I've now had a chance to look around the auditorium, too, and the full report is now online. Anyone who has cheap seats has a BARGAIN. There is hardly a single bad seat in the place. Relax, folks, it's all good. Great job, Monkey, and pleased to see that "my" seat I 52 ranks among your green bargains! |

I agree with theatremonkey, that theatre is almost like the National Theatre. Not a single bad seat in the house even if you try.

You have NO idea how good that seat is, viserys. Oh dear?! I hope this refers only to comfortability and sightlines and I won't end up with David Fynn in my lap (not that I'd mind... ahem). |

Oh, forgot to mention. If using Holborn tube station, there are only 2 escalators working. Expect a claustrophobic queue from platform to surface until late 2017. Allow at least an extra 15 minutes for your journey. It's a hell-hole. Or at least go and see Floyd Collins first, to get yourself prepared for the tube station. |

I'm getting rather excited for my 2 preview visits (in £15 circle row E seats!) A mask and stripy shirt are appropriate, fiyero, they are now top price and worth it... you really stole them. I know! Never sat up there before but thought they looked good for the price. Will be a £75 seat a couple of weeks later!

Not between 07.30 and 10.00hrs you won't viserys, as it is "exit only" at those times. Oh, and make sure you head for the right platform, as there is no interchange underground either. Start learning the route to Tottenham Court Road, is all I'm saying... Ugh. Thanks for the heads up, theatremonkey and now tubemonkey as well. Will need to work out how to get back to St. Pancras on Sunday morning then to catch the Eurostar home. |

I normally do dayseats but I'm getting too old for this sh*t LOL
So I actually booked two tickets Row B on a Sunday performance in November (black Jesus be my savior, children children everywhere..) It actually could end up being the first row because it seems the entire first row was gone for all performances.

OK - I need some advice with this show.
I generally love ALW shows and have seen them ALL in the WE from Jesus Christ Superstar at the Palace Theatre to Stephen Ward and all of them in between. So that's a big plus, so I don't want to miss his latest show....
BUT I hate rock music and loathe kids - especially onstage. Annie/Matilda etc. set my teeth on edge - all that stage school awfulness! "Tomorrow, tomorrow I'll kill yer tomorrow....."
So do I book for this? Am I going to love it or hate it?
Shall I just go for a cheap seat, but even then it's a night of my life I'll never get back if I hate it?

I can understand the lack of a desire to see a musical involving children, although for me it usually stems more from the type of show (very family friendly and appealing to kids) that they star in. Sydney Lucas in Fun Home is one of the best performances I've seen ever - adult or child.
I haven't seen School of Rock yet but from the songs I have heard it's more rock influenced pop than straight out rock music, with obvious show tune elements. I'd probably get a cheap seat if I were you, seems a shame to leave this off your ALW list.

So..... I have booked for this in early November - a side stalls seat for £15! It's got to be a bargain right? Even if I hate it I can tick it off the list! The same seats are £25 after opening.
The prices for this are astonishing - most of the stalls are £75 - £100 (premiums) after the previews and needless to say there is LOTS of availability. I suppose the success of this will depend on the reviews. Will it become a hot ticket like Groundhog Day did after the reviews came out?

This latest diary shows the beginning of tech rehearsals including a glimpse at the set and auditorium. Didn't know they use a revolve in this! Or unless it's a change from the Broadway production.
Still unsure about the sight-lines from those cheap side seats. May have to wait to read a review before booking.

Maybe the revolve has been brought in for the uk show to change the set/scenes because as the New London is a thrust stage, it's harder for them to use the standard theatre trucks to bring on scenery from the wings?
