Well im here in NY at the minute. Went to the Gershwin on Tuesday and tonight. Rachel was off both nights. So disappointed. I did not pre buy tickets so no financial loss. Did not see the show either. But hoping she is on before I go back. Been hearing mixed opinions about Rachel on various social media and websites so a bit apprehensive. But i have been told weekends and in particular Sundays seem to be her best performances but I will wait and see. She has said she does "pace" herself during the week though. Good to hear Peter Scolari has improved. My friends who were there a few weeks ago said he was dreadful. They also thought the current Broadway cast was weaker than the previous one with Kara Lindsay as they were ther during the changeover. Been to see She loves me, Humans play and Bright Star on the nights instead. Recommend all 3 but I loved Bright star. I think this will be a sleeper hit if they do more publicity. Carmen Cusack is great. An ex elphaba as well.

It was good seeing her go green again, but I'm looking forward to seeing new actresses have a go at playing Elphaba. Rachelle Ann Go has said she wants to play the role at some point. What do the Wicked experts think ? I could see her doing it and think she'd be excellent

I think Emma is just ill as Natalie Andreou went on for the evening and Emma has cancelled her concert appearance tonight.
Interestingly the same thing seems to be happening on Broadway as Christine Dwyer made a comeback as Elphaba on emergency cover last night!

I might be going to see this tomorrow as I can't find anything else cheaper. Anyone know who I should be expecting to see as Elphaba?

Wicked is set to return to Manila, Philippines from Feb 02, 2017... I wonder if this is part of the World Tour or a separate run?

Hearing that the International Tour is heading out to the Philipines, Manila. Assume this will be after Bradford.

Carina now has a random, last minute scheduled two show day. Could some producers be lining up a Carina and Laura lead?
I'm sure there was once an understudy who had a scheduled show (can't remember who!) as the producers were in and were consider promoting her, but she went off sick halfway through and had to be replaced!

It wouldn't surprise me if Carina was the lead for the tour - she was brilliant on the last tour!

Doing a quick Google research: Sabrina Carter had a scheduled show on the 5th October 2009 and went on despite feeling sick. Her voice cracked on the money notes in Wizard and I, and Ashleigh Gray (the standby back then) replaced her after Popular - but apparently, Ashleigh wasn't feeling too well either.

Well, it's not exactly random... savannah tweeted earlier this week that she still had a holiday left to take up and was doing that today. Considering she's moving house I'm assuming she'll be doing some painting and stuff

It's just a bit unusual for them to have like a day's leave in the middle of the contract? I think that's what happened in the last week in September before cast change?

October 2009... that was the month when Stephanie J Block was roped in as emergency standby. She was travelling through London and there was a risk all the possible LondonElphabas would be sick!

I would quite like to see Laura and Carina get the tour, although I have worries about that. Even though Laura has proved to be an amazing Elphaba, the most shows she has done in a row is four, so for her to lead she'd have to consistently do 8 shows a week! Also, Wicked is promoting within its ranks too frequently, I know it's a guarantee that you'll have an experienced performer who can handle the role, but it can be stale potentially? I saw Carina twice on tour and while the prospect of her getting lead and seeing her again is exciting, I'd sooner see a brand new Glinda. Anyone else seeing the tour in Bradford with these concerns?

Concerns about Laura's voice holding up - yes, absolutely. Too many Elphabas have had vocal issues and if the longest run she's done is 4 shows, consistently doing 8 could (but not necessarily would) be an issue. Tour cast being stale if they promote? I disagree. I've previously found the London show stale when the same actors have been in the same roles for year after year, however I never once found the tour cast to be stale over the numerous times I saw it, despite the fact that many members of the cast had been in the show before. Being a new production, playing in a different city/country every few weeks/months as well as completely different audience every night (London audiences tend to remain similar, with a large number of school groups in the week, and tourists) is what keeps the show fresh for me, and I'm 90% sure that the new tour will feel fresh as daisy when it starts, even if we do have precious/current Wicked leads.

Cast change in London will be a brand new Elphie and Glinda, a pair who have proved their worth as leading ladies. We might get a new Standby for each for fresh blood, but could promote from within for those roles.
Tour is riskier given the short time between venues and stamina will be key. We'll get an existing Elphie or at least a Standby for the full time role, the Standby would go to an U/S so I could see Laura getting bumped up to Standby!
I'm still not excluding a Tucker/Willemijn stunt cast for the 10th Anniversary......

I'm fully expecting the 10th anniversary show to be a complete non-event. I would love to be proven wrong, but I'd be honestly surprised if there was anything more than a speech and maybe a balloon drop.

I for one do hope they make the standby Elphaba an alternate, as both Nikki and Ashleigh struggled during the last weeks/months of their runs. And this tour is going to a completely different temperature zone, so I guess it might be even worse.
