Like, I'd need to take out loan upon loan if Willemijn came back. Is still the only time I instantly shot out of my seat at the end of Defying Gravity when she finished singing it. It gave me so much energy I just went a bit bananas (much to the annoyance of my friend....)
Roll on Sept 5th though!!

Fun fact, I chatted to a merch person on my visit to Wicked to see Willemijn and she said all of the staff were taught to say her name ahead of her arrival so that if any theatre-goers asked, they would use the correct pronunciation. And if they got confused, they were taught to think of the scene from Finding Nemo with the seagulls saying "mine" and using that thought to learn how to say the last part of her name.  |

"Will-a-man" would probably best approach the correct pronunciation, although in order for the pronunciation to be perfect you'd need to add a "y" sound after the a in "man". A "y" sound like in "you" and "yolo" that is. That would make it "Will-a-mayn" |

That's weird, because she has always pronounced it differently (the correct way). And she'd probably be the first person ever to pronounce her own name like that. What I think it is, is that because you don't know that sound in the English language, you can't hear the distinction between "mine" and "mijn". For people who are familiar with that sound, it makes a big difference. |

On the one hand, I'm all for casting someone new and fresh as Elphaba, but I'd be thrillified if that Willemijn rumour turned out to be true. After all, she is my all-time favourite Elphaba and she also deserves a proper send-off, as she had to end her first run in London prematurely because of her back surgery.

Yes she's my favourite too. Not that I'll be traveling to New York any time soon, but still. She was amazing in London. The last cast I was truly excited about was Willemijn, Savannah and Jeremy! Probably because they were a completely fresh trio (for London).

Get ready for stage door madness on Sept 5. I might try to get a pic with Rachel. I don't usually do that, actually the only actor I have a pic with is Nic Rouleau (I'm so in love with him lol), but I don't know, I love her so much and I feel it's my only chance. The first new cast show is never really crazy. You over estimate the hysteria of new cast or the number of people who are that bothered. The usuals will be there but there will be no road closures, riots or anything similar. |

Mmmhmm. Well in fairness, if we are defining a Superfan as going 10 times or more, I fall into that catagory. And on two occasions, I have been twice in one week to the show. But I wouldn't go to the point of doing it every week haha. I did the last three shows in Bradford, thinking that if I was travelling up from Cardiff I might as well make the most of it! I know some of the fan accounts have done all 8 shows in the same week which I just can't get my head around.... I just can't get my head around the "I don't want an autograph or a photo. I am going to the stage door before the show,between shows and after the evening show JUST TO CHAT to the cast" mentality at Wicked. "How are you doing?" "Well, not that much has changed since I saw you last night really. .." As one cast member said to me once "how on earth do they afford it? " Then there are those who do this when they have not even been to the show. Why?! Then there's those who buy CONSTANT and very expensive gifts. |

I think they think of those actors like big name celebrities and they think they're their friends. I don't understand how anyone can camp for 4 days for a ticket. Don't they have a job that pays them enough that 3 days of work can buy them a ticket?! Don't they have ANYTHING better to do than sit and wait???

I think, to be honest, it's more about people wanting to be seen to be camping out for days on end, and wanting to be on the front row, than *needing* to. In my eye, the people who camp for days on end are probably those who think they're friends with the cast, who love the attention from the cast acknowledging them on their way in to/out of work |

Wicked's cast change is one of the few times where I always prebook a ticket, and if I'm early enough I can even score the front and side seats. That said, I do wonder if they only queue up for the last two shows, or do they also see all shows between now and Saturday? Didn't the queues for Rachel's last show start even earlier? |

Rachel was my first ever Elphaba, and Louise as Glinda. They really were unlimited together! Incidentally it was also my first ever experience at a musical. She's truly a gem.
