I'm so glad I caught it in Edinburgh! A real shame, I loved a lot of the songs. Was a cast recording made at the Lyceum?

I enjoyed it too. A sweet show, but not an awful lot to get excited about.

Haven't seen anything else. I do have an audio recording though... I loved the show - I know not everybody enjoyed it, but it hit the mark for me.

It will probably reappear somewhere. They won’t have put all the work into it and give up quite yet I’m sure.

A shame, glad I made the trip to Edinburgh.
One for Southwark to pick up? currently on a good run of new musicals and building up an audience willing to give new musicals a chance.

Maybe the National could pick it up as part of their "musical a year" plan?

Excellent news, enjoyed it when I saw it in its short run at Edinburgh and we’ll worth the trip out to Chichester.

Hugely exciting news, particularly with Daniel Evans directing. This season I'll mostly be staying in Chichester...

After being shouted at by a rude lady at South Pacific, I'd decided that my first visit to Chichester would be my last visit to Chichester. I may have to relent.
If I ask nicely, perhaps they'll schedule some performances just for younger people?

Surprised this is playing the Minera though.

Surprised this is playing the Minera though. I'm guessing the ceilidh band will be on stage (rather than hidden like at the Lyceum) - this show will easily sell out 300 seats a night. If only the Old Vic had the balls to stage it instead of opting for their usual eclectic half-full theatre / sell cheaply at £15 a pop plays that appeal to random folk, they could have made a fortune.

I often feel like one of the youngest in the audience (although I'm sadly no longer 'young'!).

This is selling extremely well already for "Friends" bookings. Advise buying membership and getting in early if you want to see it. First performance already 3/4 sold after 1 hour of booking time.

Don't forget it's in the Minerva which is...tiny. Chichester audiences by tickets for everything so the fact it is selling well doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be...good. I've sat through plenty of drivel at Chich in full houses before 😂

Though I am hopelessly biased towards this particular show.

...I'll only quietly say that I was bored rigid at it in Edinburgh then 😂

I've sat through plenty of drivel at Chich in full houses before 😂 I'm a CFT regular and certainly don't buy tickets for everything. As with productions I want to see at the NT tending to be in the pricey Dorfman or ghastly Lyttelton, with Chichester I'm often frustrated that what I want to see turns out to be in the Minerva. Of course there's an audience overlap between the two spaces but in general I think the safer, more tradtional plays and shows are programmed for the main house and the new and/or possibly slightly more experimental ones in the Minerva. It's true that this year I'll end up seeing more than usual at CFT but that's partly because I've already seen Doubt, which certainly didn't sell out, and had two bookings held over from last year. Plus I've booked for Our Generation which is a joint production. What does seem odd is that a show previously intended for the Old Vic, ie Local Hero, should instead be in the Minerva as they are such different spaces, both in terms of size and layout.

Has local hero had a rewrite? Or is Evans thinking it is like Sweeney Todd aka works brilliantly in different size houses?

I can see Local Hero getting a "Life of Pi" style of lighting/projection treatment with minimal set.

Public booking now open for this and the rest of the 2022 Chichester season.
First time for me at the Minerva. The £47 price hurt a bit when similar seats for Crazy For You in the Festival Theatre cost me £10 but happy to get Saturday matinees booked for both.
