Genuine question, if the theatre/producer allows photos of the set/show cloth to be taken, is there any real issue in sharing links to them? I entirely agree though when it comes to unauthorised photos or footage taken during a performance.

I suppose it depends on where the Producer thinks a photo taken by a punter will end up. If it’s in someone’s Facebook or insta shared with a bunch of semi interested friends and family they might be ok. If it’s on a popular theatre specific website they might not be happy with unauthorised pics of their new set being shown. As we don’t know how individual producers/theatres might react, we have to err on the side of caution.
Anyway we have a rich language, how about those who saw the pic describing it to those who didn’t? It looked a bit Flintstones/Bedrock to me!

Somewhere between the ‘Fame’ episode “The Monster That Devoured Las Vegas” and the floor show in “Rocky Horror”.

Saw it last night and overall I enjoyed it. The vocals were very strong and the music sounded great. The cast were in general great with the guy playing the dentist being the weakest link imho. His number was so boring and terribly choreographed that it was almost embarrassing. They should really rethink that number before opening night. Fortunately the rest of the musical numbers were generally very good.
The set looked ok to start with, although it was pretty much a copy of the one they used for Ragtime a few years ago. Unfortunately once the action started and the homeless people start moving around the supermarket carts containing big skyscrapers, one couldn't help but wondering 'what are they thinking?'. It looked really awful. The whole set became the Open Air Ragtime meets the recent National's Macbeth, very weird. And the strange lightning design didn't help either. The costumes looked in general very amateurish, really badly designed with very few exceptions, only the outfits for Audrey and the three narrator girls looked fine.
And finally Audrey II. The plant's design is awful, the first time you see it, it looks like a badly designed children's toy. The drag queen was good, but if you are not familiar with the story, like some children in the area where I was, you might find confusing why a draft queen comes out of the plant and sings. It's not made clear to start with that she's actually the plant. Having said that she was quite funny, looked and sounded la bit like Divine which in my book is a good thing.
It was enjoyable overall but it could have been so much better in the right hands.

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed this tonight. I haven't seen any production of Little Shop before (or OAT's Ragtime) so I have nothing to compare against, but I thought it was brilliant!
I thought the whole cast were strong, including Matt Willis. I liked how they did the plant, though I believe in the past the plant hasn't been human? Vocals were strong across the board and there was such energy!
I thought the set worked fine - again I had no prior knowledge of the show so can't comment in relation to previous productions.
We did have a show stop towards the end of Act I for 10 or so minutes due to a medical emergency, but this was swiftly dealt with and the show resumed.
All in all, a really fun night! I've always wanted to see Little Shop and I feel like this was a brilliant first version to see.
Four stars from me

Skyscrapers in supermarket trolleys. Why? Please cut all 8 of them now.
Great B movie type set that takes it back to its original form.
Loved Audrey 2. Panto but also brilliant. Struggled to hear in the first half but as it was a second preview ...
Jemima Rooper. Wow. Vulnerable but charming.
Great vocals and acting all round.
Good fun and a fantastic night out.
The finale is great fun.
4 out of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this overall. One of the first shows I saw as a child and seen the film a million times so was nervous about a younger dentist (compared to Alistair McGowan and Steve Martin) and human plant!
I agree the set probably wasn't ideal, and the ensemble could have done far more without the skyscrapers taking up so much room. The shop worked well but the plant could have been more impressive. Especially given the green setting. The finale was bonkers and good fun but I remember being far more impressed at the menier production ending with Sheridan Smith.
Loved the three 'greek chorus' style girls, particularly Christina Modestou. Cracking voices. Marc Antolin and Jemima Rooper stole the show for me. Lovely voices, great chemistry and really well acted. Matt Willis was far better than his west end live clips, quite a different take but very funny, especially in the meek shall inherit. Mr Mushnik did a good job. Vicky Vox also had a a great voice and was very funny as the plant. I would say this version has a bit more adult humour than others if you were thinking of taking children.
I do think the show stop threw off the performance somewhat in the way it was dealt with. While the actual stop was short it took a while for the show to be stopped in the first place which didn't help the situation. The lady seemed to be OK thankfully but I am sure she would have preferred to have been dealt with in privacy as they usually deal with people fainting in the sun rather than the situation that occurred. I also wish they had re-started from the earlier than it did as everyone around the situation missed more than they re-did.
Will be going back for sure but will invest in a much closer seat, couldn't really comment on the quality of the costumes etc from Row O, had the biggest smile on my face all the way home.

I've got my speedos in my bag. I shall be seeing this tonight! . I have not seen anyone in shorts: just a guy in a dashing black and white short sleeved shirt and black trousers with a white line on the side. It must be someone else then 😉

Well. I have to say that I enjoyed it for the most part, it zips by nicely in two hours and doesn't overstay its welcome. The songs are much of a muchness although they are toe tapping, I found Vicky Vox's vocals a bit drowned out by the chorus for the most part and one of the songs in particular is a little bit Kermit the Frog's 'It's Not Easy Being Green' which I don't know if that was the intention or not but was nice to remember a Muppet classic anyway.
On the plus side, there's plenty of shopping trolley action ("is it on the trolley?") for those who like to while away the hours bombing around a Tesco car park of an evening, 'Wicked' fans will love the fact that the second half is pretty much lit in what can only be described as 'Elphaba green' and the lead duo of Marc Antolin and Jemima Rooper are really quite utterly delightful. Jemima in particular, has a lovely voice and is a complete charmer (although there's all sorts of #MeToo issues here methinks), giving an incredibly touching performance ('Somewhere That's Green' is almost Marilyn Monroe-esque in its loveliness as she's sat on top of a building) but Marc is the real star of the show, touching, quirky, funny, sweet, vocally terrific and with a wonderful mop of curly hair. They are quite a smashing duo though.
Oh and whoever told Matt Willis (who I didn't even recognise was him) that he could act needs to stop playing games with him right away in case he starts to think it's true. It's not funny and it's not fair. For anyone.

It looks like this has extended by another week as well as having a slight price hike for top price tickets (only £1 or £2 but still).
Slightly annoyed by the extension as I have pestered my boyfriend for MONTHS to book for the last performance on the 15th as its my Birthday, but good for the production that its extended though. Clearly the reviews are doing them some good!

Some Americans use "theater" as the art and "theatre" as the building, so although "drive in theatre" sounds improbable, it's nonetheless possible. You'd think they would go with "theater" so as not to distract audience members who don't know that, though. Sometimes truth is far more off-putting than a polite fiction.
