Coliseum security probably confiscated it at the door then, as it contained water and had been opened. It was later found to be full of voddy which justified the confiscation but put rather a dampener in the party atmosphere on stage that evening. |

I saw this Thursday night and enjoyed it, but didn't love it. Second act was stronger storywise but the first act probably has the better known songs (excepting the megamix at the very end). There were some occasional dodgy vocals going on to my untrained ear from some of the cast. Madalena Alberto was pure class, shame she's not in it a bit more. Special mention for the shorts early in act one!

I saw this in New York, where I couldn’t care for it and saw it again last night.
The dancing is terrific, so was the leads, especially the two Glorias. However this jukebox musical isn’t as fun as Mamma Mia or as dramatic as The Jersey Boys or Tina: The Musical, so therefore absence of dramatics so is not theatrical. If you are a fan of Gloria Estefan (i’m not) and have the urge to submerge yourself in her hits then go, if you are going to see theatre, this is not it.
Better than New York, hence why I will give this 2 Stars.

I was there last night thanks to a great offer of 2nd row dress circle seat. From what I could see stalls pretty full apart from some empty side seats, dress was 3/4 or slightly more full, couldn't really see upper or balcony much but there were definitely people sitting at the front of the balcony.
I am not a jukebox musical fan and have only seen 1 before (Beautiful) that I can think of, but I do like a bit of Miami Sound Machine as it reminds me of very happy times in the 80s working as a holiday rep.
Have to say I rather enjoyed it. I preferred the 1st half to the 2nd but that's only because of the more well known songs in the 1st half.
Im not sure which Gloria we had last time but she had a great voice and played the part well. But for me it was the ensemble and the band that made the whole thing worth it for me. Great dancing and I could listen all night just to the band.
The megamix sent us all home happy and there was quite a bit of dancing going on by the audience especially people who were around at the time!
Liked the fact that there were quite a lot of latinos in the cast.
Bit shocked at a tenner for the programme, but it was actually quite good with nice pictures and a lot of reading material too.
Really glad I went but glad I got an offer as I would not have paid the £95 price of my ticket.

I was also there. I should announce myself next time. I was probably the cause of an empty seat as I failed to find a plus one.
I have mixed feelings about this. I enjoyed it, I would probably see it again but there just isn't a story high stakes enough around the peak Estefan tunes. I couldn't help but compare it to Tina and the portrayal of Emilio as this shadowy figure behind Miami Sound Machine, behind Gloria and as Gloria implies the man behind her bus accident was odd. He isn't a bad man so why was he presented as this sinister figure (he even seems to come out of the bus accident unscathed) at the end where Coming out of the Darkness is sung; it seems to be more about Emilio than anyone else.
Gloria has had her ups and downs but the truth is she doesn't have the career and reputation beyond people of a certain again. I am 31 and I just don't have that connection with her or her music but this musical is really well done, looking at the Cuban diasphora, the music, the hostility to the Latin community and ultimately Gloria and Emilio have a lovely relationship. Even the troubles with Big Gloria don't dent that. It just needs a bit more conflict to be a true great but it is frothy and fun enough for UK audiences

I'd call it more of a water trough than a fountain and there wasnt any water coming out of it. Certainly the same one as mentioned in the photos above. |

Depends how cheap you are looking for Sam . There's day seats at the theatre. Premium seats about half price, balcony from £15 to £20. theatreticketsdirect.co.uk, londontheatredirect.com and seetickets all have various deals at the moments, but the prices vary wildly depending on date chosen. If there are children involved, kidsweek also has an allocation. Thanks Monkey. No set budget but just looking for a good deal on a nice seat. My parents were going to Jess Glynne at Kew (on the 10th July), but since she's cancelled and they have a hotel booked we're looking for alternatives. I know they'd balk at paying £70-£90 for a ticket, so I'm looking up to £50ish. More concerned with value than cheapness I guess. Not sure what time day seats are generally selling out (if at all). I wouldn't be able to get to the theatre until 6pm. I'm putting together a list of shows for them to choose from. |

Saw this last night and really enjoyed it. the book of the show is pretty weak but performed brilliantly. We had only booked cheap upper circle tickets for £22 and asked to upgrade and because we had booked direct with the Coliseum we were upgraded to day seats for an extra £7.70 each and basically could choose and got front row central tickets worth £ 126. Great service from the box office.

Have picked up two cheapo deal tickets for my wife and daughter on their London trip soon.Agree that it is struggling with sales big time.Not sure how well it will fare on the road either to be honest.

Watching tonight and hoping they close the balcony and upgrade as there are a ton of seats available all over. Let's see how it goes! Since Sunset Boulevard, I have only booked Balcony in protest to the prices and have been upgraded three out of five times!  |

Very glad I saw this at the Curve in Leicester before it came to London. Close to stage unlike the front row at the Coliseum and only £45. Sell out when I went and a great atmosphere.
I agree the London Coliseum is the wrong venue for this show and IMHO for musicals generally. Not helped by the high initial ticket prices and the "no food drink even water allowed" rules even if not strictly enforced. I predict that even Hairspray will struggle to fill every night here and will be discounted during its run.
On Your Feet is a decent enough musical and judging from The Curve will do okay on tour. Should have toured first then maybe gone into the West End at a smaller venue.
