Because it’s a theatre discussion forum and we’re discussing it. Also, the matter of who is on/not on is the only point of interest keeping this thread alive at the moment and that has been for some time. If you want to introduce a new Wicked topic the thread is here, we’re here, go for it. Lucie isn’t even the show now and Alexia is back from what clearly seemed like a Covid breakout. There’s plenty to keep the thread alive with a brand new cast. We can all look forward to that then.

I remember when Natalie Andreou was Standby Elphie and the amount of stick she got as she was off quite a bit in contract turned out she was really unwell.
With Lucie she got a gorgeous voice, personally don't think the Elphie gig was for her

I really really don’t understand why it’s a massive great big deal who is going on when 👀 You get who you get.. just think of it like a kinder surprise but green. The current standby isn’t all that, so it can be frustrating

I like Amy (saw her first ever show as cover Molly in Ghost). Alexia’s back now and she seems to have done a full week (I think?) so fingers crossed this debate can die now 🙂

Saw the show on Friday 24th, seat B17 stalls
Both Alexia and Lucy were on.
There was a technical hitch and we started about 20-25 mins late. The guy who came on stage to give us information did not have a mike and so had to 'shout' for the people to hear. Also the ladies toilet in the stalls area was closed and the stalls and the foyer both smelt of sewage/or blocked toilets.
Questions, I had trouble hearing the lyrics during the big numbers especially from Alexia. I do have slight hearing trouble so I wonder if I was too close to one of the speakers or that they were still having problems. Should I sit further back of from the dress circle. Also do they display a cast list as who is on that night like they do in Phantom?
All the actors on stage were perfect

The toilets were broken at cast change and the smell of them from my seat was disgusting. Many were complaining about it.
For the problem to still not be fixed several weeks later really is not good enough!
Likewise, the poor sound issues have been highlighted on here for a long time. This really is not good enough either.

So you'll only see it if you're entering from the Victoria station/Wilton Road side of the theatre, not the Vauxhall Bridge Road side.

They’ve released the Easter performance schedule. They don’t get Easter Sunday off ? That’s a Bank Holiday isn’t it ?

Bank Holidays aren't a thing in theatre land.

Yes a job in theatre (whether on stage or backstage, foh etc) isn't one you go into with the hope of having bank holidays to yourself. Can't speak for performers but any FOH or backstage crew would be on an increased wage for any BH days worked, so there is also some incentive.

Here tonight. Both Alexia and Lucy on. Fantastic. A few sound issues at the beginning (maybe my seat) but they are brilliant!

No, it’s just a ‘holy day’, and quite often the only other day other than Xmas day that businesses shut. I get why big family friendly musicals might stay open but couldn’t see ‘A Little Life’ setting the Easter Sunday box office on fire. Good Friday & Easter Monday are the bank holidays.

There are cast screens in both lobbies, so you can see from either entrance.

Saw the new cast last night after wanting to see Alexia since 2008! Wow, she’s possibly the best I’ve seen, and I’ve been to some memorable shows including Rachel’s last on Broadway, Jessica Vosk’s last and Kerry’s. She did some Julia Murney-esque option in Defying Gravity (which has now popped up on YouTube), and some of the best acting choices I’ve seen in the role. The audience applause at the end of DG and No Good Deed was quite something, she’s very impressive and loud. Lucy had great vocals and nailed the serious moments of the show but the comedy wasn’t landing. There’s some simple things she should change like leaning more into the toss toss jokes, replacing the sigh with a flirty giggle, and giving time for more lines to land like ‘they’re just shoes let it go’ which can get a laugh when done right. Stalls looked full for a Thursday evening in March, not bad.

Alexia bringing us the Julia Murney BMD option is truly a gift!

Seeing all this praise for Alexia is making my heart so happy. She never really got this fanfare the first time around and hearing people say what I’ve always believed is just amazing.

Plenty of people loved her first time around.
You have to remember that she took over from Kerry Ellis twice: when she went to Broadway and also when she later left the London production.
These were the years I would describe as peak Wicked London hysteria and Alexia could never win in some people's eyes; essentially just because she was not Kerry Ellis!

I do remember, I have literally said this about Kerry/Ashleigh numerous times on this thread. She really didn’t receive that much vocal support at the time. So it’s nice to see endless positive comments unlike all the negative ones that used to happen (just read the comments on the YouTube four elphaba defying gravity with Kerry/Alexia/Rachel/Louise)

All the praise now feels so so long overdue!

And Jess Aubrey made her Nessa debut. That I would have loved to see. I am a big fan of hers since seeing her on the Bedknobs and Broomsticks tour.

I was there tonight and Jess Aubrey was amazing as Nessa - she smashed it. Amy Webb was on as Elphaba and I thought she was great too. Lucy as Glinda stole the show, she was sublime.
