Saw this last week at the midweek matinee (had had to swap my priority booking Saturday night prime ticket as I ended up working!). Audience an odd mix of OAPs, large school groups of teenage lads (no idea why school thought they'd be interested in this) and families with younger kids (shouldn't they have been at school?) Anyway, never heard so much rustling of food but at least there wasn't too much talking.
Fabulous show, pretty much identical to the tour.
Charlie Stemp truly is a star and that rare beast of a genuine triple threat. I'd be interested to know if his acting extends beyond cheeky chappy into more serious roles as if it does, he truly has it all.
We had 1st understudy Mary who was excellent. And didn't mind at all having already seen Zizzi twice on tour.
Richard Eyre is still credited as director though am fairly sure he's never had much to do with this version.....

[the kids were great although I would've preferred the kids to be written as less bratty and more like they were in the film but that might just be me. [/quote]
Why would they need a hard nosed yet warm and fun loving magical nanny if the kids weren’t bratty? It’d only last five minutes 😂

Was this always meant to be a limited run or is there a chance Disney will extend this into 2021?

Managed to get C26/27 in the stalls for next Weds - thanks Lottery!
Haven't seen the show since Southampton on the tour so I'm looking forward to seeing it again. It's the only show that's ever made me cry truth be told. It's that Feed the Bloody Birds....

The Mary Poppins lottery seems easier to win than most and offers really good seats for just £25.

Hi everyone, We are going to see Mary Poppins tonight. Someone in our group is a bit sensitive to loud bangs and pyrotechnics. Please could anyone let us know roughly when these occur in the show so she knows when to expect them. Thank you.

They probably have to answer questions like this quite often.

Cheeky question, but I forgot to enter the lotto and could really do with some tickets for next week.
Did anyone enter but not need their link (assuming everyone is still winning!!)

It had always annoyed me that the side seats at the Prince Edward didn't appear on SeatPlan, so glad I now know a way to roughly check the view

I have a vague memory of seeing the original West End production of this show and being underwhelmed by everything bar the dance around the proscenium.
Having seen it again this afternoon, I remain underwhelmed - though the I did enjoy the new songs far more this time around, and the performances are strong - particularly Charlie Stemp, who is always wonderful.
The problem is the book - and in particular the way it mashes up elements of the film with new story in a way that just doesn’t make coherent sense. There’s no dramatic reason for the Bird Lady and Feed The Birds in this version of the story, they are included merely because they were in the film. Let’s Go Fly A Kite similarly is robbed of its dramatic and emotional significance.
The children’s brattiness is really annoying, and changing Winnifred from a Suffragette to an ex-actress does her a disservice, as well as making no sense at all. The point is that the Banks family are thoroughly respectable pillars of middle class society who need shaking up to appreciate what is really important in their lives - it just doesn’t ring true if they are social climbers, as they appear to be in this version.
Still, the kids in the audience seems to enjoy it - except possibly the one kid who went ‘eeeuuurgh’ when Bert gave Mary a kiss on the cheek! 😂

Apologies if this has been mentioned before but they are now pushing the idea of a family night out on Wednesday evenings with an earlier 7pm start as it’s a school night...The e-mail I got also mentions £10 off on Wednesday nights whatever that means?

I got a ticket for this for Xmas. Wednesday Feb 19th. Says start time 7pm so if its an early time, it's one that has been on for a bit. Can't wait to see my boy Charlie in this.

Saw this last night and what a great night it was. All main cast on apart from Joseph Millson. What a great version, well staged and performed with a real feel good factor. Met Zizi, Charlie and Petula afterwards. They were all lovely. What a legend Petula is. She seemed to be loving it. When chatting to her afterwards she is so modest about herself, no diva here. A first class night at the theatre.

Saw the matinee today - it was absolutely lovely. I think I saw the soundtrack on the merch stand. I didn’t think about buying it because I don’t have a CD player. Looking for it online and can’t seem to find it. Any idea if it’s going to be released on apple music/Spotify etc?

I didn't think the 2019 one had been released yet - digitally or physically. Are they selling it in the theatre already? The last time they mentioned it on social media was in January, telling people they could sign up for news about it online: www.marypoppinsonstage.co.uk/album

I signed up for news about it a few months back. I think I’m just impatient!
