They seem to have changed their business model quite dramatically since they launched in London. Ticket prices don't seem quite as attractive as they used to - occassionally, there are good offers you can't match elsewhere, and the lotteries and rush deals are good, but I see it less as a discounted ticket app and a lot more as just another booking service now. They also used to have a policy of never selling restricted view seats, which meant you could book with confidence, but they seem to have abandoned that too. A shame about the referral scheme ending, again they have lost an attractive USP there. I wonder if someone else has taken over the London 'division', a lot of changes have been brought in?

I had a look to see if I could find the T&Cs of the referral scheme on TodayTix earlier but all to do with it has disappeared so there is no way of directly verifying whether the T&Cs did actually change and what specifically changed. We need to rely on them validating their statement that the T&Cs changed with evidence now.

Is anyone trying to get The Stage to look into this? It is the sort of news story that they should be covering.
TodayTix might respond differently if confronted by some national bad publicity

How remarkably convenient. I tried searching the Internet Archive to see if their terms had been saved anywhere, but the page isn't archived. Other pages have been.

You can change things going forward but when you do bookings the contract exists that moment you do the booking and that is what you sign up to. You can't change the contract afterwards and backdate it.

I wouldn't even know who to complain to about this - the Advertising Standards Agency needs proof of the offending ad, T&Cs etc which I no longer have. I have no idea what ad I saw that promoted the referral scheme - it was probably a referral on this forum! Once again it seems like a big company is able to do whatever it likes with little recourse.

The app on my phone still has the "refer and save" tab and says "when a friend or family member enter your code at check out they'll get £10 off their order and you'll get £10 once they've seen their show".
When you click the "how it works" button it comes up with an error message but I've never clicked that button before anyway, I've gone off that initial message. Very misleading if the scheme no longer exists!

That's weird. Did it not force you to update the app recently? It did to me, which makes me wonder if it included elimination of all the referrals and references to them. But I'm US-based (not that the app itself is different, AFAIK?).

I have the same on my app- I have a £10 credit which I’ve applied to a ticket that I’ve booked for the 26th April.
Ironically, I used the credit about an hour before the email arrived...

I've not even had an auto-acknowledgement to my email, let alone a reply. What is this means of "messaging" Todaytix to which some others have referred, please? I'd like to chivvy them a little but don't want to tweet them if that's what's meant, as I try to use open forums as a last resort and I'm not there yet.

Here are the UK terms - www.todaytix.com/terms/uk which interestingly say they were last changed on 16 September 2015. so their response that the terms have changed since they tweeted it’s ok to share codes here would not seem to be correct On the other hand the section on referrals etc says

They don't appear to have their story straight - which is something that Trading Standards would hate. All companies have to demonstrate they took every reasonable effort to ensure that their pricing and policies are communicated properly - otherwise they are breaking the law. The paper trail (or lack thereof) is very telling

I think at the very least they've shot themselves in the foot by alienating their loyal customer base - shocking PR. I also wonder why the referral scheme is apparently still running in other cities/countries?

I think the part Xanderl quoted rather puts paid to anyone complaining. They reserve the right to do what they like with the credit users think they have amassed. That was their rule, so that's what they did. You could perhaps argue "unfair terms" law if you wanted, but I'd say they did in fact cover themselves pretty well - particularly if there was a "tick box" to say you agreed to the terms when you signed up. Yes, that's my interpretation. Unfair I think but there you go. Also interesting to note their strict "no refunds or exchanges" policy - so they can change their minds at any point about your credit, but you can't change your mind at any point about a purchase. (heads off to check the Ts and Cs of my hotel loyalty points and airmails)

The legality of it isn’t in question. I have no doubt they’re well covered by the t&c’s. This is about how they have treated the very customers who have generated sales for them.
If it’s true that they have trawled the old thread looking for people sharing codes, and then cancelled their credit without notifying anyone, or telling us us here that the thread contravened their rules, then that is sneaky, underhand, petty, small and very crappy.
I given my review of their app and you can guess how many stars it got.

It will be interesting to see how their UK business fares in future and whether they will relent. But presumably they either thought they could afford any hit or that it would be negligible or non-existent.

(heads off to check the Ts and Cs of my hotel loyalty points and airmails) My friend actually managed to get a ticket exchange from them last month - it was when we had all that snow and my friend couldn't get down to London and they were really good and let her exchange the tickets for the following week. She said the person who dealt with it was really friendly and helpful. Yet I had a bit of bother with them last year, I think I had opened a new account to get £10 off (we have all done it right?!) and I got a really rude horrible email from them and they shut my accounts and took the discount from me. I don't think I have used them since.

Congratulations on your 100th posting galinda . Thank you! Has todaytix booking fee recently gone up from £3 to £5 or has it been £5 for ages now? Just checked through a selection of shows and booking fees now range from £3 up to £8. Mostly at the higher end of course! Definitely seems like a change of direction for this company and rapidly losing goodwill.

Definitely seems like a change of direction for this company and rapidly losing goodwill. It's worse than that - I just looked at a few shows and they seem to be adding 10% booking fee to full-price tickets. So for "premium" seats they are charging upwards of £10 per ticket booking fee. Have a look at Bat Out of Hell, for instance. So for non-offer tickets you would be paying well over the odds compared to booking direct. Same kind of rip-off fees you get for non-offer tickets at LoveTheatre etc. Looks to me that they think they have a captive audience due to the convenience of the app and are now taking advantage. Glad I was forced to use my remaining credit last week!

Regarding the loss of referral credits, I'm not sure if this will help anyone or not but worth a try - when I was using the mobile app, I noticed that my £20 referral balance was no longer showing (previously it was displayed in my Account Settings), but in using the desktop version of the site on my normal computer, the referral credit was still there, so I've just used it and successfully had £20 deducted from a ticket for Ruthless for tomorrow. So it might be worth other users having a look by that method. I do hope it works for as many people as possible!
