I saw that production with Ewen McGregor and Sarah Lancashire. Dinner at the Ivy afterwards and sat next to Grace Jones who even had a little chat with me. Patrick Swaysee took over afterwards which I also saw. Was it good? Would've loved to have seen it, I bet Ewen and Sarah were great? Patrick Swaysee was the one who played opposite Samantha Womack, was she good? [br Sarah was brilliant. It was the first time I had seen her on stage and didn't even know she could sing. I thought Ewen was excellent also but I'm easily pleased.

I'm looking back at the 2005 production, and they had some great cast members! Ewan McGregor as Sky as well as some fantastic Adelaides! Jane Krakowski, Sarah Lancashire and Samantha Womack to name a few! I saw Jane K in this - she was fabulous. Ewan McG was better than I expected but it was Douglas Hodge as Nathan Detroit that made me book. I liked his interpretation: slightly nervous and henpecked, rather than "smooth". 2005 - where did that 10 years go?

She's very pretty, at least there is that... (I haven't seen her perform so can't comment on that)

Boots are so rare in the West End though - I imagine it's a mix pf British culture and stircter ushers, But I can't find a single audio of Sheridan in FG for example... Not that I'm looking anyway...

Ermmmm very confused for two reasons... on the ATG Website, if you go to the January 2017 booking period, it ends January 7, but if The Girls starts previews in January too, surely this has to close earlier than January to get The Girls in? But the more confusing thing, it says that Guys & Dolls is starting again at the Savoy?! a mistake surely?! www.atgtickets.com/shows/guys-and-dolls/phoenix-theatre/

Well, does it say The Girls is starting in early January? 'Cos it's feasible for a show to close in early January (say, the 7th) and another show to come in towards the end of the month. Tight turn-around time, sure, but it's not like The Girls doesn't already exist.

I am just surprised that this will close in January and The Girls will start! Is The Girls a heavy-tech show?

Beckham closed at the Phoenix and Guys and Dolls opened two weeks later so it's definetly doable. I would guess a mid to late January opening for The Girls.

I think The Girls press night is in February? Don't quote me on that though? I presume that The Girls will open late January so it will give them around 3 weeks to prepare?

So she hardly has any rehearsal time.. And then she was at the Tennis yesterday! She's obviously very well prepared!

She's a performer, a stage beast! She knows the songs (as demonstrated on Graham Norton's show) so she's equipped to step into the machine of a well-running show and perform there, in harmony with it and in reaction to it and to the live theatre audience. A lot of West End longrunners lose the live performance element and become archaic barnacled caricatures of their original selves. So it's really refreshing to introduce such a performer into this show.

Jane Krakowski, Sarah Lancashire and Samantha Womack to name a few! I loved that production. It had some great casting during its run (Jane Krakowski, Kelly Price, Norman Bowman, Douglas Hodge, Patrick Swayze to name just a few). Some not so great casting too (*cough* Don Johnson *cough*).

Got myself a last min cheap ticket for Rebel & Simon's first show tonight. £15 front row of U/C. Sat there (but opposite side) for BILB so know it's a really nice view up there. Will report back!!

Love Simon Lipkin but I've only heard lukewarm things about this show from my friends. Maybe I'll finally get round to seeing this eventually. Can't wait to hear your thoughts Theatremadness.

Just got an email with discounted tickets (though not as deeply as before) - doesn't seem like sales have picked up too much.

Sorry if this has already been posted, but just found this rehearsal video of Rebel in Guys and Dolls: Ah the same excerpt she sang on Graham Norton!

I think she's going to be great. It will be the Rebel Wilson show, but having seen the show already I don't mind and I'm looking forward to seeing what she does with it.
Also, it is EVERYWHERE in London. Buses, tubes...

Interval, it's definitely not the Rebel show, but whenever she's on she completely steals it. An absolute star, in my opinion. She's a true natural. Her and Simon a perfect pair. Very young, fresh and sexual (probably far too modern for the time period but who cares). Audience are going mad for her (seems pretty full) and her Lament was faultless. Even when she's not on, the audience reception of the rest of the show and, in particular the comedy, is huge, and the show is just glorious from start to finish (well, start to end of Act 1 but I know Act 2 is just as good). First time seeing it since Chichester.
