So I was there at the dress rehearsal and 1st preview. So Joel plays young charlie and young Lola’s scenes are replaced By nicola. I’m back on press night. Set wise is again similar to London Slightly smaller and the factory walls have been replaced by a drape. This still works perfectly. I am hoping the travelators are now sorted as they caused show stops in both the dress rehearsal and the first preview. I think this tour will do well, it is slightly different from London but hey ho. The cast are incredible so get tickets

So disappointed there’s no kids in the parts obviously cost cutting they had them on the USA 🇺🇸 tour 😟
They are doing offers in Wolverhampton and it’s only a mid size theatre top price tickets now £25 and £20 Was unsure why as looks pretty well sold ?

Where is this offer as I can't find anything anywhere but Wolves is probably the closest venue to me so would be great if I could get a few visits in there!

With regards to the opening song Joel is playing a younger Charlie to begjn with and the young Lola section has been completely removed (rather than replaced with anything). Nicola sings the final line “don’t you go anywhere as you belong with me” along with the lines she would usually sing.

Does he even talk? Or literally just appear at end of hold me in your heart?

He appears at the end of 'Hold Me in Your Heart' and also during the finale but has no spoken lines.
With regards to the finale it's the usual placing after the line "we're the same Charlie boy, you and me" except it's Charlie and Lola who fill the roles rather than their younger selves and you just have to guess/figure out for yourself that Simon Sr is Lola's father.

Had the pleasure of watching this three times this week (volunteer life is fabulous). Joel and Callum are both utterly fantastic in this, Joel belts like a good'un and Callum is fierce and fabulous. Such a feelgood show and the audiences have loved it. Another week left before it moves on and I've got one more shift of seeing the boys smash it 😀

It doesn't come to my work until May. How are the Angels ?

The Angels were fine - maybe not as wowing as I found them originally in London but in no way disappointing. The trouble is they're always on stage as the same time as Lola so I was always just transfixed by her!!

Caught the show in Northampton yesterday afternoon. Was a bit sceptical about the atmosphere at a 5pm show but it was great. The 'Northampton' jokes got a rapturous reception!
I saw Callum as Lola in London and he became my favourite, was gutted when he left for Australia. He was the main reason I saw this tour and my god his performance has got even better! He's so sassy and sexy but also had me crying in Not My Father's Son. That's never happened to me before. Such a shame he's only doing the first five venues.
The rest of the cast are incredibly strong too. I recently saw the show in London and it felt a bit messy but no such problems with the tour. Angels were great, costumes and choreography were spot on! Also Joel played a much younger, more believable Charlie than some others I've seen. Whole ensemble were great.
Having the show without the kids wasn't a problem, didn't feel like anything was missing. The end with the Dads was still a touching moment.
Gutted I can't get back to Northampton next week as I'd love to see this cast again.

Is anyone here able to post the full understudy list for the cast ? Lola - Jacob McIntosh, Toyan Thomas-Browne Charlie - Joshua St. Clair, Daniel Conway Lauren - Charlie Allen, Portia Harry Don - Alfie Parker, Shaun Dalton Nicola - Charlie Allen, Nicola Avino George - Shaun Dalton, Alfie Parker. I have no idea in regards to which swing covers what role but those are the covers listed in the programme.

Joshua St. Clair making his debut as Charlie tonight. Sat next to him at Wicked, such a lovely guy to chat too, thrilled for him to play the lead tonight.

Kayi Ushe making his Lola debut also, I didn't realise that he was with the tour at the moment as a standby, I was under the impression he started in December! I envy anyone at the show tonight.

5 min down time before everybody say yeh Understudy on for Lola ..... good in lower register higher notes very quiet Took time to get going but audience seem to like it now Not a fan of the opening without young Lola and Charlie 😟 really noticeable Just on interval and someone just fell down circle steps and landed in a heap waiting for first aid ⛑😟 It’s all happening !

Well I enjoyed it because I love the show .... maybe once settled and later in the run it will get better ... if I was scoring probably 7/10 I did warm to Lola he acted the part well and some great comedy reminded me of Matt Henry but didn’t have the vocals to match he wasn’t bad but just didn’t have the power for the money notes ..... gutted as went to see Callum as heard he was amazing Loved the guy playing don , Charlie hit the money notes and was great in the finale great comic timing Liked niki evens ... the angels were all great as per it just didn’t seem to have the usual energy I’m used to seeing in London
It may have been the lack of emotional connection not having young Lola and Charlie in the opening all the people I went with who have seen it before agreed iit was noticeable..... and esp the finale when they meet there dads it all got a bit lost ....I’m usually in floodsby that point 😭 but nothing tonight As I say I love kinky boots❤️ seen it multiple times here and in the USA .... this production at the moment I feel seems like the poor cousin ... fingers crossed 🤞 it will settle and find its way it deserves more

I had always wondered why he had only decided to do the first two months, now it all makes sense! Congrats to Callum

I always wondered why Matt never made it over there. He had a child not long after leaving so maybe it's because of that. He would have been amazing on Broadway, I'm almost certain he would have been asked.

The tour cast (led by Joshua St Clair and Kayi Ushe) performed at the Edinburgh Christmas lights switch-on event today. Then they did a publicity event in House of Fraser/Jenners and it was insane. I had no idea what was happening. I was waiting for the lift, then when the doors opened everyone from the tour was crammed in there! Then Kayi and the Angels posed for photos outside the store which was such a fun experience - great publicity for both Kinky Boots and House of Fraser.
