Don't take that literally, according to that Nessa needs to be in her "20's", KRJ most def not in her 20's. Also Elphaba and Glinda in their 20's, again all Elphabas and Glinda's since Rachel Tucker joined in 2010 have been older ? You're right with regards to age, one can appear much younger/older on stage than they actually are, but interestingly I think height - for Wicked in particular - is probably a very precise matter. For example, Glinda *has* to be a certain height to fit into the bubble, therefore Elphaba's height will have to look right compared to Glinda, Fiyero taller to match his dashing good looks and arrogant personality (not saying tall people are arrogant, it just helps with the caricature of his character on stage) and Boq shorter to emphasise his "left in the background" forlorn-ness and that he interacts with someone in a chair so can't be towering above them! It's not a show I've auditioned for, but knowing friends who have & who have been/are in/are going into the show, it does seem to fit! Height features quite prominently in casting, I've found. Shows such as Les Mis where Jean Vajean and Javert need to look compatible in height, when they cast the shorter Alfie Boe as Valjean, they cast a shorter than average Javert in Hadley Fraser to balance it out! Off-topic a little, but slightly interesting none-the-less! Haha. One of the requirements for Fiyero is that he has to have 'sex appeal', which I can understand, but you have to wonder what constitutes 'sex appeal' as far as the casting bods are concerned! I know of one actor who didn't get the role because (according to the casting bods), he didn't have 'sex appeal'.

Does this happen in the UK version or is this a tweak from Broadway?! Trying to rack my brains when this scene is!! Right before Glinda "volunteers" to share her room with Elphaba

Right before Glinda "volunteers" to share her room with Elphaba Actually it's just before Dancing through life. Right after Fiyero says "maybe the driver saw green and thought it meant go", Glinda runs onto the stage and you can hear Boq calling "Miss Galindaaaaa, Miss Galindaaa". And then he says "I know I'm just a mere munchkin", and that's when he stands on a step to appear taller. Actually, Glinda stand on one of the 2 lower parts of the stage that stick out and Boq stands on the regular stage in order to appear taller.

Boq Miss Galinda! I know I’m just a mere Munchkin [stands on higher step]. But even a Munchkin has feelings! And I have tried to tell you of mine for you but sometimes it’s like you don’t even know who I am.
GALINDA That’s not true, Bick.
BOQ Boq.
Then Fiyero comes in...

No, Fiyero was already there before Glinda and Boq arrived. This is just the point where Glinda notices Fiyero

You're right, I just thought it was earlier when the rooms were allocated. See, that's what happens when you don't see Wicked that often anymore. It's time for the 30th January 2017 to come so that I can finally return to the Apollo Victoria on a regular basis.

I imagine Alice Fearn will be bumped up to lead Elphaba after Rachel leaves, and rightly so as she is very talented and it will be some new blood in the lead role.

I'm naively hoping that maybe they gave Laura Emmitt a 5 month break before taking the lead herself... but 5 months is soo long for a break..

She hasn't tweeted anything about wicked, but then again Laura doesn't tweet all that often to begin with... I really don't know if that's positive (that there no point in tweeting that she's sad to leave if she's coming back) or negative (that the departure wasn't out of choice for example). But you're right she was the best Elphaba of the 4 (in my opinion) and generally really good! I'm sure either way she has big things ahead of her!

Yes I really hope we will see Laura Emmitt back at Wicked at some point! Maybe as standby if Alice Fearn becomes lead when Rachel leaves?
And does anyone know how long Jemma Rix was lead Elphaba for? I think she is the longest running Elphaba at this point? I'm trying to work out if Rachel will take that spot after she finishes the 10th anniversary run.. She will then have done nearly 4 years (about 46,5 months)!!

Jemma Rix did 1187 days as Elphaba lead (+229 of 4 shows a week and 545 as s/b) and Willemijn Verkaik did 1592 days (all lead). By her departure on January 28, 2017, Rachel will have done 1412 days as Elphaba lead. For fair weight, we have to incorporate Jemma's time not spent as lead (counting 1 day for every 2 doing 4 shows a week and 1 day for every 4 as standby), this would give her a total of 1438 rounded to the nearest whole number (1187 + (0.5*229) + (0.25*545)). As Jemma has never performed more than 6 shows in a week, I think that would effectively eliminate the small numerical advantage she has but Dee still has a fair claim to the 2nd place spot. Although for 1244 of those days, Willemijn never performed more than 6 shows a week, I think her lead is significant enough for her to hold the title of longest running Elphaba. So in terms of Elphaba lead alone, Rachel is definitely the undisputed 2nd but even with my haphazardly devised system for incorporating standby / role share time it starts to become a bit more difficult to determine. If you use this system, I think it's fair to say that by the end of her Broadway contract, Jennifer DiNoia will be the longest running Elphaba in the world as she already has a value of 1326, accrued from 512 days as lead and 1627 as standby. If, as I'm sure most people will, you discount this system, it's Willemijn followed by Rachel. EDIT: I just realised I got totally mathematical over something trivial. Apologies, I have a tendency to do that

I was at the show tonight and whatever you think of the leading ladies I thought they were really carrying everyone tonight.
The ensemble, with a few notable exceptions, just looked so lethargic and bored. I have never felt that way about a Wicked ensemble ever before now.
Also, in an ensemble there have always been at least a few really stand out amazing talents. Hannah Toy apart I am struggling.... you look at some of the ex cast members who are currently wowing the stage at Jekkyl and Hyde with their incredible dancing and comparisons are gping to be made....
My first time seeing Mark Curry as the Wizard and I thought he was excellent so it's not all bad.

What did you think of Emma Hatton's Elphaba? She was off (I assume ill) last night, so how did she sound, how was her acting?

I don't think playing both Fiyero and Boq is actually a possibility, at least going by the Equity casting breakdown: Fiyero is 5'11'' and above while Boq is 5'7'' and below. Don't take that literally, according to that Nessa needs to be in her "20's", KRJ most def not in her 20's. Also Elphaba and Glinda in their 20's, again all Elphabas and Glinda's since Rachel Tucker joined in 2010 have been older ? For no logical reason other than they have been satisficing recently - using understudies, past and present, and overseas cast members rather than use the younger talent. Its now the only university where the entry age is 30+ , not 18. Bizarre - because if you look at what roles Rachel, Louisa and Gina had done previously, and followed that example now , you would be looking at a much bigger, and more exciting, talent pool.

So anyone know the deal for the pre-sale at 10am tomorrow? Is there an email likely to be sent out at some point so registered users can access the early sale?

Knowing Wicked the emails with the pre booking code on will probably start filtering through to inboxes after the tickets have gone on general sale.
