If anyone is interested, I've just returned a single ticket for front of the dress circle on reopening night. Ended up with two bookings for the same night after all the reshuffles, and took me a while to notice!

I've just had an email from ATG telling me about thier updated T&Cs i.e. that I need a COVID passport.
Also it was entitled "Update on your booking for 31/07/21" which is the first I time I have heard that, that was my new date. (Which I can't do)
Anyone else had similar?

I got the e mail yesterday but it had the date but didn't say what show it was. Luckily I am booked for the date on the e mail fine but, must say, I didn't read the T&C's which I will do now.

Proof of being double vaccinated at leat 2 weeks before the show via the NHS Covid pass, or a negative lateral flow test taken and recorded on the government website (so you have the text or email to show) no more than 48 hours before the show.
Entirely sensible and I hope every other theatre operator follows suit (though no doubt ALW won't because he doesn't appear to care all that much).

The ALW who personally volunteered for the vaccine trials? I think you do him an off topic serious disservice.

Either it's badly set out in their wording, or they are saying double vaccination AND a negative lateral flow test required. There's no 'or'. This will be carnage front of house as there will be massive confusion, and disputes over the fairness and clarity of the notification of these requirements. Go into the ATG website for the phoenix theatre and you get the same requirements (lesser) as all other ATG venues. Go in via 'Come From Away' show and you get these very extensive requirements: As a condition of entry to the venue, all guests (age 18 and over) shall be required to show certification of: (i) A negative COVID-19 lateral flow test result (taken in the 48 hours prior to attending the Event) from a UK Government-approved test provider (either via a home kit or via a test centre), with certification shown via email or text; (ii) a double COVID-19 vaccination received at least 2 weeks prior to attending the Event, which guests shall be required to show evidence of via: (a) the NHS App for Ticket Holders in England or (b) via the approved certification routes for Ticket Holders from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland; (iii) proof of natural immunity based upon a positive PCR test taken within 180 days of the Event. (iv) Attendees under the age of 18 will be asked for verbal confirmation (by them or by a parent or guardian on their behalf) that they have not received a positive test for COVID-19 and are not displaying symptoms of COVID-19. What/where is the NHS Covid pass you mentioned? All I've got is my card with the date and batch of both jabs. I feel sorry for those without a smartphone. Can they not attend?

I assume they’ll send everyone an email a couple of days before the show to make sure they’re aware. I got two of the terms and conditions change ones sent last night (one for CFA, one for Pretty Woman that I’m seeing on Tuesday) and then a separate one for Pretty Woman saying I need to take action before my visit.
It would be more helpful for them to put exactly what’s needed in the body of the email though, rather than just a link. The email i had just said attendees over 18 must show proof of covid status and then a link to click on for more info. That’s fine for me as I’ve been testing twice a week all year for work but for someone who hasn’t had to do that they need to be clearer in explaining what’s needed IMO.

Good you're sorted Alison and yours isn't too maze-like. It's a show I haven't seen yet but want to. A couple of days ahead isn't long for somebody to realise they're in serious difficulty without a smartphone, and need to get 'MyGp' app to gain access to their vaccination record. Many will have a false sense of security if they've attended theatre without all this - including at ATG venues - and it'll come as a last minute panic. I'm not anti-measures at all, but I can't see Theatre surviving this tbh - either too complicated to make it worth the bother; or such a thinned out audience (who can be bothered) being chased by too many shows. This is on top of the level of risk already if you live outside London and invest in rail fares that you can't get refunded if a show cancels due to Covid tests amongst cast/crew.

There is clearly an "or" missing but it's obvious what is meant. They have to provide lateral flow tests as an alternative because not everyone has had the chance to be double jabbed yet, so they'd be opening themselves up to being sued. NHS Covid pass is as I understand it the NHS app on your phone, which is far less easy to fake than a piece of paper. If people choose to live without a smartphone in today's world that is their prerogative, but it is standard modern technology so they have to live with the consequences of not having one. The basic ones (which should be sufficient for the NHS app) are barely more expensive than non-smartphones nowadays. For those who can't for medical reasons use a smartphone then I'm sure the theatre's access team will have some workaround. Proving Covid status really isn't difficult, so anyone scaremongering that theatre won't survive this does seem to me to be vastly overreacting. I think it is more likely to be a benefit as there will be many people who will feel safer coming back to the theatre if they know there are restrictions on attendees. And it hasn't harmed Broadway yet...

Max, at no point did I suggest that because I’m ok with testing that means there’s no issue - read my post again if that’s your impression. Quite the opposite.
You realise that the theatres will only have been able to start putting these measures in place this week after the government confirmed full capacity, yes? I agree with you entirely that more than a few days notice would be better, and hopefully that will be the case moving forward once they have everything sorted. It’s only those of us who have shows booked this coming week that have such short notice - and even then there has been a lot of talk about the possibility of needing covid passes after the 19th for a while.

Hi Alison, I didn't think at all that you were saying there was no issue or complication for some audience members. I did consider not replying to you, but making a separate post, but tried to word carefully as it's good to have a conversation. So when I said I was glad it worked for you and your situation - I was being genuine! Not sure what it says about this board (or social media generally) that the first assumption is that someone is being snarky. But who could blame you, because....enough examples! Enjoy the show - and I mean that!

Is anyone able to confirm it's an either or? My reading of the e mail is that it's both nut hope that's wrong.

They just want a covid pass from the app. The things they’ve listed are the options that will give a valid covid pass. Their wording is poor - it should definitely be an “or” - if it wasn’t, they’d be saying that only people who have had covid can go.

This will be chaos. Having been to Chichester yesterday, there were lots of people who didn't seem to have a clue what was going on when they were asked to scan the Track and Trace app (and lots of details being recorded on paper). There is definitely a generational gap.
I do completely support this. It's inevitable there will be Covid-19 outbreaks linked to theatres, so every extra precaution is worthwhile. Hopefully most people will continue to wear masks too.
And thanks to everyone for deciphering what the strange email I received (complete with missing fields) was meant to mean.

Having just checked the website, it is definitely and/or. As Poster J has already said, it wouldn't be fair for it to be both - for example, I was only allowed to get my first vaccine 26th May, there's barely time for me to have my 2nd in time (and indeed, I'm booked in for 26th July for my 2nd one, but am seeing CFA on 22nd), and people much younger than me won't be eligible for their 2nd jab for another few weeks.
Curiously, I'm seeing this on 22nd but have not yet had the email others have had.

It's an artform and industry that has had challenges thrown at it for centuries whether it be war, previous pandemics like the Spanish Flu or the Great Plague or enforced closures by the Puritans but yet it's still around and will be around for centuries to come.

As someone who has had to do Lateral Flow Tests twice a week since January for my job, it's really not hard. The test itself takes 10-20 seconds, then you're waiting 30 minutes for a result. Then register it on the government website, and you'll get your Covid Pass for 48 hours - it's really straightforward. I will certainly feel safer for having these measures in place.

They have reworded and substantially added to the web page now. The word 'or' now appears, and there is explanation of what the NHSapp proof is, and how to get through to it via web or mobile, and sign up (as long as also digitally registered with your GP).
