Everything must come to an end. After almost 11 years, Billy Elliot must leave London and plays its final performance on Saturday, 9th April at the Victoria Palace Theatre. However, a UK and Ireland tour will commence in Plymouth on Wednesday, 24th February.
This thread is to discuss the last few weeks of the show in London, but also its UK tour.

Does anyone have any idea when they may sell (if at all) tickets to the final show? I see they are selling the final matinee. I don't expect to be able to get anything decent, but on the off chance they sell them and I manage to bag a couple of good seats I wouldn't mind being at the final Billy.

Considering they kicked out pre-bookers from good seats up to the upper circle or a refund, I doubt they'll put many seats for it on public sale. |

Latest in this sorry saga below. Seats changed from stalls to upper circle and now to dress circle. Anyone else had this ?! The charity angle is so not going to work.

The producers of this event have now been in touch with the following statement:
"We are contacting you in regard to the final performance of ‘Billy Elliot the Musical’ which will take place on Saturday April 9th at 7.30pm. This performance is being held in aid of East Durham Trust, a charity that works to counteract the effects of social and economic deprivation in the Easington area, the setting for ‘Billy Elliot the Musical’.
Tickets for this performance will be made available to the general public soon. Before they go on sale, however, we would like to offer you the opportunity to upgrade your existing ticket(s) for ticket(s) in the Dress Circle. Tickets in the Dress Circle are at a higher price, so in order to upgrade, you would need to pay the difference in value between your existing tickets and the Dress Circle tickets. If you would like to do this, please can you contact us before 6pm on Wednesday February 24th . Please be advised that the value of all tickets purchased for this performance will be donated to East Durham Trust"

Blimey, it's a right mess. You'd think that after 10 years in the west end with so many children in the many casts (Billys, Michaels, Debbies, Ballet Girls, Tall Boys, Small Boys) each with parents and family who might want to come along.... they could sell this show many times over. Saying that the final performance is now in aid of charity is a lame excuse for screwing the fans who'd already bought tickets.

it was in an email from ticketmaster - quite a reliable source. The question is... when are these tickets "going on sale to the public?!"

Sadly being a single ticket hunter I was restricted to what I would be sold, but I got myself a seat at the front of the upper. I couldn't justify premium for the dress or top price for the back side of the dress.
Still, I love Billy so am happy to see it a final time in London.

Tickets never went online so it was by phone (or person only). Yes they did, 15 heart-stopping minutes late. A friend asked me to grab one, and I did, but DM's system isn't a patch on how others cope with "crash booking" days. I shall be blogging about the experience once I've seen a trauma councillor. The phone was no help, BTW, as that just announced "too busy" and cut call off. The choice was side / rear top price dress or loads of upper circle - everything except a few centre seats in rows A to E, really. Surprised it was all at normal prices, too, which was good. Yes I noticed the online tickets after I'd posted on here, and was told by the lady on the phone she didn't expect there would be any left within a few minutes due to how busy it was. I'm preparing myself for a leg ache, but Billy is special so I'll deal with it. |

It may have something to do with the fact the show is closing next month, but when I saw Billy yesterday it was the most I've ever enjoyed it and had the biggest impact on me it ever has. It somehow jumped into my top bunch of shows yesterday despite me having seen it a number of times already. The boy playing Billy was INCREDIBLE, as was Michael. It got me tearful quite a number of times.
Can anybody answer how different the touring set is or how they do the house/bedroom etc? I'm guessing that and the miners descending might be the only things that would need to be done differently?

Wow, that sounds like an absolute nightmare for the people in attendance that night! Getting a Billy mid-show swap, not just one, but three technical stops and missing an entire scene! A disaster really. I have never seen the show live as of yet, so can someone inform me as to why the "dream ballet" scene would for any reason be skipped? Was it due to cast shortages?

To me that reads as rather dismissive. Most things are live, in the sense that they're happening at the time: catching a train, eating a meal, and so on. Things can always go wrong, but you kind of assume that when they do you'll get some sort of acknowledgement that the service you've received is not the one you wanted. Not "Well, what do you expect? It's live. Duh."
