I went in early Jan. I really didn't like it. I adore the show but this production felt really weak and flat.The audience was pretty empty which didn't help. The whole show just dragged for me. I did get a £10 ticket in the gods and after asking politely at the box office I was upgraded to dress circle. So not all bad. Maybe give it another chance with a different cast |

Richard Fleeshman has finally prompted me to book this. I'm pretty sure Louise Dearman was Sarah last time I saw it.

Hmph just seen that Dearman is only doing a few venues and none I can get to. Well that sucks. They best replace her with someone suitably brilliant.

Look I'm sorry but how are you supposed to enjoy the tour version of this show when Richard Fleeshman is going to be covered up in a suit? For. The. Entire. Show. It's outrageous. I hope they've reduced the prices to take this into account. |

I feel the same way having seen the West End cast on the pre-London run in Manchester! The Liverpool cast is very impressive. Maybe it's time to give this show a second chance. |

Great cast for the UK tour, but am so annoyed that Louise Dearman is not doing any venues in the south.

I saw Louise as Sarah on the last tour (I was 10?) - be an excuse for a weekend away to see her play Adelaide!

I really Like Louise but Samantha Spiro is a much more exciting proposition in that role I think.

Yep, agree with emcee and ninja about Louise, what a shame. Now I'm wondering who we will get! I'm happy that I'll be seeing Fleeshman but is Maxwell Caulfield just another Marti Pellow or...?

I wish Anna O'Byrne was doing the West End rather than the tour. As it is I'll have to get myself to Norwich to see her. I'd like to have seen Louise Dearman as Miss Adelaide but I'm not keen enough for several hours each way up north. Richard Fleeshman I only know from 1 song in the Kings of Broadway concert last autumn & Maxwell Caulfield I know nothing about.
Edit: make that Woking or Milton Keynes, as Norwich has no decent seats left for the Saturday matinee.
Edit 2: £42.50 stalls on tour vs £71.50 stalls in London! I can't believe they'll cut the production down that much for the tour so that is a ridiculous price difference.

I just booked for Newcastle and for stalls, middle of row e I have paid £39 for my seat! Can't wait to see Louise and Richard but mostly excited to see Anna O Byrne on stage at long last!

I know she did matinees on the pre-London tour dates, and nothing has been announced saying she doesn't do matinees, so I would imagine she does - of course with all the usual small print no guarantees etc etc...

I went on a Tuesday matinee a couple of weeks ago and had the full main cast (may have been no understudies at all, but I was UC and didn't see a cast board and was so far away it's hard to make out people if you don't know what they should look like). This was a day when they only had a matinee on Tuesday, so it's not like they'd have to perform twice.

Strange about filming.. The ATG web site now shows the special message under March 7 & 10 dates ("This performance will be filmed" or smth like that).

It's hardly Gypsy, it has definitely not had the hype that Gypsy had so I would think filming would be somewhat of a waste?
... who wants to put bets on that Funny Girl will be recorded too, the Savoy is on a roll!

Thanks for the replies, folks!! Still a bit reticent to see this as I'm really not sure if I'll like it. I do want to see more 'old-school' musicals but most of the ones I've seen so far I really don't like.
