Tickets are really shifting aren't they? I was unable to get in on the priority link until this evening for some reason and couldn't get exactly what I wanted, though did manage pretty close. Gary Wilmot could do the London theatres this year maybe? And crisps instead of chocolate? DVDs instead of chocolates is something that Qdos do...can't think if Gary has done it yet or not, but it wouldn't surprise me if that was in this time.

Theatremonkey, are the £39.50 seats good? I got row D high numbers at the end. Thought it was mad how one seat next to it was £40 more!! Is it still a good view or will I regret it and miss out on the atmosphere and feel you need for a panto?

^It's OK, stagey , provided you don't expect too much. A false proscenium does mean you will lose the nearside around a fifth of the stage towards the back, but since everything happens front and centre except the big dance routines, I think you will be quite pleased. You've not done at all badly, that's for sure, and the one thing you really will get is the atmosphere (and, on the end, unlimited legroom). I'd go for those over the upper circle any day. Thanks for that, I am sitting in the high numbers. I just didn’t get how one seat was £30 more expensive! It’s either a terrible seat or a good offer haha. Will you still be able to see most of the main scenes then? Don’t mind missing dance routines etc but as long as you can see the actors and all the jokes etc, that’s the main thing? Yes I hope the atmosphere is still there as you need that for a panto, was worried about missing faces, not seeing actors etc. I’ve sat at the end of rows for other shows just never at the Palladium. Was going to get the £77 ones but then next to it was £40 so thought might as well save 30 quid! It worries me how cheaper it is tho the view must be bad haha?

Yes, they play mostly on the front and centre of the stage, so you won't miss that stuff, and you'll see faces for sure. It really is the fact the false proscenium gets in the way and leaning won't help. sorry to sound stupid but what is a false proscenium?

It really is the fact the false proscenium gets in the way and leaning won't help. sorry to sound stupid but what is a false proscenium? It's not stupid at all. It's basically a temporary frame to the stage covering the permanent one. They can often be smaller hence the talk here of some potential sightline issues which don't normally exist. Here you can sort of see what it was like for Dick Whittington last season:
False prosceniums are usually themed to the production and are often used for pantomies and touring theatre productions (usually musicals).

^As above. Was relieved when I saw it. At Cinderella they themed it with a castle. Was mildly concerned how they would theme it to a title like "Dick Whittington." Luckily, they went with bells... What will it be for Snow White? Castles again?

I’m very excited to see what effects they have. How on earth can they beat last year? Haha.... just brilliant!

I've booked for closing night! Not quite as far ahead as I booked Hamilton but I never thought I'd do that for a Panto, I loved Dick so much I took the jump ;-)

Where is the best 'bang for your buck' with the £39.50 seats?
I'm tempted by H2 but I wonder if I'm better going for row W and sacrificing proximity for a central view?
Any views gratefully received.
Thanks!

Have tickets for the Palladium panto been available at the Tkts booth on the day of performance the last couple of years or does it tend to sell out ?

Has it been announced yet that Charlie Stemp is in this? Can’t seem to post a picture but Mark Shenton’s twitter says that he’ll be back in panto this Christmas at the Palladium?

I was wondering when the other 2 leads are going to be announced as there is no Snow White yet either!

That's good news indeed. I was thinking that we might lose Charley to Broadway especially as he said in a recent interview with EP that he was looking into getting a green card.

Last Christmas it was busy but not completely sold out. Obviously busiest around Christmas Eve time. We are seeing it this Christmas Eve and have paid around £55 per ticket rear stalls. This might be too much for some people for a panto but this is a VERY good panto!

Any news on the casting of Snow White? I assume it's not a name, the principal girl isn't normally.

So the whole cast of Dick Whittington then. If you had recorded it you will hear the exact same routines. Definitely not worth the high prices the Palladium is charging.

If you had recorded it you will hear the exact same routines That's part of panto, though, the familiar routines and seeing how different casts / directors approach them. I think carmella1 point is that it is the same routine by the same cast rather than the same routine by a different cast. There is no new "approach" as it is the same team/cast each year.

Add to that Dawn French this year who will surely bring a lot of new material and excitement!

At the Palladium? Was totally different both years when I saw it? Apart from Zerdin who has never had new material? Cinderella and Dick Whittington had slightly different casts. I think the point being made was...... with Charlie Stemp, Nigel Havers, Paul Zerdin, Julian Clarey and Gary Wilmot all returning, Snow White will be fairly similar routine wise to Dick Whittington. Which is not a bad thing but for regular palladium panto goers it will be material we have already seen.
