I saw the show Friday ,the atmosphere was a bit subdued,Nothing wrong with Amy Webb’s performance she was very good ,just think many had looked forward to seeing Lucie Jones and were disappointed and she has made quite a fuss about playing Elphaba but now not saying a word of why she is missing.I know all the book to see the show but I book to see shows for my own reasons which is my right and just think the production it’s self should explain the situation. Theatre wasn’t anywhere near full and looking on ATG ,future ticket sales aren’t too healthy either. Gary Wilmot and Sophie Louise Dann were very good, wasn’t keen on Ryan Reid he totally murdered Dancing Through Life. Because those same people are the ones at the stage door presumably. Lets hope Lucie and Helen aren’t sick, theyre probably not and are hopefully just testing positive. But it’s a sage reminder for everyone, both actors and “fans”, that hanging around in groups bellowing at eachother is a really bad idea and likely to get your favourite banged up in iso. So just pack it in, yeah? You have direct access to eachother and to all your favourite stars via your phone so bugger off home and get yourselves on Twitter if you must. And clean your rooms while you’re at it 😌

And we're seeing the entitlement issue creeping in again. It seems to be easy to forget that we have no right to know why anyone is not performing on any particular performance.

They are selling tickets to a musical not a solo concert.

What’s really irritating me is people tagging Lucie and Helen in tweets asking why they aren’t there. It just looks like pure entitlement. There is no guarantee of any particular performer being there, if they are off, that is personal to them, and people are not entitled to an explanation.

I bet the people that are complaining about how entitled it is to ask the performers why they’re off are the same people who felt entitled enough to go to the stage door last weekend and this Tuesday LOL

Are you trying to make me feel old? I vividly remember that first preview when the bubble never came on and there was a show stop and restart! And when he said look it's Glinda, and she appeared, the noise in that theatre was like a rock concert. Never heard anything like it. I still have my grey wicked hoodie from that very first preview.

Well on a whim I got a day seat and paid to see this last night... My word, it was really bad. I mean seriously dreadful. I saw Amy Webb and Charli Baptie as the witches. They were bang average covers, Amy Webb as Elphaba seemed to have a very strange delivery, stilted and awkward. I was surprised to read afterwards she has done the show for a while - I thought she was a nervous second cover. Galinda was the the embodiment of average. Blew a few big notes too.
The whole thing was worse than when I last went (roughly 2-3 years ago) when I felt it looked ready to close. It all felt very subdued, in the audience and in the performance.
Ryan Reid as Fiyero gives just about the most amateurish performance I've ever seen in a major hit show, it is cringeworthy at times. But especially in "Dancing Through Life". He appears to have two left feet, both of them on backwards. As for his singing(!), the elderly couple next to me were trying to contain their laughter. Which I'm glad they did, because I don't think it's good to be unkind to performers mid show.
I could tell he was giving it everything he has, but it was embarrassing just how inept he was. I would be astonished if he was still there in a month's time.
I went really, really wanting to like this show again but I came away knowing for certain I will never waste my time and money again.
Frankly, last night was absolutely dire, so so so so disappointed.
Edit: Additional: after reading the above review, we concur generally, but it looked fullish in the stalls to me. I'm glad someone else noted how poor Fiyero was.

You could leave by the front and avoid the Stage Door altogether. Which is what I advised my team to do in my last CSM gig

A guaranteed block and five tweet long diatribe is your reward.

We have no right to be asking about why someone is off, be that illness or otherwise. If performers wish to say what's going on, then that's their choice, but we should respect what they say and not pry when they decide not to.

Thank god, no hate to Amy of course who I’m sure is great but I really wasn’t looking forward to seeing the show without Lucie on Tuesday.

Charli Baptie is on as Glinda, Michael Colbourne is on as Fiyero, Grace Chapman is on as Nessarose and Rhidian Marc is on as both The Wizard and Dr. Dillamond for the show today (6th February, 2022).
It appears that all the absences this week are Covid-19/isolation related.
