If you have problems with your fans, then take another exit or keep it short and walk away. Don't pretend to be something else. Sounds like a very troubled girl to me. |

Slightly off topic, have you guys seen this video of a Les Mis flash mob? It's one of the most cringey things I've seen online (especially when Enjolras comes in, and with the flag at the end , but I can't stop watching: Oh god don't get me looking at flash mob vids on YouTube or my Sunday will be gone! Oops... Too late! This one is better |

Carrie and Rob recorded a cover to celebrate their final performances. It is a great cover and they changed the lyrics to involve bits of Les Mis.  |

I was watching the crowd come out of the Princes of Wales theatre, Toronto where ales Miserable played 2 years ago, as a warm up for Broadway, given the heart wrenching story of Les Miserable you think people would be more charitable,they looked at some pan handler outside the entrance as dirt.

She's a YouTuber... the point of her channel is to profile her life. Her life for the past nearly three years has been Les Mis, so it is a big deal for her leaving. And as Jon said, it is just a bit of fun for her and Rob, and a chance to properly sing together on her channel.

I like her a lot, I even bought her book (!) but I have felt a bit disenchanted with her lately. Partly there's a bit of a blindness to the fact she's had a lot of advantages in life to get her where she is that others don't-not that she hasn't worked hard but without the contacts she has few people have double book deals and the like by what 25? or that she struggles to see that being a child actor did give her some advantage/contacts/etc when going into the industry as an adult.
and with that the duality of the youtube audience has boostered her to where she is in some areas but there seems a little bit of ungratefulness/superiority creeping in?
I do think she's a fantastic performer and no doubt actually a lovely person. We all said things when we were 25 that in retrospect seem a bit stupid!

I think some of you are being a little hard on Carrie. I've met her a couple of times at the stage door after midweek matinees. I wasn't waiting specifically for her, I hasten to add, but she came out while I was waiting to speak to someone else. On each occasion there was only a handful of people waiting for her, and she was absolutely charming with everyone - even an old codger like me. I've seen Les Mis countless times, and hadn't a clue who she was before she started in it, but she rapidly became one of my favourite Eponines.

The alternative is people who can't sing, or act, from Corrie or the X factor taking roles because they are known and might draw in audiences, or people no one knows taking jobs and not attracting anyone much to see them. ALW spotted the need to build stars with his TV shows, but seemed to lose interest and drifted off into other projects.If some of the best people have created their own momentum, good for them. Eponine is not only a major role in Les Mis - its the one that got the Tony for a reason - its crucial to the emtional impact of the show. . I'm sorry- I thought Carrie's acting was bland when I saw her. She has a great belt, but she sung over everyone in ensemble numbers very unpleasently her first year until finally instructed to tone it down.
Being asked to stay an extra contract is real indication of nothing, at least to me, in the WE production- off the top of my head- Liam Tamme was bored by the end of his first contract and it showed big time, yet he stayed for another contract of phoned in performances. And there are plenty of other examples of miscasts.
Frances won that Tony because she made a truly unique (book accurate) character out of Eponine, and deserved it. Few have been able to fill to those shoes, acting wise, I felt Carrie definitly didn't. Someone described as "Cosplaying and shouting" Eponine, and I have to agree.
BUt thats just my opinion- I am not attacking or meaning to offend you in anyway. Carrie just grinds me the wrong way- her whole attitude seems as though she fancies herself superior to everyone. I really can't think of actors who tease so much about having new jobs they can't talk about- its no new thing that actor can't name what their next project, but I can't recall this much teasing- and it's not the first time she's done it.

I saw the show a few months ago and she didn't even register. It was a Friday night so I assume she was on. Collectively the cast were all great but she didn't pull focus in any way, good or bad.
I totally admit I'm not really into this whole west end "personality" cult. When you lot are banging on about people I usually have to google them. It's about the show for me, not the individual performers.

On my way home from tonight's performance and I have a few thoughts.
It was so great to see Craig Mather and Danielle Hope back in the show - they were both even better than I hoped (I had quite high expectations for them tonight, I really loved their performances in the previous runs.)
I wasn't terribly pleased with Cosette's new dress, I was quite fond of the black one. The new dress is this hideous blue number (Zoe Doano posted a picture on twitter) - it has this awful lacy overskirt/apron that finished about 2/3rds down the dress.
Adam Pearce was absolutely incredible as Javert - I hope he becomes principal one day.
I have to say, everyone on the previous forum was right about how dreadful Phil Daniels was - I haven't seen a Thénardier that hammy since Matt Lucas!

Linzi Hateley was my first Eponine, back in 1986. She blew me away and I have been a huge fan ever since. But i prefer to keep my fandom away from any stage door! I had the OLCR long before I saw the show, playing it constantly. So when I actually got to see it onstage, I was shocked that 'At The End of The Day' wasn't the opening number! |
