So it's two tickets for the whole run of the play I think they've done that with other expected-to-be-popular ones. It was like that for Mosquitoes, and Network too, I think. .

I just thought the two tickets applied only to online sales. Don't understand why the NT don't make it clear enough. Same thing when entering the ballot, people from overseas didn't know they couldn't apply because it was buried in their terms and conditions and not clearly stated.

so it turns out that if you buy a pair of daily tickets in the queue , or if you had already bought tickets on the ballot, you can't buy additional daily tickets. So it's two tickets for the whole run of the play regardless the way you bought the tickets. they really need to make this clear because people will think they can come back another day and queue if they want to see the play again. Because at the moment only says two tickets per person for the day but nothing about the whole run of the play. That was only for the ballot . There are a million ways around this. Don't worry y'all.

That said, I think it's a more than fair policy - it's such a short run, no-one should need to see this twice! An NT Live would make that easier though if anyone was particularly desperate...

Any reports of the first dayseat queue of the run? Just had a quick look on Twitter and someone has tweeted that they turned up at 7am and were 26th in the queue. People were apparently there from 3-4am. Really not convinced I'm that desperate to see Cate Blanchett, brilliant though she is as an actress generally, and also not convinced I'd enjoy the play anyway.

I have one very good and one completely rubbish experience of the Mitchell-Crimp pairing but have a bad feeling about this play that isn't dispelled by the presence of Katie Blanket.

Joined the queue at 9:30 as they were opening. Massive queue, didn’t get the tickets.
A staff member walked around explaining the ticket situation.
Theatremonkey, feel free to quote on your website: ‘30 day seats available everyday. £15 each, or £18 at weekends. 2 tickets per person. No standing tickets available. The first person in the queue arrived at 3am today. The returns queue will start everyday at 6pm, with no guarantee of course’

The first person in the queue arrived at 3am today Ludicrous that the National have created a situation where people feel they have to do this.

I suspect 5.50 arrival will quickly become borderline for getting tickets. The first person in the queue arrived at 3am today Ludicrous that the National have created a situation where people feel they have to do this. Ah, I don't know. It's not the first time and I think there's something quite nice about plays generating that sort of demand and commitment even if it's for reasons that might be viewed as shallow.

I would have to leave at 4.30am to get there for that time and lose a days work. Nice isn't the first word that comes to mind.

It states on their site people need to have the card the tickets was purchased on and ID when attending, and that goes for day tickets too.

Yeah, it says that, but I reckon it's going to be a Barbican Hamlet sitch all over again. They make a big fuss in advance of telling people they'll need to show photo ID when they get to the theatre so that people figure it's not worth trying to cheat, and then they don't bother checking IDs or at best only spot-check a small portion of 'em on the night. It's a deterrent, not necessarily a hard and fast rule.

End of the day, it's just a play. No one's going to die or suffer unduly (beyond the intentions of the creatives) if they don't get to see it. Maybe aspects of it have been mishandled (according to us, but presumably in line with the wishes of the creatives) but it's still worth keeping a sense of perspective about it, right?
Right?

The way tickets are being handle, yes it is. No one outside the UK can get tickets. I would hope Blanchett didn't knowingly agree to this.

We will soon be able to discuss the fact that it's apparently 2 hours 15 minutes without an interval instead of just discussing the ticketing policy

Be funny if it turns out to be rubbish. Will they say if it is? Some glowing reviews for Dark Matter and that's the worst professional production I've ever seen.
