Really looking forward to seeing Dean and the rest of the new cast tomorrow afternoon! I'm not at all surprised that Vivien Parry was a highlight. She was fabulous in Twelfth Night! Really funny!!!
Looks like it'll be a very good year for Les Mis!

Dean was very good even for the first time. I loved Amara she has such a fantastic voice and plays it very well. It is all looking good so far. Really liked Sam as Bamatabois and Sam Edwards as Enjolras. His Enj is very strong and older. His voice is fab. James was ill so never saw him as the Bishop we got Antony on.
Once everyone gets into it and less nervous I think it will be great cast. For those interested quite a few track changes from last year.

How does the new Enj look? short hair? fake ponytail? Fake pony tail and it looks very odd its quite curly but messy. It would have been better if they just had a short hair Enj to be honest. It's rather distracting.

Lee van Geelan was on as Javert tonight (as far as I know he will also do tomorrow’s shows).

Will hopefully get to see Les Mis for the first time with this cast in January. Mainly going based on the fact that I enjoy Bradley Jaden and Samuel Edwards as performers and I’ve heard good things about Dean from Shrek, Blood Brothers etc.

Lee van Geelan was on as Javert tonight (as far as I know he will also do tomorrow’s shows). Just found this out on the way to get a ticket. Haha he had just two days after leaving and he is back again! I like this time when you end up getting the emg covers turning up.

Really enjoyed the new cast on Tuesday, too. I feel this will be a very strong cast once everyone has settled in. Having said that I love David Thaxton's Javert so kind of wish he was staying on (thought Lee van Geelan was good especially considering he went on at really short notice). At the same time I am looking forward to seeing Bradley Jaden. Have decided I'm definitely not keen on Sam Edwards' wig. Still love Vivien Parry's Madame Thenardier. I've written down some brief throughts on the new cast in my blog. confessionsofatheatregirl.com/2018/06/14/les-miserables-london/

Have decided I'm definitely not keen on Sam Edwards' wig. Same. Honestly I think they could have just gone with him having short hair this time. It's distracting.

David hasn't done the show since Monday and Lee has had to emg cover all week. Yesterday WELive rehearsal David was at but didn't do the show. I wonder what has happened?

They often give the role of Cosette to someone fresh out of training with no professional experience. Given that it's a principal role in the biggest show on the West End, why do you think that is? Cosette? Marius too, and Enjolras... loads of them. 10 years ago, you’d go and see Les Mis and you’d have properly mature voices singing the leads. Marius and Enjolras played by 25-30 year olds with many credits, 40-50 year olds playing Valjean and Javert. It sounded heavenly. I appreciate that to those who have never seen that age of cast won’t know the difference, but hand on heart it was just glorious. Now they’re casting the likes of Killian and Bradley as the main two and they could still be playing students. Supremely talented, yes, and deservedly leading men, but 10 years too young for THESE roles. Hence Jeremy Secomb was such a welcome Javert. A touch of the Quast and old school. Hopefully Dean Chisnall will bring a bit of that back to Valjean. Some of it, when its not that right , is just bad casting, or wierd direction. They have have had some pretty weak older actors at times in the last decade too.Comotose Javert , wierd Javert , and bland Javert come to mind, as does Fantine who died mid I dreamed, unlikeable Eponine, and random Valjean . They seem to have got over their teen looking student phase.
I popped in to see the last matinee of the last Killian led cast and thought Killian was doing a great job - although he is a little young. David 's Javert was enthused with credible character, Fantine was doing a great job, and Marius was one of the best recent ones.
The Thenardiers hopefully didn't always ham it up so much - but this was a muckup matinee. Pa Thenardier had a nice note of menamce tho. I hope they don't usually make a point of making themselves seen stealing the silverware - its better as a surprise. Emjolras was 90% of the way to being credible. Thaxton still holds the Enjolras leadership prize,The Bishop didn't seem to be singing from the same sheet of notes as previous bishops.
Cosette and Eponine were just wrong. Please let the new ones be better advised. Cosette was evading her high notes and speak singing, but looked and acted the part well. Eponine couldn't decide whether she was speaking gangsta, or RP. She sang nicely at times when in RP, and died effectively, - although whispering the song isn't a great idea, even if its realistic as you die. The gangsta , and the bizarre gait, though didn't belong - reclusive and abused though Eponine might be. We need to care about her - not wonder what on earth she is doing, or find her unappealing. And there's zero reason why daughter Thenardier should be using two accents that are alien to her parents - the whole point is that she's stuck in that family unit. I blame the direction - its the same basic mistake they made last time when they tried to have a realistically badass, gang member, Eponine, with no saving potential or pathos. Don't do it. We are not meant to want her to be shot.

I’ve booked for this now. First time seeing Les Mis, and I’m very excited! I’m in Row C in the stalls. Can’t remember which seats I picked but they’re right in the centre. Excited to see Dean as JVJ, Bradley as Javert, Sam as Enj and Elena as Eponine.

Saw the new cast last night and all I have to say is Amara makes the most perfect Cosette. I found myself actually giving a damn about Cosette a lot more than I normally do. I have one complaint, turn her mic up so I can hear that beautiful voice even more clearly.

I've heard mixed things about her but that is mainly based on the cast's performance at WEL.

Why has James Hume been as as Javert for every show during the last month? Did David hurt himself?

just saw the new cast and had 2 Covers on: James Hume as Javert who was absolutely fantastic 👌🏻 what a voice! loved the cover of Fantine as well, don’t know the name 🤷🏻♀️ JVJ was wonderful and Marius very cute! The ensemble is very strong and powerful 😍 Eponine i did not like in act1, her „on my own“ was wonderful! Cosette was very much „not there“ for lack of words, loved Zoe Doano and Samantha Dorsey in the role but that was... boring. And some high notes were not there as well. As for Enjolras, liked the last 3 Enjolrases but not quite sure about that one: voice was ok but not more, acting good but he looks quite „old“, somehow i imagine Enjolras younger and more .. don’t know how to describe it, prettier 🤷🏻♀️
