If a composer wanted people riffing, they would write it into the music, no? It’s just an excuse to show off so that ‘fans’ scream “Slay my queen SLAAAAAY!” or in some cases to disguise the fact that they can’t hold a note.

Guessing they both must have tested positive and on radio silence! So sad for all concerned and guess won’t be back till Tuesday Well that is very unlucky, if indeed this is the reason. I didn’t know people could Stage Door again ? There were loads stage dooring after Taboo last week, and there were no notices to say people couldn't

I bit my tongue and didn't reply to the poster a couple of pages back in this thread who freely admitted to stage dooring, but if Lucie and Helen have tested positive I really hope that poster and everyone else who stage doored is thoroughly ashamed of themselves.
I really don't understand how so many people are so lacking in common sense that they could possibly think it is ok in the current circumstances?
I feel hugely sorry for the cast.

I was surprised seeing pictures of people at stagedoor and pictures of performers posing with their masks pulled down. But if they tested positive yesterday, as much as stagedooring on Tuesday evening will have been a very silly thing to do, they probably caught it before Tuesday evening and gave it to each other during rehearsals or dress run or something.

It’s not just Covid though … there are so many general sickness bugs going around at the moment that could be passed on to the cast.
Very selfish behaviour. The pictures of fans and cast members at stage door next to the signs telling them not to do it are particularly ironic 😩

So there was 200 plus people at SD on Tuesday ?! I don’t know what Security can do about it. Apart from get the Cast to leave via a different exit ?

Commute, families etc

I haven't been to Wicked stage door in a looooooooong time, but don't they usually have barriers up, so cast can choose to walk down the line or otherwise they sneak out at the top? Doesn't stop fans from running after them anyway, but that is usually what used to happen, back in the OG and second cast of Wicked days. LOL

It isn’t ‘we don’t want to do it because we want to get home’. It isn’t ‘I’m sorry we need to eat, there isn’t time’. At its darkest it is ‘I’m sorry, I want to stay alive’. It’s bad enough them picking up bugs at the stage door scrum. It can’t be wholly blamed but it can be wholly controlled.

Commute, families etc Of course they could in theory, and the theatre should be accommodating that, but they might not be. Regardless, that doesn't excuse the idiocy of anyone who tries to stage door in the current climate. Only they can control whether they go to the stage door or not, the cast can't control that. It is the so-called "fans" (whose lack of consideration for the cast frankly makes them anything but fans in my book) who are unnecessarily increasing the risk to the cast for no good reason. And if you still think turning up to stage doors is OK despite being told not to do it then I'm afraid you need to grow up and appreciate the severity of the situation and that you and the others who stage door are the problem. You need to realise this is about the health of the cast and you are putting that at risk for your own selfish desires, which is not OK.

I haven’t seen the show since November I’m not in support of people that SD during these times specifically ignoring boundaries just stating that it’s up to actresses / actors whether or not they stay for fan interaction Lucie took pictures with her fans and signed programmes with a mask on.. she didn’t have to

I have no idea if you were or weren’t. But supporting the very notion is out of order.

You could leave by the front and avoid the Stage Door altogether.

I guess I’d be another of the young fangirl generation having only just turned 18 😂. My peak Wicked phase was from like 14 to 15 I’d say but I’ve had a resurgence recently.

Amy Webb was on as Elphaba, Charli Baptie was on as Glinda and Grace Chapman was on as Nessarose (4th February, 2022).
Confirmed on Twitter by West End Understudies (great Twitter page for updates for all UK productions).
I hope that both Helen and Lucie make quick recoveries! A shame to be (likely) sick so early into their new run.
