Thought this was excellent. The discussion on whether the extent to which you remember the events as they happened is an issue in getting the show is interesting (I was in my early 30s at the time) as there's actually not much information given about what's actually happened in the show itself. But it got an amazing response from a fairly young audience (particularly unusually young for a mid-week matinee  ) Was also a refreshing change that the main romantic plot was about a middle-aged couple. I sat in row Q of the stalls - great view from there, it's a small theatre and there's a good rake with the seats offset nicely. I got this for £35 on the TodayTix theatre week deal but actually if you go mid-week those last few rows are around £40 anyway. They lose points for not having tap-water available at the bar (at least, no jugs of water - maybe they would have provided some if asked) |

I don't know if remembering the event makes any difference in how you feel about the show; I don't really remember it and CFA is by far my favorite show at the moment. Everyone around me, regardless of age, was wildly enthusiastic.
I particularly wanted to go again this week as Brandon Lee Sears was on. Also I was interested to see Kirsty Malpass (I preferred her to Rachel Tucker)

you see the plane people see the planes hit the towers for the first time, which takes you immediately back to your experience seeing that too which I think is far more visceral if you have a living memory of that day, rather than seeing it later if you're too young. |

Yes - I guess it's similar to watching something about the Kennedy assassination in the 80s. You know the details of what happened but not the impact of being aware when it happened.
Anyway - one of the strengths of CFA is that it works either way !

Oh interesting observation I've only just remembered btw! On Tuesday night, once the cast took their bows and the band played, usually the cast stay out on stage and clap along with them, but they didn't that night. Do we know the reasons why?

This reply from Rachel gives me the impression that it's more usual for them not to stay on stage (that's how I've interpreted it at least!) I've seen the show twice now - the first time they didn't stay on stage, the second time they did |

I've seen the show twice now - the first time they didn't stay on stage, the second time they did oh how interesting, twixe now ive seen it and it's been them staying on stage so it caught me off guard. |

They stayed on stage on Monday, which makes sense if they do it for debuts as it was Kirsty Malpass and Brandon Lee Sears' debuts. I was dithering over whether to go then managed to pick up a rush seat in stalls row H at lunchtime so that sealed the deal for me. Loved the show just as much as I did the first time round.

I saw this on Wednesday afternoon, I've never cried so much at a piece of musical theatre. I know it's not particularly sad in most parts and it's actually so brilliant at trying to be positive about the matter at hand but I was crying because I was just so moved. That performance will stick with me for such a long, long time. Every cast member is as great at the next. This needs to win the Olivier.

I loved this show so so so much. Full of emotion, life and joy. I was blown away. So much so that I'm about to buy tickets for my family. Before I do, are there any offers around that anyone knows of? Based on how full it was last week when I saw it I doubt it, but thought I'd check. Maybe Monkey knows?

I think they "dynamic price" particularly midweek matinee, as londontheatredirect.com advertise tickets from £9 at those - and you can pick them up via ATG as well. Todaytix also run discounts fairly regularly, it seems. I got two tickets for Row H in the grand circle for a midweek matinee in July at £10 each - definitely recommend looking midweek to get the deals |

Away from their 4 Oliviers just in case anyone is going this week Kiara Jay is on 8-12 April Kirsty malpass has said on her insta tonight that she is on all week from tomorrow. With both dont know who for as they didnt say and cover 4-5 roles. My guess is Diane and Janice but who knows.
Jenna Boyd has said she is off first week in may and 4 -10 july. Rachel has said she is off 1-6 july and 12-21 august Both stated this on social media. Alex mcmorran and mark dugdale havent gone on yet as far as I know. But alex does have an appearance date but dont know when.
Between Dublin and London I reckon they've done over 110 shows in 4 months plus 5 weeks rehearsal since November. The majority of cast members have done them all. Its no wonder holidays are starting.

I'm guessing Diane and Janice too, given that those are the roles they're first cover for based on the understudy order listed in the program (well, Kirsty is first for Beverley too, but Rachel hasn't said she's off). Hoping to pick up a rush ticket tomorrow - the lure of two new understudies plus the first show after the Oliviers is very tempting.

Mark Dugdale is on 18th - 20th April then 29th April - 11th May. Oh, good, I'm there on the 18th so I'll catch him. This show has been so IN MY HEAD since I saw the first performance in January. Looking forward to a second visit. |

The CFA website hasn’t been updated yet with “Best New Musical at the Oliviers” marketing. You’d think they’d be all over that! I hope the show gets a bit of a boost from the awards as it’d be nice to see this show hang around a while. I think it’ll do well during tourist season and will attract lots of American tourists especially. I think it’s still a sellout on broadway.

I don't think it needs a boost at the moment, when it opens its next booking period it will. It's still playing sold out or close to sold out houses and has been since it's opening because of the amazing word of mouth. That will carry it through to the Summer then the tourist crowd will carry it up until Autumn. Then it will be the time to hit up the real promotional campaign. |
