This promo is brilliant! Posted on the WOS YouTube channel a drone footage highlights tour of the theatre and show. It would seem all those stories people say about how cramped back stage areas and the limited spaces are true.but fascinating to see the behind the show set up. The main wonderful moments are the flybys of the cast in full force from warm up routine to mega mix and the show between . Spoiler alert it does pretty much give the plot away if for some reason you have not seen the show yet this will make you want to or for most of us revisit on our next west end trip. Just celebrating its 24 years in the west end and proving to be as inventive and joyful as it was back in 1999. I loved this too, very clever and also interesting. Also made me want to see the show for about the tenth time lol

Does anyone happen to know if Mazz Murray is on today? (Sunday 18th) I don't have any official schedule knowledge, but my recollection is that the alternate usually does the Sunday matinee.

Got a great Rush ticket for the matinee today.
I didn't love it like i thought I would (saw it 15yr ago) but Mazz Murray as Donna is just wonderful. Acted and sang miles better than everyone else.

Just makes you love Meryl even more.
Fascinating to read about the people they saw for the roles too.

No longer doing Rush tickets, which is a shame. Must be selling well!

Oh what a shame, obviously good if it’s selling well but I liked they did rush, iI suspect it’s off rush now as they are expecting an uptick in bookings once the reality tv contest to find new ‘Sophie’ & ‘Sky’ starts on ITV (I suspect next month the programme starts)

Can anyone who is familiar with this show tell me if there have been many major changes to it over the years - changes to songs, script, design etc? Thanks

From memory the set has been scaled back a bit with less automation I think
I think Sophies wedding dress has changed with the times too

The set isn´t automated anymore. And it´s smaller. Band size is the exact same. I think cast size is the same too. The lighting design changed completely (and much for the better I think) with the newer set. And direction-wise and casting-wise, it has definitely changed. And I don´t think for the better.

The Dynamos Super Trouper costumes are in color, but the original cast had them in black and silver. Thiose have been changed from the second year though.

From memory the show was originally conceived to be a more serious show which might be why there was no megamix. It was during previews that they realised they needed to embrace the camp and tongue in cheek aspect more.

When I saw it recently the moon does come down at the end but I don't remember a pier. The cast/stage managers in hats moved the two pieces of set around. It all looked extremely cheap...

The set isn´t automated anymore. Does this mean the "pier" no longer rises up from the floor - with the moon "drop" - at the end? There´s still the moon drop, but indeed, the pier no longer rises up.

A discount of up to £50 at some Mamma Mia matinees for us silver surfers.
The Novello currently has a promotion "Seniors In Advance" for the 3pm Thursday matinee outside of school holidays. £37.75 for seats priced at £62.75 and £87.75.
It isn't mentioned on the home page and I only found out when I clicked on a seat.

How was last night? Anybody there for Stevie and Tobias’ first performance?
Any special guest appearances from the judges?

Unbelieveable but I went to an early preview the megamix wasn't in the finale which meant Waterloo was never sung in the show.A boat bought on during the show was named Waterloo. It also meant the male leads didn't wear the Abba catsuits and the female leads only wore them for Super Trooper in the main show. Don't know when the megamix was finally added. Yes I remember that too I was at one of the middle previews and were sat in front on benny and bjorn …. My friend who knew one of the theatre managers at the time asked how it had been going and he said they weren’t happy with the ending and were a bit upset so we’re trying something new tonight Originally I recall the moon then the boardwalk rising from the floor as they walk along into the distance. …. I remember wishing the ABBA would appear in the moon lol sadly it didn’t. But stage lights faded out then end Then after bows. A pause then The big lighting rigs came down and the party began everyone was up dancing and singing Benny and Byorn had huge grins on there faces Afterwards the theatre staff told us audience reactions up until that day had been quite lack lustre it was the first time it got such a great reaction
