Alex has lost a considerable ton of weight since the show started. He's quite smaller now, you can tell just by his face. I don't think he needs to be necessary chubby or chunky, but I think they would look for someone who doesn't have conventional leading man looks, which is quite refreshing if you ask me.

Yes, 100% agreed!! Not surprised at all hearing that Alex has lost weight, considering how much physical energy he gives based on videos I've seen!

Both of Alex's understudies are in a similar mould to him too (in terms of their build), so I don't think we'll be seeing the likes of Tompsett and Lipkin. I think Nathan Amzi and maybe Daniel Buckley would be good for Dewey.

I too think Nathan Amzi would be brilliant - however he is doing Aladdin and covering Genie, if SoR were to open in the Autumn, it may be too soon for him.

Caught the show this afternoon - Both Alex and Sierra were out.
Alex's understudy Jonathan Wagner was fantastic! I honestly can't see how anyone else could play the role better.
The real stars though are the kids. Gonna be a struggle for them to find 3 sets to do it in London

I actually REALLY hope they bring over Brightman. I've not seen the show but he is on fire on the cast album, with a hugely powerful voice, and from what I've seen in the clips on youtube, gives a very charismatic performance too.
Incidentally he retweeted a fan's tweet about wanting him to come to London to open the show, which doesn't mean anything at all really, except perhaps that he agrees with the statement and would like to do it.
I do hope we get this a bit sooner than planned though. I'm sure it'd be a hit with families especially, and we could do with an exiting new show with longevity on the West End.

I know someone who worked with Alex Brightman on Wicked and he said that he thinks Alex put on weight for the show as apparently he was quite skinny when he was doing Wicked.

That would be my dream job, being asked to put on weight.
Seriously though, would love to see Brightman come over as he sounds fantastic on the cast recording.
Maybe winning the Olivier here would make up for being robbed of a deserved Tony this year by the Hamilton juggernaut. (Before I get stick for that - yes, I think Miranda or Odom Jr deserve the Tony too, but I feel a bit sorry for all the shows this year that are up against the hype of the century)

In an interview he mentioned having put on loads of weight, but it being impossible to keep on due to the physically demanding nature of the show. (Also I believe there's something like an 8 year difference between those two pictures )

Well...I guess I was wrong about this waiting until March! And the Palladium will now just be doomed for TV stuff and variety (although I still stick by the idea of SpongeBob going there)!

Just having a look at the old "view from your seat" thing on the War Horse site, which isn't technically supposed to be there anymore as it is closed. While the New London looks like a great theatre with a big(ish) stage, it looks like the view must be pretty naff if you're sitting on the sides and it is NOT a thrust stage show. I can see the stage stuck out a little bit for War Horse so it probably would have been fine for that, but I wonder if School of Rock would be properly behind the arch? I don't know if it is on Broadway, but maybe they should'nt put the band in a pit in front so the audience are closer to the stage! www.warhorseonstage.com/tickets/#
