, the drag shop scene was just too drawn out and boring I found the whole "Legend of Loco Chanelle" sequence one of my favourites. It set up a lot of the situation to come, too, as did the rest of the scene. Wonder what I saw that others didn't? Would also point out that on Saturday afternoon a cover was playing Hugo, so maybe that helped? I'm with Monkey- I really liked it, I love the backstory of the slightly aging 'Old Queen' and that song really sticks in my head! damnit now I'm humming it again.

Why did Spencer Stafford go from playing a drag queen in Sheffield to swinging? Because he moved over the border to Dronfield, if the rumours are true. I actually saw Spencer years ago at the Menier cover for Douglas Hodge when he was ill in La Cage. Of course Spencer was quite camp (as the character should be) so it was interesting to see him play the butch dad. I will say, the dad is a terrible one dimensional role and though it helps move the story along, the stage time is little to none lol

Why did Spencer Stafford go from playing a drag queen in Sheffield to swinging? Does he cover all three queens too? I wondered the same the other day. In Sheffield the roles of Laika Virgin and Jamie's Dad were both played by Spencer, however when the show came to London, the two roles were split and played by 2 different actors. This is the only reason I can think that he is now a swing

I can't say for certain what it was about it as I can't quite put my finger on it myself, it just didn't work as well as I thought it could have. It didn't seem to fit the tempo/pace of the rest of the show? If that makes any sense. The song was equally my least favourite of all which I don't think helped matters

I got what it was trying to achieve (and yes it worked perfectly well) I just didn't buy into it as much as I feel I should have? Maybe it is an age thing, maybe it's just me and this show, I'm just glad it didn't affect my overall enjoyment of the show.

It really charmed me & was well staged with a classic old school charm to it.

I was very happy to get a good stalls seat for £25 (from earlier posts it seems many walk-ups are offered good seats at this price) for today's matinee and enjoyed the show, which, despite its length, didn't outstay its welcome. It did remind me of BILB but I hope it lasts a lot longer in the West End.

Like, sum it up faster people, we wanna get back to the Mum and her friend, or the school kids. I'd personally rather they further the characters of the bully or the best friend than drag out that scene. It just goes on too long for the amount it brought to the plot (for me, differing opinions are good haha).

I also don't think its a grest song personally, for me it doesn't fit with the rest of the music and is kinda the weak link score wise, so maybe that is why?

I love the scene in the drag shop and I love that song. i saw it with the original guy and then the understudy who usually plays the dad and i thought it worked much better with the understudy as he was slimer and camper. I didn't buy it as much with the original actor. I LOVE LOVE LOVE John McCrea and he is incandescent and a true star. And Josie Walker, Lucie Shorthouse and Mina Anwar really shine. I am obsessed with this show and I can't wait for the cast recording and to see it again. Fav show I've seen all year in London or on Broadway.

I'm usually quite savvy about these things but are there no offers for this out there?? Apart from day seats you have to get in person, what can i book online?

Second cover Pritti Pasha is on tonight - Courtney Bowman and it’s her debut as Pritti. (She usually plays Fatima’s). Who is first cover and has she been on?

Kristie Skivington is on as Miss Hedge all week. Tamsin must be on holiday. She is leaving to do Strictly Ballroom so it will be interesting to see who replaces
Kristie is amazing in her dance pas de deaux during "if I Met Myself Again" and she really lights up the stage in her usual ensemble role. Funny because she doesn't read old enough to be the teacher but Im sure she will be fab

When people start nerding about covers it’s a good good sign!
I wonder if we’ll be talking about Jamie for even longer than we thought? 👍

Has John McCrea been off yet? His work ethic is really unbelievable...just think a lead in a West End show who actually appreciates that he is a lead in a West End show!

When people start nerding about covers it’s a good good sign! Does the show have a midwife? (Crap. I'm doing Wicked in-jokes. I have officially hit rock bottom.)
