Yes😊. You are right BB. I saw that Schoenberg had visited during rehearsals too. Don’t bother auditioning if you are a graduate of any other school😂

I just tried to buy a ticket for today's show, the website said I couldn't buy just 1 ticket and leave 1 seat empty which doesn't make sense to me but whatever...I'll go to the box office next time. Phantom can get my custom today!

There's a new booking period now open for Les Miserables up to 3 April 2022.
As usual the two seats in the front row of the stalls immediately behind the conductor, A15 and A16, are priced @ £65 instead of £90. However for Wednesday matinees from 5 January until 30 March the whole of the front row of the stalls is priced @ £65. The sole exception is Wednesday 16 February when only A15 and A16 have the lower price.
A bargain for the front row experience without the minor restriction on view.

Shout out to the lovely FOH staff and box office at the Sondheim today for accommodating our request to move from Judi's box to different seats due to a height issue for my youngest. They were so lovely and courteous and were able to move us to new seats a few mins before it started. Very much appreciated.

Some cast changes in the production? Niall Sheehey joins the Sondheim cast and Sam Wyn Morris transfers to the tour. Have some cast members left?

Then there is the same issue going on at Phantom in terms of casting policy. Les Mis and Phantom are top-tier shows, known for their excellence in production values, world class casts and being the pinnacle of an aspiring performer,a career. Playing Jean Valjean , Javert or even Eponine is a top credit, and used to be one earnt but learning the craft with years of seasoning. Auditioning every year and getting closer and closer, until you're "ready". Now, the cast is full of drama school leavers. Making their professional debut... not in rep, not in a regional pantomime or small tour. In the longest running and most beloved musical in the West End. Well, surely if you're good enough, age isn't an issue? Many of them simply aren't appropriate for roles they are being pushed headfirst into. One poor lad looked completely lost, a deer in headlights when I saw it. Blew a couple of lines. Was not ready for the big time. This lack of quality control and desperate lack of steady hands in the cast is at critical mass. I agree on the whole that the ageing down is an issue but not to condemn everyone, Killian Donnelly and Nic Greenshields were an impressive pairing on the last tour. And of course, as we get older everyone starts to appear younger (especially policemen!) Oh, it's not just me that's noticed the ageing down?! Les Mis used to be one of my favourites, but I haven't seen it on stage since the 2010 tour, and I just get the impression the production is getting more and more Disney-fied, and less authentic. Great songs, but I don't think I'd ever pay to see it on stage again. I'll just stick with the film.

Barnaby Hughes, who was announced to be playing Enjolras on the tour, appears to have left the production (seemingly permanently - he’s removed any mention of it from his social media). Samuel Wyn Morris was Feuilly and 2nd cover Enjolras in the West End - he is now playing Enjolras for the first two tour venues. Niall Sheehy has replaced him in the West End.

Are you sure you've got the right guy/looking at the right user?

Are you sure you've got the right guy/looking at the right user? Yes, for me his Instagram profile picture is definitely not him as Enjolras, and I don’t think he’s updated his Twitter bio as it says International Tour, which was pre-Lockdown (now it’s referred to as UK & Ireland tour). He had an announcement post on Instagram when the casting for the current tour was announced which has since been taken down. And I wouldn’t put it past them to have updated the website adding Samuel but forgetting to remove Barnaby, after it took them weeks to update the cast page once it had been announced in the first place.

More like 40+, to be honest. To have the appropriate gravitas.

Joseph Anthony has been brought into the London production as Swing and covet Enjolras.

With the wigs and make up, he does read older than his actual age, but I think he has plenty of gravitas.

Don't think he's ever played Enjolras in the new staging, has he? Would be good to have caught this tonight.

Well done to that young man for stepping up and helping his cast mates, and rescuing the evening for that audience. I wouldn't be the biggest fan of his Javert (perhaps an understatement) but I have nothing but respect for him stepping in and - for tonight at least - saving the show.

Just as an aside to that, I bet there are some really bonkers things going on all over the West End (and beyond) to get "a show" on for the audience.
I'm picturing things like a 50 year old Cosette shuttling in from Luton on two hours notice, who last played the role back at the Palace in nineteen-dickity-six.
I bet there's some really interesting stuff going on, as Company Managers desperately dust off their rolodexes...
"Are you in town love? Fancy popping over tonight and giving your Elphaba again? We are in a bit of a pickle... Okay, thanks Idina, see you in an hour!"
I can dream.

Someone give Rebecca Caine a ring and ask her to come do Cosette for a night...
I'd go see it for that...

Cancelled due to Covid absences today. If Les Mis can't call people in it won't be long before the rest go down.

Loving team Les Mis at the moment. Admittedly they have a big pool to choose from but the notion of someone having their lunch at home then playing Cosette (that they played two years ago) a hundred miles away at night.

John Owen Jones on as Valjean tonight. Lucky audience! I know Philip Griffiths has the record for the longest continuous playing of a role but surely JOJ must have the record for the longest non-continuous playing of a role!
