Thought I'd also add that I LOVED Suzie Mathers as Galinda. What a great voice and so so funny. She reminded me a lot of Megan Hilty's portrayal. She was the revelation of the night for me. I completely agree, definitely one of the best Glindas I've seen!

Has Alice Fearn been on as Elphaba yet? No she hasn't With this weeks excitement I can see both Rachel and Suzie calling out of at least one show to rest!

Yes, that wouldn't surprise me. It's very nice to have an Elphaba who has been on for all but one performance for the past 3 weeks though. Emma Hatton didn't do that too often. She hardly ever did multiple weeks in a row without calling out a few times.

Hoping a Wicked fan can answer something I'm puzzling over. This may be spoilers so don't read if you don't want to know about the end of Wicked. What's going on when Elphaba pulls that curtain across, and we see the silhouette of Dorothy throwing water over her, and then she melts?
Is the idea that she has staged this somehow? Or does she actually melt, then come back to life somehow? Why all the earlier references to protecting her from water, if in fact it has no effect?

I think her being afraid of water is just another myth the Wizard and Morrible circulated about her perceived general evil ness.
"I hear she has an extra eye that always remains awake"
"I hear she can shed her skin as easily as a snake"
being other such speculation.

So what's going on behind the curtain? One minute she's kidnapped Dorothy to get her sister's shoes back (right?) and the next they've come up with some plot to make everyone think D has killed E with a bucket of water?
Am I reading into this too much?

{Spoiler - click to view} I always thought that she pretty much planned it herself with Fiyero as the scarecrow just sort of nudging things along on the Dorothy end. Then she just disappears into a trapdoor and appears later...

Yes I understand it's an urban myth that water melts her, but we actually see Dorothy throw water on her and she apparently melts (or at least that's suggested by the silhouettes). What's happening there?
Either Elphaba and Dorothy have suddenly made friends and Dorothy has agreed to help stage this elaborate scene so Elphaba can escape, or it actually happens and Elphaba actually IS allergic to water, but somehow comes back to life.

We also see swirling green smoke. Maybe it's just a plot hole.

I always presumed it was some of Elphaba's witch-y magic that helped them along too. No idea though really, that bit always flies by quite quickly!

Dorothy is not in on it. But because Fiyero heard people saying they think water can melt her, they came up with a plan to stage Elphaba's death. Because Elphaba is a witch with amazing powers, she can easily make it seem like she's really melting while she actually hides under a trap door.

Interesting that other than Defying Gravity and this ending to No Good Deed, nothing has gone up online... but damn that audience response at the end of both!

Wow! Seriously, I can't stop listening.
P.S. It's funny how all of his video descriptions say "I did not record it", when we all know that's not true. Even the cast know it.

*geeky post alert*
Rachel's riffs/notes remind me most of Eden Espinosa's elphaba. If you've not heard of her, shes got an insane voice. She ended DG in a very similar way to the way Rachel did last night.
Loved Rachel's NGD last night but missed her Fiyero riff she sometimes did in London.

I wonder if Stephen Schwartz was alarmed at how many people were messing with his melodies...

I wonder if Stephen Schwartz was alarmed at how many people were messing with his melodies... Seeing as it has pretty much been like that from the get go on Broadway, I'd assume he's OK with it.

I saw Rachel in this quite a few time in London and I am sorry but this does not sound nearly as goood as it used to. I barely understand the first half of the clip and then its just shouty.

I'm not at all surprised Rachel is off, she easily blew her voice out last night!
