Just out from seeing it in Manchester tonight and thought it was fabulous. I'd only seen the film once, many years ago and hadn't listened to the soundtrack before but I loved it all. Was really surprised at the demographic of the audience (mainly older ladies on coach trips) but they were all very enthusiastic particularly the little old lady behind me who couldn't get enough of it and was already planning on seeing in Liverpool next year.

Enjoyed it tonight. It really is a fab show isn’t it? I do feel grateful and a bit spoilt from seeing Killian and Matt in the WE though. Callum plays it very differently, much bigger, less subtle and just not as believable as Matt. The pathos if the care home scenewas a bit lost and he lacked the oomph needed which was needed especially for Not My Fathers Son. But as I said it’s a fab show and not fair to nitpick when you’ve seen that level of talent, energy and commitmentrim absolutely everyone on stage.

Went to the matinee in Manchester today with my wife, first time of seeing this one so can’t compare performances, but overall we both loved it, a great fun show. Really pleased to have seen this at last.

Very odd occurance, just had my booking at Stoke cancelled. Only Friday performances seem to be affected in the second week. There's performances due to happen on the saturday that are still bookable so they're not cutting the run short or anything.

Disappointed they've cut the boys out of the tour. I think some of the emotion would be lost. Sort of puts me off seeing it when it reaches here.

Saw it a few weeks back The beginning is naff with Charlie wearing a baseball jacket. Then when goes behind shoe rack just changed jacket to represent adult Charlie .... and no Lola in his moms shoes or dads stupid boy line ..... so the end bit in the home doesn’t connect .... and the end has no emotion either such a shame

Just home from the Edinburgh opening night. I absolutely adore this show. At the interval I booked myself a ticket for Saturday’s show.
Kayi Ushe was on as Lola because Callum was sick. Absolutely adored him in this role and his voice reminded me of Matt Henry.
Apart from that it was basically the full cast with a couple of swings dotted around.
Very much enjoyed Joel as Charlie. Strong belty voice, and I gotta say he makes pretty good eye candy (TAXI!). Paula was okay as Lauren. Her acting was great, but her singing was a bit nasally and she was cutting a few of the big belty notes short. Don (I think his name was Demitri?) and George (Adam?) were fabulous
Some annoying audience members, for example, arriving during Step One. So stupid. The show should have one latecomers call and anyone who misses it can just wait til the interval. So distracting both for the audience and the performers. Apart from that there was a great atmosphere and the nearly 3,500 seat venue seemed packed which is lovely to see.

The tour cast board has finally arrived. About time! So many covers and swings have been on recently, and the only thing was a singular sheet of A4 saying “at tonight’s performance the role of Lola will be played by Kayi Ushe”. Tiny, in the corner. Blink and miss it.

I’m glad to see they got a cast board at long last. I’d have preferred for it to list each role but at least everyone’s names are on it and the swings will have a chance of getting the recognition they deserve.

2nd cover Charlie debut today (Daniel Conway) and he was brilliant. Hit all the money notes and spot on with his characterisation. Played Charlie as a confused teenager who had no idea what to do which suited the character really well, and he looked very young which is what the script refers to him as being. Understudy was on for Nicola (Charlie Allen) and I preferred her to the lead who I'd seen on Monday. You can't really do much with the role, but she irritated me more which is what you want Nicola to do. She's the bitchy whiney girlfriend who you don't want to win. She contrasted well with Paula's Lauren who is absolutely pants.
Callum was also brilliant. His last show tonight but I couldn't make it due to time and travel constraints. Matinee was just as good with a brilliant atmosphere.
I was meant to be in Row MM at the back of the stalls, but before the house opened, I checked ATG and there were loads of Band A seats that weren't premium left, so I moved to Row X which was a great view; really central, not too close, not too far. Just right. I know it's dishonest, but if there are better seats available in the theatre with no sign of being filled, you may as well go for them.

Just a heads up for anybody in the Midlands or willing to travel, the Birmingham Hippodrome are doing £16 tickets for price bands C-D on Mondays and Tuesdays while it runs. I’m booked for Row U stalls on the 11th March with a saving of £20. Obviously not the best seat in the world but for the price I can hardly complain!

Edinburgh has been brilliant for covers so far. Charlie Allen debuted as Nicola, Kayi trimupantly took the role of Lola full time, Daniel debuted as Charlie and Toyan debuted as Lola.

Ooh thanks for that shady23 - I was considering going on the 2nd, but I think it may work out better for me to head to Sunderland in June as I’ll have more money then.

Has anyone seen any offers for this in Edinburgh from 3rd Jan onwards? A very last minute family visit means I may be able to catch it!

Not a special offer per say, but the Band D tickets (Circle or Balcony) at all performances are only £19.50, and since this isn’t really a sellout at the Playhouse sadly, you can easily move to a better seat.

Try the code BOXINGDAY on the ATG site for 35% off Premium to Band C seats. It doesn’t seem to apply to the last two shows on Saturday, but it works for 2nd, 3rd and 4th January. It was in an email I had from ATG.
