The vocals at the awards Were truly horrendous Out of tune Take it you’ve not watched the TV broadcast then? They were 100% fine... Then again, you clearly are are theatre expert given that you predicted this show would be “papering” and close months within opening. I really don’t know what your problem is with posting so many horrible little remarks on this forum. Have you not got anything better to do? It was actually quite nice here when you’d deactivated your account... |

At this point I’m just convinced that account is a bot that randomly parses together (get it?) a string of negative words in random threads at carefully timed intervals.
I was at the Albert Hall in the circle at the Oliviers and the sound wasn’t too good up there, but watching the performance back on TV I thought it sounded and looked great, especially the choreography and lighting.

I haven’t watched the broadcast yet, but I listened to the live radio stream and didn’t think much of John’s vocals. As I say, I haven’t seen the broadcast yet so it might have just been the radio stream quality, nor have I seen the show yet so I can’t compare to how it sounds in the theatre.

My cast recording arrived in the post this morning - looking forward to giving it a ‘spin’ later on.
Whilst I love this show and want to see it run and run, I did think John McCrea’s vocals do struggle on a number of the songs, including And You Don’t Even Know It. It was noticeable on the Oliviers too. He’s not a terrible singer by any means, but of the three disciplines, he shines in his acting and dancing ability more.

Saw this a few weeks back with Luke Bayer as Jamie and thought he was incredibly good, so natural in the part.
Has anybody seen both Tom and Luke?

Both this ans 42nd Street’s soloists were quite strained vocally. It seemed as though they were trying to fill the cavernous space and the sound mix being off in the hall would add to that.

I was thinking about this earlier, but if Hamilton wasn't eligible this year, this show would pretty much match what Groundhog Day managed at the Olivier's. It would of won Musical and John McCrea, as well as a possible shot at Supporting Actress for Lucie if the Olivier's still chose to snub 42nd Street and Clare. It's a shame it didn't win anything.

I thought he struggled with his upper range on the broadcast, but based on the number from the Oliviers, I have entered the Today Tix lottery for tonight and I will go and see this in the next couple of days. |

Received my cast recording in the post this morning and it’s great to finally be able to hear the cast singing it. I’m a little confused about some of the songs though. The Finale just cuts after the ‘Legend of Jamie New’ and then Out of The Darkness seems to have entirely different lyrics to the actual show and a very weird orchestration. It’s just a piano backing for the first 30 seconds or so. Maybe I’m forgetting something, but this definitely isn’t how I remember it in the show

Enjoying the cast recording of this which arrived in a fabulous bright blue padded envelope.
For many of the songs however it does sound as if the vocals have just been substituted onto the band arrangements on the concept album (and in fact that band are credited in addition to the theatre one). Would have liked a totally new recording from scratch really.
Anyway, I could be wrong, but that is how it sounds to my ears!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed I can get a reduced price ticket next Friday when we're in London but here aren't many of the cheaper tickets left really. I may have to break the habit of a lifetime and pay £65 a ticket if not. If you're in London in the morning, I think the box office opens at 10/10:30. If you go in and ask for a ticket, they'll give you the the best available seat they have for £25 (They were still doing this last month when I went). Todaytix is also another option for last minute seat discounts

If you're at all worried, just have a check of the seating plan the night before and you should be able to see if there's ample availability. I hardly post on the boards nowadays and only check the posts every now and again. And some of the recent posts are the prime example of why, is there seriously any need for this sort of rubbish. Parsley you make a comment about someone’s nappy being full, yet making comments like that are just as blooming childish, yet most of your posts seem to purposefully be just to try and elicit anger from others , so well done , you get a medal, as you have succeeded once again Anyway back to Jamie, I am so looking forward to he cast album to be available on streaming, however slightly reluctant with the last couple of posts about the album. Either way I am booked to see the show twice more before the end of its run Xx |

Thanks for the info. We aren't staying too far from the theatre so could have a nice stroll after breakfast, as if the forecast is correct it will be nice and warm. Then I've booked for us to go round the Tower of London so a nice relaxing day. Or maybe not.
