto. Can anyone enlighten me as to why the 'Looking Glass'/Giant mirror thing took off ala spaceship in the second act? Almost as confusing as the giant UFO that seems to abduct Grizabella in Cats. Quite a few people walked out during both acts not to return, which I thought was fairly rude - atleast wait until the interval/end. Wendi Peters was great and was really surprised by her singing voice. Think we had Jessica Croll as Alice who did an alright job with what she was given. WTF was with those knee high boots though. No-ones worn them since the 90s, well except maybe Prince Charming. One saving grace for me was the sound design. Loud and punchy and appropriately so.

Why on EARTH is it rude? I paid my own money to see it, the show was beyond dreadful and it was a gorgeous day outside. I rarely leave shows but as a consumer I have a right to leave when the standard is what I saw yesterday. Cheap set, awful story, bland music, bad acting and looked like a theme park show. We all disliked it very much indeed I'm sad to say and were happy to leave. 3/10

They were saying that it's rude to leave during the performance, not at the interval.

They were saying that it's rude to leave during the performance, not at the interval. I think if a show is so bad people should be able to do what they want no? Life is too short on a beautiful sunny day to be sat watching something that is so terrible. Being bored at the theatre is torture! We've all been there. Especially if they do not cause any distraction to others and it is in a huge barn of a theatre like the Liverpool Empire.

Including the 3 ladies who got up from the second row of the stalls and left during about 10-15minutes in. I respect that you and your group waited until the interval and I think thats the right and mature response.

I'm astonished at the range of opinions on this. It's extremely rare that I'd consider leaving during a show. I really hope it's not as bad as people are saying. I quite like the soundtrack and Kerry Ellis is an amazing talent so I'm hoping that will be enough. I'm expecting it to be camp and kitsch.

Apparently Natalie McQueen has been off all week so Michelle has been on for the Hatter and Jessica Croll has done the matinees. I don't think Jessica has had many performances as Alice so that may have been a reason why the quality was lacking?

As remark said, leaving in the middle of a performance will always be distracting if not to the performers, then to those in the audience. And a show being so bad is subjective. I have no issue with people that leave in the interval.

I though her performance was a bit panto, but i think half of that comes from the book/script/etc. Whoever was on as the Hatter was incredibly weak I thought. 1st year drama school territory. And bloody hell I wanted to shoot the 'Cheshire' Cat.

Granted if in a small theatre and you are stuck in the middle of a row but I wasn't.

Trust me, even in theatres the size of the Empire, it is entirely noticeable from the stage and around the auditorium as people walk up and out the aisles. Im glad you waited to leave until the interval, but personally, even though I didn't enjoy the production the experience was tainted by various people (mid row) forcing other people to stand up as they pushed their way out of the rows and back up the aisles. It shows a blatant disregard to the other patrons and performers and a lack of respect, especially when its done mid song etc. At the very worst people should leave it until an appropriate scene change if they really feel they can not suffer through to the interval.
